Quoted from AndHart120:

I don’t have my premium to try this out yet but something like these came to mind for me. I’m not sure of the thickness needed though. These come in all different sizes and shapes in clear.
[quoted image]

This is a good idea and I tried this but you need something higher (around 1/4”) and more rigid. It might work.

They make 1/4 in square ones and more rigid. These stick ons might be best idea yet

I’ve got taller ones than that but the taller they get the wider they get too.

#1254 6 months ago

Yeah, i've used some various sized ones I have to fix ball traps. Link for something similar.

Cool I hope something like this will work! Cheap, simple, and sticks in place.

#1256 6 months ago
Quoted from PinDeadHead:

#slotgate. Here’s to continuous improvements and everyone here sharing their findings with one another.
I zipped over to Ace Hardware, grabbed two clear nylon bushings, cut them down until the plastic didn’t move when I press down just below the slot, added gorilla double sided tape on the bases to hold them onto the metal shark fin mech.
After play testing with glass off and adjusting the chum line screws (a little looser, a little tighter) I’m happy to report no more air balls at 220 left flipper power. Plus I cannot see any shadows under the plastic when playing because the bushings are super thin.
Total cost $1.00.

Only in pinball do you spend 13k and then need to do something like this. BS if you ask me but I'm sure I'll end up having to do the same thing.

Stern play tests these over 1k hours though right ; )

#1257 6 months ago
Quoted from Lermods:

Stern made a mistake not providing support from the factory. I’m going to guess that this is what is causing the airballs most people are seeing. Unfortunately, making an aftermarket standard shim is going to be difficult because inserts across games may not have the same amount of flex/sag.
[quoted image]

I'm pretty sure I know how to make an adjustable one that can be customized within a few mm. I just need my Prem to show up...

I think you’ll sell a lot if you can! I used a rubber post and had to keep trimming it until I got it just right, kind of a pain. Mine was only off on the right side. It plays so much better flat.

#1259 6 months ago

Jaws le I was told by distro would ship Monday according to Stern but as of now they have no word and no response when they reached out. Idk still hoping soon.

I was 13 paid for number so you’d think it would be before others.

It would be nice if Stern had a free factory solution to their design faux pas, but they shipped it like this, so that's probably not happening...

#1261 6 months ago

And just stick the extras on your chest under your shirt at your next tournament to throw everyone off...

Can you guys read the sign on your game? I play in a room with not a lot of light and I couldn’t, either it’s my eyes or it’s just too dark, probably both. That dark pic is not doctored in anyway, no flash was used in either pic, it’s how it looks on my game. I added one of our low profile spots mounted on the chum bucket screw to illuminate it. Makes a big difference. An added benefit is the illumination of the North Beach sign. The spotlight is just $7.50 plus shipping for anyone who wants one.

I show it in a pro so I am not sure if it’s that dark in the premium and LE, but if it is, spotlight mounts over any screw or it can be held on with supplied mounting tape. You just need to be able to run the wire down below the playfield.

Word on the street is the numbers don’t come
Off the line chronologically which is an interesting way to do things.

#1264 6 months ago
Quoted from Flash71:

Okay did some R&D with the chum line plastic last night and this seems to work best. I used two Titan translucent tapered sleeves and lined them up with the 2 screws under the plastic with the fatter part pointing up. So far after play testing I’ve gotten zero air balls and hitting the reel seems much smoother now. No rattling shots at all. Can’t see them either. Now I’m pissed I ordered the angled brackets as they seem not needed at this point if you do this adjustment. Interested to have some other people do it and report their findings.

What did you secure them with?

Can shave and stack these probably to fit, that was kind of my idea when I get my premium eventually as something to try.

#1266 6 months ago
Quoted from Manderko1:

Nothing. They slightly compress and stay in place nicely. You could probably use 2 sided tape if you wanted.

Nice. It’s just those slim tapered stern post sleeves right? I’m sure I have a bunch.

This is correct. 13 is not the 13th assembled. Export orders went first.

My distributor got in 5, numbers ranged from 16 to 165. Just a random pull of number tags .

Yep makes sense. Honestly anyone who “pays” extra for a certain number is pretty foolish in my opinion. Doesn’t mean you’re getting it quicker. I’m 152 on TCM but I told them to hold off as long as possible before I make final payment so I can get a later build as I like the bugs worked out. Needless to say no matter when it’s my time I’m still 152.

I am getting a Premium. But I also want to install a Pro translite. (the more iconic artwork IMHO). Does it usually take a year or so after release to order a different translite?

Scroll up a ways. I am waiting on a premium and already have a pro translite for it from San Diego Amusements.

A couple places are selling them. $99

Got our LE and Loving it. Played around 80 games so far this week! Highest score is around 290m Whole family is loving the game! I am excited to see the future code updates!

Looks great! How is the color match with the magnetic coin door piece with the game?

I would think that a large chunk of Premium owners would prefer the Pro translite. Although the Premium artwork is unique, I am just not a huge fan of that particular artist's work. Thankfully, the playfield art is mainly an ocean. (I still haven't quite gotten over the Rush trio's portraits).

Everything about the pro artwork is better. Cabinet art too. Guess it's the price we had to pay to have the stupid shark actually move (but not eat). I don't even care about the upper playfield that much, but the shark has to at least do something!

100 percent agree. The upper playfield also helps complete the game. The cabinet artwork is much better on the Pro.

The Premium artwork reminds me of Stars Wars home comic edition for some reason. I just think that his art is sub-standard compared to others in the field.

#1282 6 months ago

Though I agree the pro translite and Le backglass are great, we’ve see that image over and over
I love the fury and style of the premium translite artwork, unique yet familiar
Furthermore you still get the ‘movie poster’ on both sides of the premium head box
For me, that was enough to change my order from Le to premium
Oh, and a little bit of Chief Brody on the premium side art cabinet, very nice

I actually prefer the premium artwork on the cab but can go either way on the translite. The movie poster is so iconic so I can see swapping to that.

I’m also not a huge fan of the Prem Translite and have purchased a Prem. My wife likes it….. so not sure what I will do

Got invoiced for my Premium today, was told it ships Monday

I think premium cab art is cool too. I ordered a pro translite which will complete the head set since the premium is the only model with the original artwork on the sides.

#1288 6 months ago

I think I will just wait for the eventual 15k 50th anniversary edition that we know will get released next year

Same! It was a lot quicker than I expected, so now I need to do some decluttering to make room this weekend hah

For anyone who has a pro and would like a more movie accurate version of the shark - I have a mod that I’ll be putting up in my shop soon.

That looks really good! If I had a pro I’d be picking that up. Think you could create a similar build on a premium/LE shark?

It looks like Stern used the same model for both, so no reason this couldn’t drop into a Prem/LE, providing the one for prem/le can take hits from the ball.

I'm bad at this operating thing, wasting paltry dollar plays on mods but...Really dig this pop cap from slipstream. Pretty slick for $30 if you ask me. I stocked up on transparent pop parts recently for other projects, so I tossed in a clear blue body and teal skirt while I was at it. Not gonna make extra quarters, but makes me happy. :p

I received my backboard lighthouse mod. Looks fantastic now I just need my LE to put it on! Tick tock Stern!

My premium is being delivered tomorrow. Just got the call from Fed Ex.

#1299 6 months ago

After 80+ games racked up I noticed some issues. Spinner was not great. Since it will not clear wireform to pull out I just removed 4 screws that hold base. Notice how dirty the shaft was. Clean with novus 2 and back in. Huge difference. I found the same thing with the flippers. Cleaned paw shaft and sleeve. Works so much better to make shots up the ramps.
