    Is Jaws for real ?

    #55 8 years ago

I like the idea of using Kiss playfield for Jaws, kinda like Shrek n family guy

    #56 8 years ago

Maybe a shark cage toy like the box in TOM.

I'm shocked Williams didn't make this back in the day. Its a fantastic theme! Is there real talk at Stern about this?

They were approached multiple times, being considered for 40th.

Was dumped last fall, but Stern has a newer agenda now, and is listening again, so I re-approached the idea from another angle.

I don't know if I can wait until 2025, but that will be the 50th anniversary for JAWS hey Wizard of Oz was a 75 year old theme... you never know.

I vote for John Youssi to contribute to the art for Jaws:

There’s all kinds of chatter right now on the “The Next Stern” thread about JAWS being Stern’s next game. There seems to be more and more indications that it’s really going to happen.

    What indications?

    #70 3 years ago
    Quoted from snowy_owl:

    What indications?

People in the Stern camp (Zombie Yeti, etc.) have been dropping hints (some might call them teasers) about JAWS lately. And Kaneda (who I guess has been fairly accurate in this department) predicted Stern would make JAWS this year...he said that before ending his run as a podcaster. I've read other hints like that on the "The Next Stern Pin" thread. I see you are on there too, so you probably read the same stuff I did. It may just be wishful thinking from those of us who very much want a JAWS pin, but we gotta cling to something, I guess.

    Jaws + Stern = Fail

    #73 3 years ago

    JAWS 45th. Let’s do it!

    #74 3 years ago

They could make it a musical pin a la Dickie Goodman. Gotta love when this pops up on Sirius.

Seriously Jaws would be good with chum lighting effects - get the blood in the water hurry up!

Just saw the other Fish Tales aka JAWS Tales retheme in another thread… got me thinking of this thread. I’m pretty confident Stern will be 3 years to go for a JAWS 50th Anniversary Pin!!

Why are you “pretty confident”? I haven’t seen or heard anything to indicate they’ll do Jaws, and Stern generally doesn’t care about timing releases with anniversaries. I’d love a jaws pin. It’s my dream theme, but sadly I think that boat has sunk.

    #79 2 years ago

My dream theme too. I love all things Jaws. Why won't they make a Jaws pin? Is it a problem getting the licenses?

To those that missed it or didn't click the thread... recently this was added to Universal JAWS licensing "TESS".... the long rumored & overdue / wished for title by me and other JAWS fans looks like this summer it could FINALLY happen! Or we might just get more JAWS Stress release exercise balls.

Yup. Next year…possibly the next cornerstone release by Stern. Start saving your money. Actually, we should’ve started saving a while ago because it won’t be cheap.

I can see similar pricing convention with a slight increase where the Pro would be $7500, (this is based on price increase along with the year the movie came out) Premium $9999 LE will be around $13,499. Just on theme alone with its cult following, It really wouldn’t surprise me if they sell out this title. Likely will make a $14,999 50th in 2025. Based on its popularity alone I could also see them selling “1975” Limited Editions of this game. So 1000 LE’s now perhaps 975 “50th Anniversary” editions in 2025. Or on this title I can see them perhaps making 75 SLE’s at crazy prices. To the tune of $19,750.00.

Indianapolis story mode. Timed to the length of the Quint's monologue from the movie....while it plays in the background. Make shots to save or eat men in the water and have the playfield go in and out of dark (no lights on). Get to the end and Quint is the last man saved and you get a bonus.

    #90 8 months ago
    Quoted from Yellowdog:

    Some toy suggestions:
    1) Three buoys, you hit them and they sink into the playfield. Only to reappear a few minutes later.
    2) A fin that goes across the playfield (like the mist ball in BSD). Hit it for extra points.
    3) A mini scuba tank that blows up when hit
    4) Ball lock goes through the jagged hole in the bottom of a boat.
    ken

RIP Yellowdog. He was 8 years ahead of his time with his Jaws idea.

Yep and if they made it 8 years ago I would probably be asking Ken Layton how to fix the shark inevitably when it breaks. This hobby has lost lots of great people both on pinside and off since this original JAWS thread started... Sadly this game won't be coded by LFS... May he also RIP. ... And to Who Dey aka Terry Ritchie who would want it to be a "Tiger Shark" wearing a Bengals Jersey.

Would it surprise anyone if they reused the TRex ball grab by simply replacing it with a shark head? It would certainly save costs.

I actually much prefer the T-Rex toy on the Data East Jurassic park as opposed to the Stern updated Jurassic park T-Rex toy. With that being said the Shark should bite / & swallow the ball. Or perhaps munch on the ball and the ORCA ship could sink into the playfield.

It could also have a single random red pop bumper buoy with the tiny bell. I think Chrissie Watkins first death scene is iconic and they should somehow incorporate that single red Buoy into the game. Perhaps place that single pop bumper buoy on a gimbal to make it act / look more like a buoy when it gets struck.

Cool art... TALKS now of a PREMIUM / LE / SLE for JAWS... (Just like Batman 66) And wouldn't surprise me if it's a hit to have a likely the 50th Anniversary in 2025. I would be surprised if they don't make a Pro... but next upcoming months time will tell.

I’d love to see a shark fin pop up and “swim” from a couple places on the playfield. It could be a timed mode where you need to hit the fin X number of times to complete the mode. It should resemble chief Brody trying to blow up the air tank from the first jaws. “Smile you son of a bitch!”

Supposedly it does. At least on a drac trac (think Monster Bash)type of mech.

I've been begging for a JAWS for a long long time... before the **NEXT STERN** Thread started!
History repeats itself.... these are some of my favorite threads on pinside, I want JAWS so badly !!!!
