Quoted from Boof-Ed:If this hybrid playfield plays well and holds up I can see other manufacturers taking notice. Will eliminate all the playfield issues at present.

I love the idea. and i am in on a ME.

This week in pinball May 17, 2021

https://www.thisweekinpinball.com/this-week-in-pinball-5-17-21-the-mandalorian-reveal-george-gomez-talks-dimples-and-alternative-materials-and-alien-streams/

"On dimpling and materials, and polycarbonate and the thickness of it and how that changes targets and gameplay:"

"George Gomez: You can make it work, those guys in Europe put the plastic on the playfields, which by the way I think is absolutely atrocious. We spend so much time trying to make a pinball machine feel the way it does and shoot the way it does. And then these guys come and add a sixteenth of an inch and everybody says “oh, it’s just a couple millimeters”…yeah I know, but the position of your drop target or your standup target or your ramp flap, whatever, relative to the – you didn’t move the target up, so the ball is hitting the target at a different place, at a different height…[and] on the plastic, the ball tends to slide as opposed to roll on certain shots. When it skips, forget about it…it is a wild ball. That is the issue with the polycarbonate solution."

Quoted from Clytor:

George is mostly talking about playfield protectors, it sounds like.

I think your correct. the couple of millimeters that George speaks of, through me off. the playfield protectors are only 0.5mm (0.02‘‘) thickness. and not the thickness of a couple of millimeters.

Quoted from ausretrogamer:

Australia ain’t in Europe, so GG isn’t referring to Haggis.

Got it. I missed that.

Quoted from oldskool1969:

feel the stoke and pride

Haggis pinball is certainly a labor of love. I am so happy to support this project. Aussies rock!

Quoted from flynnibus:

- The pretty significant projector element. Surprised there is no plex over the hole, maybe they had reflection issues. PDIglass for cabinet bottoms now?

I think the plexi is under the hole. I see the reflection of the of the ‘motion light show box’ on the plexi.

The paint job, decal, wrap, or whatever it is… on this cab looks incredible!
Furthermore, the whole build quality from what I can see, after hitting the pause button several times in YouTube video, here and there. looks pretty amazing!

I've got 1 for sale on the pinside marketplace and it's pending.

Wow! If my math is correct… that’s a $8800 profit!

Quoted from visualmagic:Just about to sleep, but here's a photo of the machine before cutting the plastic off it if that helps Jeff believe it's a real machine?
There's no conspiracy. Unpacked this like any Stern really. Not the same exact packaging but similar.

It looks great! Is the head (back box) on hinges?

Quoted from punkin:

I know how the Haggis system works today.
After trying to slide the playfield of my Celts forward yesterday and having it drop into the cab.

I noticed Fathom has no slide rails. how does it work?
I wonder if these could be attached;

Quoted from Dwboca:

My wife and I took a ride out to Rochester so we could play the haggis games. She's now sold that I made a good buy with getting in on the Mermaid Fathom. She also is now interested in a Celts. Go figure.
They have a lot of great games there, but Fathom kept our attention for 75g of the time there.

75grams? You Guys are Heavy hitters!

Quoted from gprotein:

With $250 credit and $500 you would have to pay for PPS shipping it to you, so around $1000 extra for air fright to save about 6-9months long of wait time. Is that even a hard decision?

$1700ish air freight for mid-west USA -$500ish for PPS freight is $1200ish difference…

#5099 1 year ago
Quoted from rai:

But they said they’d give you $250 credit towards the air freight.

1700 is with the 250 credit included

Here's the culprit.
I appreciate all the responses. Thanks.

Replace the shooter tip rubber. Put a 6/32 (pinball nut, or equivalent) inside the rubber tip, then slip it on. (my OG shooter rubber was cut shot on the back, that is why you probably need a new tip, for the extra rubber to slide on the shaft, after installing the nut inside.

That will give you the extra extended reach you need for a good plunge. (Just remember to pull the plunger back before raising the playfield)

The airballs from the 123 drops are plentiful in this game…

My solution was a 1/16” thick clear acrylic sheet from Amazon. A dremel with a plastic cutting wheel, and a stone attachment to round the edges, and a drill for two mounting holes. I then mounted the homemade acrylic piece under the green plastic protector, and then I placed the original plastic on top, with a washer under each acron nut. There was just enough bit for the top nuts to accommodate this three layer setup.

It’s not laser cut. More of a home brew mod I came up with. But no more air balls!

What is the most recent code for Fathom .85 still? I don't see it on their website.
