yes prepaying the whole thing is just silly

Oh my gosh all your Games are Old!

So did you buy one even though you own it already?

Quoted from Doctor6:

I'm a little nervous as I have still not received an email about me getting the mermaid edition, officially, yet. Everyone knowing their numbers is freaking me out.

I wouldn't worry!.
They just reached out to me and confirmed I'm #72 which I asked to be.
He's extremely busy and will get to you soon I'm sure.
It sounded like they are a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

Quoted from rotordave:

PayPal factors their fees into their charges, and don’t tell you about it. They also give you a shitty exchange rate.
If you directly paid $1500 AUD in USD it would be $1167.
The cheapest way (believe me, I send a lot of dough!) is to do an international bank transfer. The cost is the exchange rate factor (usually a point or so) and generally a $15-20 bank fee, depending on the bank.
I use PayPal for low amounts as it’s easy and hassle free. But for anything over say $1000 ... bank transfer.
You’ll all want to set up bank transfers when it comes time to pay the balance. It will save you hundreds of dollars.

[quoted image]

Oh man really?
That's why I paid 1267 ish?
Wow
I'll pay direct when final bill comes.
Thanks!

#2562 2 years ago
Quoted from Pinzap:

punkin, I don’t always agree with what you write. You can be controversial and brash and generally not nice sometimes (imho). But like you said above, nobody is owed niceness from you and nobody is owed anything from Haggis except a final product once ready. I read this thread daily and keep my mouth shut time and time again as the pitchfork nation rallies behind the call for more updates or else. Here a a few thoughts that run through my head (as a patient customer with an early deposit).
1. Putting a deposit down on anything that is not ready to ship immediately comes with risk. If someone wasn’t ready to take that risk, they probably should have thought about this before sending the deposit. I personally believe the risk is extremely low at this point that everyone won’t receive a pin, but I certainly can’t say it’s zero because until they’re built and shipped, anything could happen.
2. Some people are trying to tell Haggis what their next move should be (to provide an update). But imho, if Damien were to provide an update, the pitchfork nation would only tear it apart and find something else to complain about. They’ll do this because ultimately what they want is their pin. Thus, the only logical move (and sound business decision) is for Damien to make his next move be the actual shipping of pins… a lot of them. This is what I’d do if I were him, and it’s really the only move that will shut people up and satisfy the majority (or vocal minority, you pick).
3. This has taken longer than many of us had hoped, including me. Big deal… see #1. The world doesn’t operate on my personal timeline. I adjust and deal with it. Teaming up as a mob to somehow coerce the timeline to act differently likewise has no effect. Let’s all go play some pinball and be happy today that we’re not getting bombed out of our homes and land.

Didn't read all this because I'm lazy but I agree with the part I did read.

The darn game will come when it comes don't we all have enough machines already anyway.

#2693 2 years ago
Quoted from oldskool1969:

You are reading way too much into it.
I am not getting my game first any more as I had to relinquish my series holder, you happy now .
Sounds like you are having a sook because someone showed me a little empathy when I asked for a reprieve.
None of your business otherwise and I probably shouldn’t have posted anything.
BTW I was one of the very first to order Celts.

Thanks for the story hopefully everything's OK in your guy's world.

Downunder

#2766 2 years ago

Can anybody in here explain to me why the heck you give a crud when the game coming?
Seems you all have games already.

The game is going to be built and delivered.
I just don't understand the impatient.

I have a great idea people play your other machines until this one shows up.

Quoted from Ballypinball:

There is no way as long as my arse points to the ground your game will be shipping in 8 weeks, happy to make bets with people.

I'm assuming once it ships still looking 8 to 12 months longer.

Simple, send no money.

#4035 1 year ago
Quoted from Screwloose:

Yes I do believe you could pre-order classics & I have seen people state that they ordered them.
I think there are some people around that would just like a faithful reproduction of the original machine. To look, feel & play like the original without the 2.0 code etc.

Absolutely there are.
There are also people who enjoy playing Spacejam as misguided as they are.

#4069 1 year ago

Falling for 1970s and 1980s machines over the last year.
I almost never touch my newer machines?

Anyone else experience this oddness?

#4083 1 year ago

The simplicity is much more calming as stated above.
I can't help but wonder if a lot of it has to do with the increased prices in the hobby?
I've turned my back on new titles for now that could have to do with me enjoying older machines?

#4136 1 year ago
Quoted from punkin:

There's a Grey Nomad movement here where on retirement all the working class take their life savings and spend it on a new landcruiser and a whopping great caravan to spite their kids. They use as a slow moving road block on the highways and in the towns. They spend a couple years driving round the country before selling it all for a quarter what they paid for it and boring people with stories for the rest of their lives.
Well, those couples, when the go across the middle, travel in convoys and keep in tight communication. Plan their stops at reputable homesteads etc. They don't camp by the side of the road like they do on the coast.

They have Not reached out to me.

I was on board immediately when announced.
Approximately 2 to 3 days after announcement.

Ordered directly from Haggis.

Still not worried

Just letting everyone know.

#4780 1 year ago
Quoted from Damonator:

You are likely towards the end of the run - check your order number and it should give you an approximate estimation (minus a few Celts and Club Haggis orders).
If I remember correctly, only Club Haggis members could order for the first 24 hours? I ordered after the Club Haggis order window and was order #238. My guess is that puts me in the middle of the run.

I reached out to Haggis just in case.

Quoted from Rizmo:

What does shipping cost to get it to the states?

Zero.

It ships to planetary pinball for free then they ship to you. You'll pay freight from there my guess would be around $300.

That's what it was when first ordered anyhow?

#4814 1 year ago
Quoted from Jecco74:

$1600 for air freight. Ask Haggis for details.

I don't waste money when I can wait for cheaper route.

Quoted from rai:

I took over a Mermaid deposit from a Pinside friend, the wait begins.
I have never played Fathom before and have not played a lot of 80s pins. Not sure if I’ll love it, but it looks great and it’ll be hard to see one on location so I take a chance.
Closest pin in my collection is TNA no ramps, in-line drops, lock stealing etc.

I've never played it either.
Never even seen one in person.
Lately I've become addicted to 78 to 81 Bally machines and found it completely different from my modern machines.
Fun Fun Fun

#4829 1 year ago
Quoted from Boof-Ed:

It’s free shipping to planetary and you pay from there to you but only on the mermaids. Classic editions pay for shipping from haggis factory.

But who would ever buy regular when you can have a Sexy Mermaid?

#4840 1 year ago
Quoted from kklank:

You make a real good point about the old Ballys leveling the playfield for competition.
I got to a point where I could compete with just about anybody on new Sterns, JJps etc. but I would get my ass handed to me on late 70’s and early 80’s games so I started buying them. Now…..I couldn’t imagine not having a Fathom, EK , Star Trek or my gambling favorite….Dolly.
Short ball times and very addictive.
You have to learn how to play these games because it’s a different style of play.

Why would you say your favorite is Dolly darn it I passed one up locally a while back not knowing.
Rats!

#4850 1 year ago
Quoted from rotordave:

You keep saying that, but you’d need to drink a pallet of Coopers to think that.
There are some similarities…
1/ they’re both Ballys
2/ they were both made in 1981
3/ they have similar cabinets
That’s about it.
Fathom has 2 banks of inlines for bonus
Centaur has the top lanes
Fathom has 2 ball locks and a unique release
Centaur has no ball locks and a very unique launch system
Fathom has a spinner
Centaur has none
Centaur has a magnet catch
Fathom has none
Playing them is totally different. Every goal on the playfield is in a different place on each machine.
And they do look nice next to each other.
rd[quoted image]

Sorry
Your collection is not big enough to enter the conversation.

These are not the droids you were looking for move along.

In a word
Your lineup is Spectacular!

#4851 1 year ago
Quoted from punkin:

Except that i have owned both of the sets that we are talking about at the same time, so that goes to water. It's not an excuse for not owning both, as i owned both of all 4 titles. It's a limited space here and i want more variation.
Everyone is different dude, but if you think i'm making excuses for being poor then you do you.

Your collection is Bitchen as well.
I understand the space issue as well and thank goodness I don't have more room because if I did I'd never ever stop buying these God forsaken Toys.

#4853 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinballer31520:

Still not many Fathoms shipping huh ?

Haggis reached out today and said still shipping but slow moving.
I kind of figured that anyhow.

Not sure if that helps answer your question

#4856 1 year ago
Quoted from punkin:

This just in. Some people are not allowed to have an opinion, and if they do have a thought it is wrong.
Fact is, i found them to similar, so sold the one i believed the lesser. Fact.
I no longer have them next to each other so can't go back into all the details and don't need to justify myself to the likes of you even if i did.
Dave just disagrees with me, you want to be nasty about it. It's a character trait and you demonstrate it often to others. That's why you are always in arguments.

I have much more space, i live in a big warehouse, i can afford more machines, but i set myself rules.

Make no mistake Sir.
Living in a warehouse sound very interesting.

OK so it's only 250 dollar discount they've allocated. Unfortunately with the incredible amount they're looking to get these days for air shipping, I may have to ship it by sea rather than to pay almost 2k to get it by air. So I just got my invoice and have a question. Is everyone really wiring this money to them? Seems fishy. I paid the deposit through PayPal (Damian’s account). Not sure why I can’t just do the same or pay by cc.

I asked Haggis the exact same question. They are only accepting wire transfers so I went ahead and sent $.

Just the way it is.

Quoted from oldskool1969:

I have to agree with all the above statements , it would be nice if they continued with all stated promises.
But at the end of the day, shit happens.
I think we all know that a combination of Covid and all its long felt ramifications ie. staff, supply, lockdowns etc. and also spoilt shit heads on public forums had a lot to do with these current issues.
I wish I had my mermaid now, I have been told next year, which I understand.
A hell of a lot of people have reached out to not only me but others asking what I and others think and the answer is always the same.
Haggis idea was and started off AWESOME in its initial selling points BUT they have suffered issues which made the goal posts change. Believe me, they won't be happy about the world at present either.
I wish they were more transparent and forthright BUT it is a small BOUTIQUE Pinball Company and do what's best to stay afloat and build peoples machines. They are building/ delivering pinball machines.
Maybe we could all do with a Christmas video keeping us up to date on their business and our machines?
My faith is strong. Go Haggis. Celts is AWESOME
Remember that are not even close to Stern, Spooky, AP, CGC etc. but a very small business with a great product which can only grow.

Quoted from surfnrg:

Air freight for me being in LA was $1600. But it would cost me $600 to ship it from Sparks, NV, so the additional is really only $1000 for me. Why not, can't wait for my game. Should be here in 2 weeks. Will take some video.

From Sparks is definitely not $600 more like 250 to 300.

Only NAVL would be $600

#5931 1 year ago

You mean with all my waiting the only thing I'm goning to gain in the end is a new pinball machine?

Quoted from John_I:

Yeah I figure mine will be one of the last ones made, because I doubt they've sold more than 15-20 classics total. Waiting for sea freight won't add months and months like the current wait to fill up a canister. Even if it is a partial canister, it still will be a decent savings.

I'm actually getting quite tired of waiting at this point.

Guess I'll just wait some more.

Quoted from Meldenhut:

Had my fathom since 20th of October last year and it’s been rock solid. Out of the box I spent about 30 minutes just checking some gapping on switches to get it the way I liked (honestly didn’t really change much) and since then the only time I have raised the playfield is to show people the quality of the machine. Inside the machine is honestly just as pretty as the top. The quality is unmatched in my opinion.
I would have somewhere in the range of 700 games in at the moment. (And I still suck haha) but I do love the 2.0 code. I don’t play the original code unless I have people over who know fathom and they want to play it.
I’m on the latest code which fixed the early bugs I encountered (not adding bonus at end of ball is the one I distinctly remember)
I will leave my machines on for 2-3 days at a time and haven’t had any software hang ups.

Very cool.
Thanks

Today Haggis said they will ship my game on a container.
Man I hope they mean it.

Quoted from Haymaker:

Can you clarify if what they meant was that they will be shipping it via container today or very soon, or if they simply meant they will ship it in a container once they have enough to fill a container? If you meant they are actually shipping it via container soon, then I imagine there will be a lot of happy folks happy their games will finally be on the way!

Container filled and leaving end of August this year this month.

God, there's some horrible people in the world.
Tear anyone down, just in the hope they get to say they were right.

Seam the one guy talking smack has a weak collection and probably can't afford Mermaid.
