Quoted from Pinballer73:

I've broken rule #1

Not only that, you are claiming superior education and intelligence, yet you are bickering with some moron on the internet that even if you prove your point can't do anything to change your little crisis.

If that is the benefit in staying at school I'm not even slightly convinced that it has made you a better person than me.

Not to get ahead of things with Fathom still apparently not in full production... Too bad it is all Bally's and there isn't a Stern or two in the mix. Stargazer would be awesome. Have you seen the prices of them lately?

OK back to the fighting.

I've been so stoked about getting a Fathom that now I'm thinking of looking elsewhere in the meantime.

Does anyone remember MikeD's absolutely over-the-top restoration of this title? I mean, every single individual wire and screw was cleaned and it was an absolute beyond amazing restoration that he made for himself. The Haggis version was to be the closest thing I could get to something like that (still have hope, btw). Although something like Mike's restoration would be something beyond special if you ask me.

Here's a like to PMD's Fathom restoration.. a true mind-blowing piece of work and art that is worth another look at this fantastic title...

Let's hope we hear something from Haggis... soon!

I see you have 133 machines in your collection. And you mention that you have invested thousands with Haggis. So how many machines did you purchase on pre order in your collection, and what amount with Haggis?

2 Mermaid ordered

Quoted from pinlink:

Remeber how Deeproot had 2 threads? One to discuss reality, and another one for only people that put down deposits could discuss how great the games were going to be and when they would be shipping.
When you start saying things like "you shouldn't voice your opinion/concern unless you have a deposit down" you create the same type of echo chamber that the deeproot pre-order folks did. Good luck, everyone.

I think people are getting defensive here because there are many on this forum who get off seeing these startups go south and people losing money so they can pat themselves on the back and bust out a bunch of “I told you so” and “a fool and his money…” posts. And it feels like they’re lurking. I knew the risk going in and while I’m not elated at how things have gone so far, I still believe in Haggis. I love seeing companies like Spooky shoot their shot and nail it.

Well put Chisox. I’m with ya 110%.

Just had a really good chat with Damián on the phone. He rang me 2 mins after i'd logged a service ticket through their website.

Had a nice chat about the code and some feedback on my Celts experience. pretty sure he took my suggestions on board and said he will sound the coder out about them and see what kind of compromise they can reach.

Really nice approachable bloke.

Any day now . The update will be in earnest with apologies thrown in .

#2227 2 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

All of the above plus Kaneda.

People just choose what they want to hear from him.

If you truly listen to him, Kaneda has actually been playing both sides of this. He will say something like: Haggis has all of the earmarks of a Heighway Pinball. Then later he will say something like: But I think Fathom will eventually get made and delivered.

Why he straddles the fence like that I don't know but its his show and a very successful one at that.

But the people that Chisox posted about, the negative people, only hear his Heighway type comments and then they come here.

Kaneda is an opinion entertainer and provocateur, but he is not the problem. The problem is a small segment of his fanbase are mindlessly excitable and unable to think for themselves. Personally I'm embarrassed for them when they come to Pinside and do his bidding.

FYI: I took a much needed break from Kaneda but now I'm back to listening to him again. He makes me laugh at times and cringe at other times. But he is always thought provoking.

- Hi Chris.

So a couple of thousand invested? See you have a poll going for about 25 other machines that are on back order with other distributers on Pinside. Reckon that Haggis should be left alone from your diatribe ATM.......

The point is that Haggis are not the only manufacturer out there with machines on back order.Does that compute in your little brain?

I really wish there was an option for choosing powercoat colors for the Mermaid like they did with Celts. I understand why they didn't because it's easier to make one type, but I really don't like chrome.

The chrome looks great and fits the overall retro look IMO.

Looks really nice but the cut out for those drop targets is off, that would annoy me.
Still wouldn’t say no to one though!

Stern is running their line flat out on a dozen titles, Haggis only has to produce one.

With only 250 of them and most people wanting to keep their game, the second hand market is going to be expensive. My guess is $20K USD.

Whatever d0n says they go for.

#2243 2 years ago

I can’t want to see d0n playing a 4-game game.

#2244 2 years ago

I'm looking forward to hearing he flipped one back to someone who couldn't wait.

#2245 2 years ago

It looks very good, hopefully the target hole will be better aligned, also the plastic of the drop targets looks cheap ( green and blue ones ) but I guess they are just placeholders. Patiently waiting for mine. Looking at the pictures I will probably add light green or blue plastic leg protectors

Is there anything different on game play or call outs between Haggis Fathom and Bally?
What are deltas between games?

Assume all components on circuit boards is going to be surface mount.

Sorry if discussed before.

Mermaid edition will let you choose between original code and sound and new new modern code and sound, supposedly
