Lotta fucking money in any case.

#1302 2 years ago
Quoted from John_I:

Fathom is the game at the top of my classic Bally list. I can order a Mando Premium for cheaper or maybe a Godzilla, so there is that consideration too.

I have seen this game in the flesh. It is built better than a Mando. For me it was "love at 1st sight" & I have no regrets committing to it & I am more a dmd era man. You would have to spend a shitload of money on an original to get it anywhere near this machine.

Yes. point right there. I have a Beautiful Fathom already. It's worth 7 or 8k second hand here to the right buyer.
I couldn't get it to the new game stage for less than 4 or 5 k to pay someone to do it, and no way i can take on a project like that alone.

So i'm at 14k allup to restore the one i have or spend the $11,500au on a new one. Mermaid edition no less.

Quoted from LTG:

Looking at the playfield layout. Return lane stuff. Two drop target banks, polished ball lane guides. I don't think it could be done for $5K.
Mirrored backglass too, isn't it ? Not a translite.
LTG : )

There is so much packed under a fathom Playfield there is literally no room for anything else. Makes a Stern pro look baron.

It’s the LE of this era!

Quoted from John_I:

Personally I would rather have the Fathom no matter what the price, because GNR game play bores me and I don't like the music.

Amen man. Feels like blasphemy to speak of the 'hallow' title that way here lol. The music alone was enough to make me turn the other way from it too.

Eh, I still like GNR's cover of Live and Let Die.

I'm just starting on a second Flash Gordon resto, only Medusa looks more complicated. There is a LOT going on under some of these old Bally playfields.

And yes, my Stern Star Trek Prem looked barren in comparison.

Newest update

That’s the best update I think we’ve had. Very concrete and gives me a huge amount of confidence in this. Bally’s classics are in good hands.

Look forward to seeing the factory once it’s up and running. Love how much of it is being done in house, though with no pinball industry in Australia (Haggis IS the pinball industry) they don’t really have a choice.

Our very own Spooky!! Woo hoo.

Well I was there Thursday afternoon. What Damian said in the video is spot on with my observations. I walk away feeling the same way.

Those photos and report you posted were great. One day, Covid permitting, I’ll pop in and visit also. So rewarding to be “involved” in production of a game you’ll eventually own.

Best update ? Really ? 50 Celts orders being filled now out of production of 200. Then onto Fathom. He's standing in front of the same background shot with the same 5 partially built Celts games that was posted here the other day after a factory tour. Celts is only getting started now! "Bally's classics are in good hands" There's more coming ? Can't wait.

A quick proto Fathom vid would be very nice and most welcome right now, easy to do, yes? No one is that busy, surely. Pull your I Phone from your pocket.

Have you ordered a Fathom?

You could always pull your iphone out of your pocket and give him a call. I’m sure he’d be happy to talk.

#1316 2 years ago

Great update. Damian’s enthusiasm is delightful to see as he works on this Herculean trial

As to why they haven’t shown off much of the Mermaid Edition, Id wager it’s that they’re still working to polish the new software. I’m sure they’ll show it off as soon as they think it’s ready to show off.

Besides they have lots of other things to give updates about. It’d be nice to see the new software, but the manufacturing is what really matters at the end of the day. They can push software updates if need be. They gotta get the line running first though and I’m sure that’s the priority.

#1317 2 years ago

I believe their stated plan (Marty from a podcast I believe) was to not really show off the 2.0 software - they wanted to let people explore the game on their own when the receive them.

That’s worth a listen also…..think it was the latest Final Round?

Anyone know if they’re building in Metric or Imperial?

Probably. It was one where Marty was a principal on the podcast I think

Well, I mean they've got 20 Celts cabs to still build over the next couple weeks, and then they're starting on the Fathom cabs. So that seems like good progress. I assume then we'll start to see some pics of Fathom production, which will be great to see!

I seen the other celts cabs he mentions in the various states of construction. There were about 10 in the spray booth. But an enormous amount of work has gone on just setting up the factory to this point. I would love to see it again when it's finished. The main point of my visit was to see. in the flesh. the machines I have committed 20 thousand bucks to. I left very happy with what I seen there & I know that they will be built within a reasonable time frame,

I have a few photos of Fathom too. But they are soft porn strickly for personal use only.

You should make the run up the coast one Sunday for comp here mate. It's only 2.5 hours.

I'd say he's been politely asked not to.

Yeah have to agree there too, hard not to like anyone's rendition of that Wings classic. Back in the days of T2 I also didn't mind You Could be Mine but grew past it.

Guess music is one thing we're not that worried about with Fathom lol

#1329 2 years ago

Wow. It seems like this company keeps getting better and better. I hope they are putting out more games soon. I am very interested.

Give me a PM or connect through the book when you are ready and i'll give you the addy. There's a spare flat with bathroom here too if you want to have a few beers and crash the night.

Here's a link to the real-estate listing of Haggis's new building complete with pictures. It's from before they recently moved in but I always find stuff like this interesting. It kinda helps visualize the surroundings when watching Damian's video updates.

It certainly wouldn't be "cheap" this building. Whilst it's about 45 minutes drive south east from the heart of Melbourne it's located in a large modern industrial estate with many other quality businesses around. He will need to keep the machines moving out the door to keep the rent paid.

#1337 2 years ago

it's much cheaper than wages and much cheaper than commercial space in a shopping centre - think he got himself a good deal. Hats off to Damian and his team, great to have a true aussie pinball manufacturer. Though reckon once production ramps up he will outgrow this space in the near future.

Yeah that's how it works. I expanded 5 times in 6 years. Last two were organic expansion as i took over more units in the same building, so not as painful thankfully.

Any chance of a DBA-ready coin-door option? I'll be putting my Fathom on location, and it would really be nice to have the ability to accept dollar bills.

Pretty much all pins released stateside since the mid-90s have had coin doors with a DBA slot cutout. But I get there are aesthetic considerations with this particular game.

#1340 2 years ago

I wish you could order machines without a coin door. Just art and a thumblock for the lockdown bar.

At least offer it as an option guys. It will save you money by not doing it and i'll pay the same price.

Hell, i'd buy conversion panels for all my machines.

I get your point but we need easy access to the control buttons inside the door along with anything we might store inside. (I'm assuming Haggis will use those control buttons)
You might be able to do something creative with a blank door if you're motivated. Personally I like the look of a full feature coin door or maybe I'm just accustom to it.

That door would provide a great nice big "canvas" for more artwork too!

#1344 2 years ago

I like it with coin door as I put my loose change in to play so you get the coins drop sound and also helps with upkeep costs and deposit for future " STUFF "
I have a note accept on my BBH so it helps with the video game side

I like the sound of that. Like this one that’s floating across the pond as we speak.

Put the menu buttons under the lockdown bar please. One thumb lock lets the bar up, menu accessible, glass off if you want in the cab.

I remember that you charge your friends to play, so you order the non HUO one with the coin door.

You are in a very small minority in not wanting a coin door. There was almost a worldwide revolution over MMr not coming with coin mechanisms on the back of the coin door. To me a coin door is tradition and games without it would not look right just like not having a back glass.
