Since I know everyone in here is always looking for more info... I don't have a whole lot but I'll just pass along what little I know...

Over the past week or so I've sent Damian several emails. He's responded sometimes the same day, and sometimes in a few days. Important thing is that he's responded to every email I've sent him in the past two years.

This past week he told me that he expected my game to be ready for assembly in 14 weeks but was hoping to shorten the timeline.

My game is #249. I ordered early but deliberately asked for the latest number (250 was either taken or just not available) in order to give myself as much time as possible to raise funds. However, I don't think this matters as I believe that they make the games in the order of which the orders are received. That is what Damian told me way back when orders were first taken but this could have changed. Previously, he told me that I could wait till the end, regardless.

Just for the record, I'm not opposed to Haggis making unique 'Mermaid' edition stuff available to future purchasers of 'regular' Mermaids. I'd rather them do what they have to do to survive. I don't believe 'greed' has anything to do with it. I'm not saying anybody is wrong for being opposed. I completely understand why people who have purchased 'Mermaid' editions would be upset about it. Though, admittedly, it doesn't matter to me that the games are limited. I would have purchased the game at the same price even if it was unlimited.

Heard a rumour today next one could be Cosmic Gunfight.....

Hmmm. Hard to tell if you are joking. That's a Williams game. Planetary most likely has the right to this, while not out of the question I highly doubt it. Haggis themselves describes the season ticket as "current Bally Classics series". Beside that, if they are going to make a System 7 game, how about Barracora or something people actually want?

Planetary won't sell their rights?

Lots of people want Cosmic Gunfight here. There's none around.

But outrageous is the best rumour if you are going to have a rumour.

They have 4 spots reserved at Pinfest Newcastle this year. They took two Mermaids last year......

Stay tuned for a September announcement in any case, that's my 2c worth of true goss.

Decided to restore my OG Fathom instead of replacing with Mermaid - just personal preference. So think I’m going to list my Mermaid NIB if anyone’s interested. Can help with shipping to US if no interest down here.

It would be a shame not to open and have a bash before moving it on.
I understand your logic but to see two of these games up for sale and I still don’t have mine, makes me a little puzzled
As to why wait so long and not even flip it.

Mines still in the box too. I've got no room at the moment.

I agree. would be great to flip it. Just figured it would open up options to sell to the US is still in box - makes shipping the same as if a US buyer were to buy directly from Haggis. Plus I don't even have the space at the moment to set it up.

I’ve been flipping mine for 10 months. The game just isn’t for me. I’ve also done the same and listed mine for US buyers. There is no interest in Oz for the game.

Machine - For Sale
As new - New out of box (first owner) - “Basically new. Huo. I’m the original buyer. Minimal use. Still have the original box and can repack for shipping. Bugs have been ironed out. Ready for play.”

hello I send haggis an email a few days ago, but still haven't gotten a reply. Basically, the game starts but nothing happens all the lights light up all he targets hit down when you hit them with your finger. but the ball won't go into the shooter lane and the flippers won't flip.

All the coils works in test mode, and I tested the 48 VDC and it checks out so everything seems to be working. something is janky going on with the software I guess. when I tried to download the lastest fathom update it downloads as "Celts" so I didnt't want to install it. I'm at a loss as to what to do, it's pretty game. I checked all the Rj45 connectors, not sure what else to do. btw is there is supposed to be a 2032 battery in the fast board? mine doesn't have anything in it.
thanks

#6361 3 months ago

They've taken the Classic Fathoms off the website now if that means anything. So no more for sale. Honestly, you would be crazy not to buy one of the ME's listed on here for almost the same price anyway. Can not believe they sold any Classics even after the 2.0 code was released.

Try the actual owners club - more actual owners in there.

The fathom code on the download is indeed named 'celts'.. Guess they didnt get around to updating the installer to understand celts vs fathom file names yet..

If it helps anyone with this, I have a friend who is fully paid up with a mermaid and waiting for it to be built. You can take over his spot and get it shipped straight from Haggis and he will take my game as it’s virtually new. If you choose the container it will be free shipping to planetary I think it was.

Still waiting on mine as well.

I guess if it won't sell ya keep it wether you want to or not! good news IMHO

Or if you want to get rid of it you keep it up for sale until it goes. If there was really that much demand for this title it would have gone or at least had more inquiries than I got.
I wonder how many people that said they wanted this title which prompted the extra games actually ponied up when the time came?

Knapp Arcade has released a new article talking about Homepin, but here is an interesting tidbit I pulled from the article.

These playfields do not use clearcoat, but rather have art sandwiched between levels. Mike claims that Haggis Pinball copied his playfield design.

Apparently Homepin uses a similar "indestructable" playfield to Haggis and, according the Mike, Damien stole the idea from him. Do I personally believe that? No. Is it possible its just a coincidence? Yes. Is it possible Mike is just full of shit? Yes.

Not quite sure what either are doing technically but neither are the first to put plastic on top of artwork… Slugfest did it and I think there was an early 80’s Bally that did it too.

#6371 3 months ago

And the quote said copied, not stole.

Words are important.

Elektra and Varkon - so, no - Mike didn't "invent" anything.

Nor did Haggis despite claiming so.

Plastic coatings were also used with the Spanish SONIC company, although not sandwiched.

Its a pretty thin line there isn't it? Knowing what we know about Mike's way of speaking and attitude, do we think he meant it as just a "matter of fact" comment? For clarity (even though I felt I made it pretty clear in my original post), I don't think it matters or is even likely true. Yes, we are all aware that other companies did this first. It never really caught on though. Now with all the complaints of thin clear, dimples, art lifting, ect its become a major selling point for at least 1 company that is offering a solution, which is Haggis.

#6376 3 months ago

It doesn't matter what 'we' think. You can only take the written word at face value, not by applying a filter of your perception of a person.

Yes I'm sure ol happy go lucky jovial Mike was just letting us in on a fun little factoid he thought we'd enjoy.

Interflip Dragon EM from 1977 had a plexi top playfield. I've played a handful of them over the years and they held up really well. The way they made them, the clear plastic is not as thick and you really, really have to look close to tell it is there at all and not just a perfect clear coat. The games play fast and smooth!

Can we get a Star Gazer? Sure would be nice if they could mix a classic Stern or three in to the mix. They are basically the same hardware as Bally.

I can’t see that particular Star Gazer selling for that. It looks nice, like really really nice, but isn’t in the perfect shape I would expect one at that price to be in. I am really curious to see the next title that Haggis does and whether it sells out in the same time frame Fathom did.

Yeah, 13.5 is a little out of control regardless of how nice it is. I thought $7K-$8K was the going rate for a fully restored SG. While I'd like to see a SG remake, I think there are some other games that might have more mass appeal.

What I appreciated with that sale is a pretty solid disclosure of everything going on, good or bad. I actually prefer incandescent bulbs, but at 13.5K, I really am expecting it to be fully kitted out in LED's, and I am not expecting any flakey bulbs at all. I would think a HEP Stargazer could fetch that kind of cash.

The popularity of a lot of the classic Sterns have really caught up to and in some cases surpassed a lot of the early 80's Bally's in my, granted, limited bubble of a world .

Edit: I've been looking at Early 80's Sterns and Bally's now for a bit and something is wonky with the Star Gazer data, the game has jumped massively in 2023 and I don't believe the listed price truly reflects the market for the game, there have been several (7) sales this year that have pushed the average price up, but it started the year at an average price of $4,200, which was a little under valued imo, but this rise to $11,500, that is wonky. Iron Maiden has gone crazy too on Pinside average pricing.

Does anyone have any idea how many they are making each month (now), or how close they are to completing the Mermaid editions?

Yes, Haggis does.

Quoted from Grantman:

About 1/day the last time I asked. Damian plans to announce the next title this summer, so I would assume Fathom would wrap up soon after.

Summer in which hemisphere?

But there’s the "extra demand" games, classic versions and celts games to make first.
Is there anyone out there not been invoiced for their games yet? If so there’s at least 5-6 months of building them to go.

#6390 3 months ago

Haven't seen an invoice, but i asked to be last.

#6391 3 months ago

That will give people a good guide if they do in fact invoice you last. Build times from full payment still seem to be in that 5-6 month timeframe.

Yeppers.

No matter how many times the question is asked or who keeps track of serial numbers and tries to extrapolate based on pinsiders who actually announce delivery.

Yet everyone says ‘just ask haggis’

Ergo… asking if anybody has info is also consistent with that attitude.

Meanwhile… some just seem to keep trying to bury questioning anything or discourage it.

can someone tell me the conclusion to this weak plunger? Barely even touches the ball. I pulled the playfield as far towards me as possible, but still no go

Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Weak auto plunge or weak when manual plunged ?

The weak manual plunge is probably because the ball sits too far forward (reason for trying to move the playfield back some). I think someone also suggested pulling the rubber tip off the plunger, put a small nut inside the rubber, then put back on. That seems like it should help alot as well..

Damian has theorized that the playfield hangers are getting stretched in shipment. You could investigate as to whether the hangers could be bent back if they are stretched. Otherwise you can use a stronger shooter rod spring. If it’s the auto launch that’s weak, you have to make sure the shooter fingers are sitting evenly and center on the ball.
