Quoted from cooked71:

Air freight is notoriously worse for handling than sea in our experience. For sea, the goods are usually loaded and unloaded from the container, that's it. For air the freight often takes numerous flights, unloaded and loaded on each one, then sits around on the tarmac - often in the rain, then f*cks around once it finally gets to the destination airport, then goes to the courier local depot and is finally delivered. Air freighted boxes are without exception damaged in some way by the time we get them.

Definitely really good if you can have full control of the container like you would do with your biz Mark. Although there's still room for dramas if you're doing LCL cargo say. I've had zero dramas though to date fortunately, even recently sending a machine out to rural NSW.

Yeh, LCL is marginally worse, but nothing compared to Air. The only "benefit" to a pinball machine sent by air, vs small boxes, is it's size/weight and its on a pallet. You cant throw a pinball machine around like air handlers do. You can however stick a forklift through it - there's just more opportunity for that to happen with air.

I haven't used air in like 15 years now, but used to get good rates via FedEx Freight. I was fortunate with all my machines that came that way, which were quite a few. Nowadays, it's just too expensive anyway, 3 x the LCL cost. My last LCL shipping of a machine from Malayasia was only a bit more than what it used to cost me for air.

Hello.
I'm looking at Marco site...they have several diff springs...which one worked for you?
Thanks.

I put a red shooter rod spring in ours and it seems good.

I played a Mermaid briefly last night (thanks surfnrg!), not enough to really get a true sense for much, but at least I got to see it in person. What I can say is it's unsurprisingly a very pretty package.

I really like the screens in the apron, much more elegant imo than putting them in the playfield. I didn't play enough to really see how useful they were during gameplay, but it was natural to watch them during the bonus countdown for instance.

#6157 74 days ago

I think I posted in the owners section instead of this one, but I got my notification that my Mermaid Edition is finally shipping! Can't wait!!

For those keeping tabs, my air freight shipping to Florida via DHL, due today was $1848 US dollars. That's with the adjustment for the sea shipping that was included. No doubt with the adjustments to the US dollar this game is costing me a little more than I expected... but I believe it will be well worth it!

Congrats! USD:AUD exchange rate has actually become more favorable to US buyers since announcement. It was about 1.3 at announcement and has been up to 1.6 - currently 1.44.

What is your order number?

I'd have to go dig up my order number but I bought right out of the announcement and bought quick. My Mermaid edition is #7.

My air freight shipping to LA and then truck'd to my front door in Colorado, was $1818 USD about a month ago. Weird in comparison but I'll take it.

Also, I've been playing my game a lot and with the exception of some minor tweaking, my game has been playing flawlessly.

But I'm not new to this hobby so I decided I wanted to put my Haggis machine to the test. So I posted an open house on the Pinside Colorado group and invited friends and strangers to come play it last Wednesday. I'll guess I had around 30-35 people here and we had non-stop, 4 player game after 4 player game on it.

Everybody loved the game and it played great until about an hour before my scheduled, last call. Suddenly the bottom 1/4 of the game went out and wouldn't restart. No lights, no flippers, no ball kick up, you get the idea.

I powered the game off, not wanting to work on it during a party and knowing I would lift the hood the following day. The next day I found the problem within 5 minutes as it was the most obvious thing to check for first. I had a blown fuse and the game is back to playing flawlessly again.

I've been buying NIB games for many years and from many different manufactures. The Haggis build quality, inside and out, is the finest I've ever seen.

#6163 73 days ago

I thought I’d have a look at how many games I had played so far. 812! I thought to myself that’s not correct. There’s no way I’ve played even half that amount. Played 2 more games and went into audits. 817. Seems the game count has a few issues.
Can someone else with a game see if their game count is putting on more than one play per game?

Heard from Haggis this morning.I had reached out to them regarding my machine. Things are moving at a slower pace than planned but still moving forward.

Really appreciate them updating me what a class act.

Don't you just love it when people piss and moan about a machine not arriving as expected, but when it does they put it straight on Pinside unopened and ask a premium price for it?More front than a department store.

First and foremost, good for Haggis and this beautiful, quality built machine. If it was garbage, the resale price would not stand IMO.

Machines are arriving in the USA and it's glorious. The fact that some sent full payment and were promised a 2 month timeline for shipping after said full payment and were at 5-6 months without a game and expressed concern... bothers you? And then, after said game arrived, which happened to be almost 2 years after they ordered the game, you are critical that they aren't keeping it and asking over what they paid when the sell it? IN THIS HOBBY?? I don't know if I'd call a 2 year wait and putting $10K out for 1/2 a year "more front than a department store".

I don't want to repeat what others have said.. but.. this is the pinball market and I think the Haggis Mermaid Fathoms are probably worth paying up for (my opinion). I saw one at Cointaker, and there was nothing that felt cheap or cost cutting about the game (unlike the new Sterns). Quite the contrary, it just oozes quality and fullness.

My friends game was just picked up, cash on the box, for $15K. For clarification, I wanted him to open it and play it.. that way I could enjoy it also, but he has a ton of family things going on and I was only trying to help. Lots have changed in his family/life and his interests seem to have gone to other hobbies in the past few years (although he still has his pinball collection and hasn't moved any games). Funny how people were jumping me about it, but that's the internet.

What makes this game worth so much. Dont get me wrong its a beautiful looking game and if you got the cash to spend god bless you. In then end isnt it just a 1980s older style game with some updated software. I am not one to call anybody out for spending what they spend for me its more curiosity.

You must be in the wrong forum. I think you meant to ask this question in the Bond60 forum.

I kid, I kid.

Basically, it's the prettiest pinball that's ever been made - with both original code and updated code (new rules, sounds, callouts, lcd video).

Here's you a video.

You've been in the hobby for 9 years, and you don't know? Especially with the price direction pinball has taken in the last 5-6 years?

41 year old Fathoms are selling in the $6,000 to $8,000 range and even more for a professionally restored one. These are Limited edition of 250 being made and you get 2 different coded games in 1.

I could go on but I think you might be yanking our chain.

I been in the hobby for 9+ years true, but also have been on a hiatus for almost 4 years. Bought a new house, had a kid and work has been busy so I kind of fell out of the loop for a while. I have only jumped back in the last month or so, my brother took my T2 home that I partially restored and finished putting it back together and it lit a fire back under me. Now I am about to start restoring my TZ, TAF, IJ and TOM that have literally been sitting folded up in the corner of my 3rd floor since the day I moved in.

I have always loved the look a Fathom, your right it is one of the prettiest looking games. I guess I am out of touch with pricing since I haven't bought a pin in about 10 years. Still have a hard time believing that TAF and TZ are over 10K and that's on the low end

Look I guess the issue I have with those that want to play the market rather than actual pinball is they should stop moaning about timeframes etc as for them the only HOBBY is to make a buck, hence the unopened box,not played advertisements.

Well, have you seen any HEP games and what they sell for? Someone just listed a BOP for $11K. The is like a high end restored 80's game, but better because you get a second game to play (If the HEP BOP had BOP 2.0, then it would be equivalent). The only way to really understand, if you ask me, is to have an absolute passion for the older titles also, so much that you want the high end restored Fathom/Centaur/Medusa.

Haggis Fathom is a super nice game and I'm guessing that only 1/2 of them are coming into the USA? So 125? Good luck getting one down the road!

I totally understand the moaning for the delays at Haggis and feel the moaning was somewhat justified back then... and I am on the side of Haggis and want them to succeed. I think you're missing the point why there was so much moaning though- Haggis stopped communicating with everyone, normal updates stopped, and things changed all of a sudden.

I think things have been smoothed over now though.

I did see that. The price is nuts 11k for a BOP, Chris does some job but I can’t see investing 10k in a restoration alone but then again I have never seen a HEP in person and I am sure if I did that would change my mind
