I have a NOS plastics set, would anyone be interested in repro plastic sets? If I could get HD scans of them and some sets made here in the UK I would be happy to before I installed them on my NOS playfield and begin my NOS rebuild this year.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested, as I am considering doing it anyway so I have a spare repro set for myself.

Retrorefurbs can do it:

I'd buy a set for sure if they were made.

#304 7 years ago

Awesome thanks for that Rondogg I didn't even think about Retro

I have pm'd Pete RetroRefurbs about some decals so I will message him about this project, depending if I can get enough people interested, be great to help out fellow GE owners.

#305 7 years ago

If people would be interested in a set of repro plastic set from Goldeneye using scans from my NOS set, either give me a thumbs or post your name here so I can keep track of numbers, I am terrible when it comes to keeping track of my pm inbox, so either a list of names or thumbs on this message that way I can keep track and thumbs or @ tags will link straight to you guys, that way I can fire you a pm to update anyone interested.

Oh, NO!!!! Shit like that happens to me all the time with several of my pins. I get things fixed and next thing you know, they are 'unfixed' and I'm back to repairing something else.
I hope you keep posting results of this pursuit. Some of us Goldeneye owners might need to reference this someday.
Good luck.

Yeah still going through everything. I ordered new sockets for the sound roms because the ones on here are chewed up on the sides for some reason. I love fixing other people's problems.

Has anybody upgraded the speakers on this game? I don't want to shell out $150 on a kit from PP or FF. How about one of the recommended external powered sub woofers? Any ideas on getting all three speakers replaced from Parts Express, maybe a crossover? Any ideas?

Sounds expensive to replace the speakers for very little return. Unless the soundfile was higher fidelity, not much is going to help. Best bang for the buck is a powered subwoofer, especially for Goldeneye.

I agree. I bought a $100 self-powered sub and it made all the difference in the world to the sound!

Thanks, i was thinking that this would be the best option but I wanted to confirm with an owner first. At least with a external powered sub you can use it in another game easily. Which powered sub did you buy?

I had a FF kit in mine (both the backbox and cab speakers). It sounded excellent.

I would definitely be interested in a set, put me on the list for sure.

Thanks for that info. Yeah, iv'e always been happy with the couple of FF kits i've bought in the past but I just don't want to put another $150 into the sound for this game. However I'm wondering if I would need to still upgrade the speakers even if I add a self powered sub to the game? It would be great to have a side by side comparison, lol.

Sony SA-W2500 Performance Line 100 Watt Amplified Subwoofer w/ 10" Mica Woofer.

I had such an astounding difference in sound when I added that sub, I can't imagine upgrading the speakers would enhance it that much. I think if you are going to buy a sub anyway, then wait until you hear it. Out of all my pins I've owned, Goldeneye and Avatar had the greatest improvement after adding subs. Fish Tales was next.

Thanks for the info. This makes me happy because I have a Fish Tales too. Looks like a powered sub is the way to go.

You can "economize" (or be 'cheap' in MY case! Ha.), and hook 2 pins up to the same sub. They will both play at the same time through the sub, if those 2 pins are being played simultaneously. If you hook up Fish Tales, you will hear the music SO much better. Takes it to a Hi-Fi sound. I love it!

I think I'm going to add two spotlights on the slings to brighten up the middle playfield. Has anybody done that?

I thought it had a bigger impact with IM but definitely helped Goldeneye.....helps every game really.

That's a good idea. I'm going to try an amber led strip on the backboard plastic. Maybe amber is the color to go with this theme.
I just finished designing score cards and a graphic to replace the middle Stern logo on the apron. I will post it for everybody to use once I test the fit.

Anyone replace the satellite magnet? It appears that there is no "+" "-" wires to worry about? Either wire can go to either end??

Mind shooting a quick pic how u wired them? Awesome idea.

#324 7 years ago

I took some movie poster parts and other bits to design some score cards and a couple new graphics to replace the Sega logo in the middle of the apron. A little photoshop and Illustrator and bam. Here they are for anybody that wants them. They are 100% in size.

Does anybody have graphic for the James bond magnet crotch burn? I need to make a sticker and it would be great if somebody already has the graphic.

For some reason, inside is making the score cards look funky. Click on the image to get a real view of them.

Yeah that is one hell of a restoration job, I have zoomed right in and wouldn't have known if you hadn't of posted the before pic, very nice work

#332 7 years ago

yeah how did you do that restore? I really just want the decal to make it easier lol

I just wired them with alligator clips to the end to GI wires under the playfield.

I'm going to scan and retouch the satellite sticker on the ramp unless somebody has already done this? I just don't see the point in paying $40 for a complete set when I only need one sticker. I'll give it a couple of days before I start. Hopefully somebody has already done this.

Also, I know somebody has already scanned the 007 crotch rot area and replaced it with a sticker. Hopefully this person will also speak up.

Hey guys, my sound board was giving me lots of problems with the game sounds, I bought all new sockets and it made it worse.

I got a brand new sound board, the same one marco sells under the goldeneye category. However, this board is vastly different in appearance. The U7 sound rom is on the lower portion of the board instead of the upper left, there is 1 sound channel missing completely and theres a lot of resistors missing on the right side.

All the plugs are the same, however when I tried it I got some wild noises, my dmd didnt even turn on during power up so I quickly just shut it off.

Anyone know if this board will work? maybe I need to adjust something? theres a bank of dip switches on it but idk what they control.

*heres the board. http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/520-5300-00

#336 7 years ago

got a new sound board for my goldeneye, so its finally all working, however for some reason I blew the playfield light fuse, and came to find out it wasnt even near correct. I am literally gonna replace every fuse, im an idiot for not checking sooner. The previous owner for this game has some track record of repairs... I know because I have seen 4 of his games and boy are they messed up.

so all I want now, is to play a fully working game, but will wait for my fuses to arrive.

Anyone wanna cough up that bond decal for the flipper area?

#337 7 years ago

Well jeez..... hope it's just a fuse..... so many times it is not .... such a fun game thou!! It's never leaving!!

Oh and ya I hope we can find the crotch rot master.... mine is bad

#338 7 years ago

yeah it really is the fuse, I realized I caused it to blow, I had the dmd open and the backbox open and when I went to shut the dmd I remember hearing it blow, I bet something shorted when I closed it, it was my fault, But still it was the wrong fuse.

I have a NOS playfields, NOS decal/sticker set and NOS plastic sets.

I'm more than happy to take scans or HD pics of playfield areas, the same with decals hd scan and make repros, I did post in this thread about getting some repro plastic sets done from my NOS set but literally 3 people got back to me.

Cool .... thanks for taking the time to do it and making plastics..... luckily my plastics are good and I have no idea how to take a picture and make it into a decal to fix the crotch rot..... I really am hoping I can pay someone a little extra to do the lag work for me and I can just buy a decal from them!!!!

I would love a HR scan of the decal set. Also a good HD picture of the bond character with the crotch rot. Thanks for offering them up. I don't have a need for plastics, my plastics are good. We'll have to call you the NOS master of Goldeneye

#342 7 years ago

My plastics are all in great shape, I really only need the bond decal for the crotch wear and thats it for my playfield, I have one small issue by the eject/ball lock target due to some asshole screwing in a screw to long and coming through the playfield. but thats just the small hole.

#343 7 years ago

Any tips how to tighten those impossibly difficult "grips" to the flipper bat posts?? Have to have an allen wrench in one hand and a lock-wrench in the other - and keep the flipper from moving???!!!............thanks.

#344 7 years ago

U can slide a toothpick under the bat on the playfield and that should prevent it from moving, and gives u the slight gap on playfield, that's what I did

#345 7 years ago
Quoted from thestreetzking:

I use a credit card with a notch cut into it - but I'm talking about the "forwards/backwards" motion of the bat while attempting to tighten the hell outta the crimp joint whatever-you-call-it to hold the shaft. Playing last night after all my shopping, the right bat suddenly pointed down to the ball trough!!! Doh - not tight enough!!!

#346 7 years ago

When I rebuilt mine, they came with the Allen bolt, but not with the nut that was on the original I had to add that in, but I'm guessing u have it since u mentioned a lock wrench

My game is about to get sold. Now it's blowing the f22 fuse. It was incorrect and blew, then I replaced with proper fuse this morning worked perfect and then when the ball drained the whole game went dark except the sound and the fuse was blown.

#347 7 years ago

@ the streetzking

That sucks - my game is playing with the new board repaired, although I haven't tested out the satellite magnet which was not working before (due to the wonky flipper).

Sorry you had so much trouble - but I can understand wanting to get rid of it in frustration! I am probably selling mine, just didn't take to the gameplay. Seems pretty much like "lock two balls" shoot satellite, repeat...................limited shots to really go for..............

#348 7 years ago

I love the game though, I got the game for a steal but put so much money into it to get it working and I feel like once something gets fixed then another problem comes out of left field.

This fuse never gave me a problem in the weeks I have had the game, why as soon as I get a new sound board and fix the sound this fuse acts up. It makes no sense to me. I have no idea how to find a short in the amount of wires inside this game.

I really am at a loss, and its depressing, id take a big loss if I sold it.

When a deal is not so much of a deal as you thought it was.

Try to get someone local to come over and help you troubleshoot............might be a good way to learn also.
