Anyone interested in picking up some new ramps for your Goldeneye?
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/looking-for-ramps-thread-buy-sell-trade/page/4#post-7417875
Show some love above and let’s get some ramps made for Goldeneye!

Yes! I've posted a couple times requesting Goldeneye ramps in this thread:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ramp-o-matic-ramp-thread

The more people to comment in these threads, the better the chance it will happen. My center ramp is cracked pretty badly, and now that Cliffy makes protectors for the ramps, a new ramp will last a lot longer!

Yeah let’s get plenty of posts in the ramp threads!

Hey all, Just a heads up I will be doing a new version to my Goldeneye pinsound mix, up to version 1.5. I have a bunch of new remastered pierce brosnan sound bites and some SFX as well.

I think it will take me another 2-3 weeks. I don't have my game right now so is there anyone willing to test? I would send you my most up to date pinsound file as a zip/attachment.

I have a pinsound kit that is next on my list of my full restore so if I can get my timing in line with yours I will happily test mate as I was looking to do a custom mix for goldeneye to get the sound up to more modern standards.

Hey y'all, something else popped up for me, here. An old issue that I thought resolved, but apparently hasn't, and I can't remember what I did to fix it in the first place!

My flippers will intermittently stop working, for little bursts. Like they lose power for a half a second, then it comes back. It started with the left flipper doing it, only a little bit...then the right was doing it too...then the last time I played, the right flipper completely lost power for a while before coming back.

I was reading the flipperwinkel page about it (https://techniek.flipperwinkel.nl/desega/index2.htm#flip0) — do these symptoms sound to y'all like what the page calls "fluttering?"

I’ve seen it on a data east. Sega’s are build a bit better. Could be related to loose or weakening fuse clips for the flippers.

Check the board in the backbox and make sure the fuses are snug in the holders

$100k USD I believe . I’d be all over this if I had the coin! The only problem is that he lives in Hawaii so I wonder how the moisture has treated the game.

Working on a game that is missing the upper ball gate. Anyone got one laying around? I could buy it new in Germany, but that would be about $55 for a ball gate

Thanks in advance!

Hello everybody! I recently bought a Goldeneye and I have been reading all the posts on this forum to learn and pick up tips and advice. Really awesome! Thanks everyone for sharing your advice. I have a couple of questions if you could help me out.

1) I read that for the speaker upgrade, some speakers on the market don't fit well on the Goldeneye cabinet. I believe it is because of the size of them. Can you point me in the right direction which I should get that could fit perfectly on my Goldeneye in your own experience or opinion? If you share a link I will truly appreciate it.

2) Do you know where I can find decals for the Goldeneye gun?

3) Which are the best MODS you recommend for Goldeneye?

4) I have been looking where I can platter my gold rails but I believe all the options shared in this forum are no longer providing that service. Do you know where I can do that job these days?

Thanks all for your time and help!

I'm thrilled to finally be part of this community!

Best regards,

Nuno

I’m working on a couple of other projects so I took a step back . Also I’m trying to figure out how I want to handle the sound effects. The call-outs are easy enough but the sound effects are quite unique. I may have said this already but you can find my current pinsound mix on their website.

1. I dont have a specific product but this post showcases that you cant use most speakers from aftermarket companies because they mount too high. Shown in pic here https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/boat-s-goldeneye-pinsound-mix#post-5714658
2.https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/820-6132-00

4. If you mean powdercoat, any local powdercoating shop will do it. Just look around.

Congrats on your game! Welcome!

Hello my friend @boat! First of all congrats for killing it with your SoundMix for Goldeneye! You don’t have any idea how eager I am to enjoy on my machine! It’s freaking amazing!

1) I heard that PinSound are developing a speaker to fit specifically Goldeneye! I hope that’s true because that would be just perfect! Finger crossed!

2) Thank you my friend! I found the rest of them on this site for anyone who are looking for the other decals: https://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-parts-by-game/goldeneye/8497/decals-for-golden-eye?c=2221

3) I knowwww!! Just hearing the N64 Goldeneye music while playing pinball it’s just perfect! I read that you are doing some changes that would enhanced the experience, is that true my friend?

4) I found the great guys of Pinball Platting for powder coat and I’m excited to see the results! For any one who is doing restoration and need some golden wireforms for their Goldeneye go check them out: https://pinballplating.com/quick-exchange-parts?category=Wireforms%20%2F%20Habitrails

5) Any other toy mods that someone wants to recommend for Goldeneye? Besides the Satellite upgrade? I’m looking for a Arecibo Observatory 3D model to wire it and installing it on the right upper corner. That would be cool!

Thanks for the welcoming my friend! Such an amazing game! Keep rocking with your sound mixing!

Magnet board did not function: 2 transistors broken, so replaced those. Got it working again a week ago. Today I was playing a bit before it goes back to its owner tomorrow and guess what....The magnets stopped working again and I truly do not know what to do...

Take the board and and run your finger across some of the smaller resistors. I had two that physically fell out. Check the other side of the board for any loose ones. I posted earlier I think , let me see if I can find it.

Edit, yea r10 and r12 wiggle them.

Also check the power input for cold solder on the other side of the board (top left), I guess bottom left too

None, just order what you need from comet. Or Titan pinball . 75 non ghost wedge and 100 non ghost bayonets , sunlight or natural light. Then maybe 25 2SMd bulbs for gi.

The difference looks like different lighting styles. Frosted bulb domes vs no domes.

FYI - I'm currently making a mod to help with speaker hum/buzz on the Sega / Stern Whitestar generation of boards. I have a Simpsons Pinball Party, and the hum was bothering me. I ended up finding this pinside discussion (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tspp-speaker-humbuzz-fixed) which describes how to make the mod and how they work. The first post on that page has a video showing the process. I have them on Simpson's and Ripley's and they help immensely. If you'd like a pair and don't have the time or tools to make them, I will ship a pair to your door for $22. If interested please direct message me as I'm not here often. Thank you

Hi everybody! I want to change my Orange DMD for a Color Dmd on my Goldeneye, but I’m having trouble to decide between LED or LCD? Do you mind share with me your opinions and thoughts about which is the better way to go for Goldeneye? Thanks

What's up...just joined the club and snagged a nice Goldeneye. I've got a few questions:

1) Do they make a board like the energi maestro that can remove the flasher clicking?

2) Can anyone point me to stand-up target splints to keep the targets from leaning? I know pinball Life and mezel mods both sell them but wanted to confirm which ones folks have successfully used

3) I am getting an error about the satellite home but it works perfectly...any ideas?

Thanks!

i have the same question i was about to post. LED or LCD .....

Quoted from ledge:

i have the same question i was about to post. LED or LCD .....

I reached out to many Pinside fellows who changed their Goldeneyes DMDS and overall they all mentioned the same approach, it's more a (and a quote) "Personal preference". LCD is a bigger screen, kind of difficult when you are trying to open the speaker panel (because it comes out a little bit from the speaker panel) but it does display really beautifully. Doesn't have the "dot" feeling, just gives you an illusion of it, which in some cases people like it better and also offers you many color options to change. The LED is the same exact size as the Orange DMD so the installation is way easier and it runs on a DOTS display, so it gives you a retro feeling more close to the original, which I personally liked more. It's brighter and I believe (in my case) more vibrant on colors. So I went for LED and to be honest so far so good and I loved it. Hope this helps, but don't take my word, if you have the opportunity to play some pinballs with both options, I believe it will be the best way to go so you can make your mind with a better judgement. Take care!

Hi my friends! I recently installed a PinSound Plus to my Goldeneye, and as soon as I turn it on I can hear the PinSound jingle and then silence, nothing comes afterwards. I downloaded Boat Mix, put in on the USB Driver that came with my PinSound purchase, plugged on the PinSound Plus board again, turned it on and the same result, nothing. So I don't know what could be wrong about it or what I'm missing. If someone could help me I would be very grateful. Thanks for your time and help everybody! Nuno

I have a problem with a Goldeneye driver board.
The board will cause reset at unpredicatble times - for example on the fourth activation of a solenoid in test mode (doesn't matter which solenoid, there is no pattern to it).
Sometimes this reset will cause (or is caused by) a MOSFET driver transistor blow, causing for example the left flipper to be stuck on (or the right flipper as well) and the transistor has to be changed.
I've tried replacing all MOSFETs with new ones from a known good sourve and replaced the 74273 chips driving them as well, but the problem persists.
The driver board behaves the same in a different machine (with different CPU, power boards etc.) so I know it's the driver board that is the issue.
Voltages measure ok, the 5V is about 5.04V which is within tolerances.

Does anyone have a clue what might be causing this?

Thanks to you and Mr_Tantrum who guided me through the usb process for the wireworm upgrade on my PinSound Plus board + how to place the folder on the usb driver was key (That was really tricky). And the great PinWoofer who spent so many emails back and forward trying to solve what could be happening even though the speakers were working, he went far and beyond sticking with me and my ignorance on the topic until we figured it out. I truly appreciate your time and help my friends..and I mean it! This is what Pinside should be about, less hating and fighting nonsense; a community helping each other and learning from each other while at the same time sharing the same passion.

LED colourdmd for me is the obvious choice for goldeneye due to the speaker opening design of goldeneye as well as the GOLDENEYE lights on the speaker panel.

However I am a fan of the LED to begin with because I do not like dots XL etc I only use the standard colour DMD dots.

Mine isn’t perfect because it had some repairs by someone in the past. Not sure why they decided to paint over the caution symbols (triangle with exclamation point inside), but you can see part of it in the upper right. “Attention” is written in the 5 different languages below the vent holes. You can just see the Italian writing at the right side on mine. If images aren’t good enough, PM your info and I can email.

Hopefully this helps with what you are looking for.

You can just see the Italian writing at the right side on mine. If images aren’t good enough, PM your info and I can email.
Hopefully this helps with what you are looking for.[quoted image][quoted image]

Awesome, thank you! Now to see if there is a screen print repro stencil/decal out there.

Quoted from Zigzagzag:

This is an odd issue, Have you tested the diodes on the driver boards? Is there any other previous hacks or work done? Are all components installed correctly? (chips the correct directions) Has the board ever worked in your possession?

Have you tried checking capacitors as well for damage or correct capacitance? In my experience with some older electronics, problems tend to occcur with certain types of capacitors since they won't last forever.
