How soon until Stern starts making you 'charge' a card to play your own home owned game?

I think one of the reasons this thread might seem overly negative is the small overall production run - there are only a few owners in here. Normally we have all the LE buyers and the Pro Premium early adopters which helps balance out the usual crap.

I don't think it's toxic, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You should buy a game you wanna buy. Don't let anyone's opinion take away your fun. My biggest problem with $tern is they became ridiculously greedy when they used to be the only company out there for a bit. Then quality went down a bit. Prices went up and I just feel like they aren't as good as they were when the sopranos was made. Now it seems like they just wanna see what they can get away with in terms of how little machine can they put out for how much money and people will still buy it. Even the cost of toppers is insane. 2k for the Mando topper because of a screen? You can buy an LCD screen and make one with Mando graphics for way cheaper. When will it end with them? I bet they will charge for code updates next.
These are the reasons I'm not a $tern fan. They just rub you the wrong way. They did make games I like. The Bond premium looks great. The Godzilla is awesome. Rush is nice. I own 2 Spooky games amd they are an awesome company. They let customers decide how many CE's will be made. They get full assets to licensed games, free toppers. On top of that nothing on the CE game will ever be sold separately for the other two models of the game. Further more unlike $tern Spooky doesn't remove mechs or ramps from lower tier models. Gameplay is all the same on all tiers. Just cosmetics are different.

Finally...a voice of reason...think I'll join on straight pour...the tie that binds sanity in here!!

I was picking up dinner for the family and they had a bottle of this years birthday bourbon. So I had some while I waited. Need to figure out what’s next here at home.

What you guys need to know - it’s not even about this game.

Long term pinballers are upset and disappointed with the way the hobby is going.

It used to be companies made games at a reasonable price - if you wanted one, you could buy one. Metallica LE was like $2000 more than the pro.

Now - pinballers are being treated as cash cows with more and more releases just being blatant rip offs. $500 for a $50 (at most) box of Rush crap? $13,000 for a Bond LE which has very little more in it than the $7000 Pro. $2000 for the Mando topper when a few years ago the awesome BKSOR topper was $495.

Yeah - shit has gone up. But not that much.

People are being fleeced.

And by buying one of these items, you’re just saying it’s OK. Keep doing it. I’m cool with it. The next toppers will be $3000. Then $4000.

That’s why people are upset.

This thread, like all real forums is neither negative nor toxic. It’s full of good comments, helping us to see past the FOMO smoke and mirrors to the real lack of Bond assets in a game claiming all 26 films are being represented here. Sure they are, with $10 poster art from every film and all 6 JB characters placed on the backbox and PF. That’s it! It’s like Elwin explained, a game solely designed for short ball times, point tallying, all the while “fighting ball gravity”.

No modern game story telling immersive movie clips, just a good looking and hopefully playing layout that could have been themed anything with a spinning hat. That’s the only thing on the PF that makes it Bond or at least a one off villain sidekick character Oddjob. What’s toxic and negative is the sucker punch thrown by Stern at all of us gullible enough to be fleeced by them for $20k big ones. Thanks to this thread, I’ve snapped out of the typical Stern FOMO trance and enjoying it all from the sidelines. Thanks guys for a very positive thread that makes a great deal of sense!

I just pulled out my LWJP and looked at it in depth. 2 spinners, 2 ramps, drop target, 2 orbits, 1 mini orbit, 2 playfield magnets and a snagger magnet toy, 11 stand up targets, 3 pops, a subway, a scoop with interactive toy, DMD and video mode. Released today it should be $32,000. But no, only $3500.

It shoots great. Granted, the code and sound sucks ass, but c'mon. It has value for the price point. This is why so many of us can't fathom the price point of the 60th Bond.

No, it's not great. It's a major disappointment. They had a license to use all 25 James Bond movies and gave it to their top pinball designer to make a super premium game. What did we get? The features of a super premium game just are not there and the value is definitely not there. They have also been less than upfront about what assets are actually in the game. There is no actual gameplay video (even from CES) but people are supposed to buy it just because it's limited to 500 units.

There are a bunch of people here that said they could buy it for $20k but won't because it's not worth it. I would probably pay $15k and so I'm actually kind of relieved that the game does NOT look amazing or else I would feel bad that I'm not getting one. I don't feel bad that I'm not getting this game. I do feel sad that a unique opportunity for them to do something amazing with this license was wasted.

Games were made to be sold in mass, they were made to be everywhere. Now they are catering to the whales who have ton of money and go nuts for FOMO. Constantly pushing higher priced LIMITED products is not good for an industry, it's just trying to take advantage of people. It doesn't help if they are turning people away, well you can't buy this cause it's a premium product and hard to get. I mean the original ideas of having different tiers sounds good on paper but then when people have a hard time even getting the machines they want, it really stings. And then to just make machines only the few elite can buy, that hurts even more.

Of course people are going to be mad

There is nothing on the flyer or in the Elwin interview about music, audio or video clips in the 60th game. Compare that to the Pro/Pre/LE flyers that say "Film footage and iconic music from the films that built the 007 legend."
You *think* the game will have audio/music out the ass but there is no evidence for this.

Yes, who knows?! Flyer says "learn assignments." You don't know what you are going to get because there is no actual gameplay video.
