Not having had any system 80 or any Gottlieb’s for that matter this is all new to me. I picked up a Jacks to Open nonworking in really nice shape otherwise. Owner was a non pinball person and had it since 90’s. He didn’t know how to get inside lol! After cleaning connectors and replacing power supply, it boots up fine. Here’s the issues:

1. Won’t coin up. Tried adding credits, checked connector, coin mech switches are good and slam switch is closed. Believing it may be MPU issues as it did have a non-original battery which was loooing funky so I pulled it. It’s still off. Not sure if that matters. Note there’s a lifted trace that was like that with battery connected on the + side.

2. Bottom two displays are working but none of the top segments of either are working. Seems really odd even in test unless that’s normal? Really odd to have both like that and all of them that way. Are they supposed to be working or where should I be looking if not?

I’m planning to go with a new CPU board as this one looks a bit ugly. Anything else I should be doing? The lower cabinet power supply has the spade style ground connectors. One was broken so I replaced that one.

If I hold in the game over solenoid, I can get flippers and pop bumpers working. In test the drop targets work along with the knocker. All fuses were replaced with new ones but nothing was blown.

Ordered the cap; thanks! I did bypass and try with and without the reset board and no change but good call.

Regarding repinning, it looks like most places are out right now.

Will keep digging in. I ended up ordering RD board as that’s all that I found in stock.

It’s up and running with the new mpu. Played a couple quick games. I have to find out why the lower displays are displaying garbage despite cleaning connections again. Odd that they both are doing it. And neither slings work. Everything else working great.

Will have the old MPU and power supply for sale.

I'm not against repinning them all but haven't had the time to see what and how much I need to order. Alot of vendors seem to be out.

Yeah another friend mentioned that too but I'm not keeping this game so didn't want to wait. I'm already getting annoyed it's in my garage taking up space! That Pascal board seems to be really nice. I'm still thinking I may have some parts to check on the driver board too...
