Recently I purchased a 77 Jacks Open. I’m working through some operational issues and have a question about the targets. Do they get brittle with age and how often should they be replaced? I have broken two in the last week. The machine isn’t on high tap and the flippers don’t seem abnormally strong. Any ideas?

Quoted from CactusJack:

And make sure to always eject the ball into the shooter lane before lifting the playfield. Games like JO, King Pin and Jack in the box are notorious for snapping targets when the ball drops out of the outhole while flipping the playfield up.

Yes that’s how I broke the first one.

I broke another one tonight. The game has normal flipper coils and isn’t on high tap. I think the targets are brittle from age.
