Picked up this Gottlieb Jack’s open project, hadn’t ran in a few years. Cleaned and adjusted score reels. On start up I get no playfield lights or power to it. All fuses were checked relay coils tested. The Hold relay is not locking on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Quoted from Xenon75:

So are you saying the game will start and reset or it doesn't start the reset sequence?

It starts the reset sequence reset score reels targets, both S&H relays activate but the hold relay doesn’t Lock on.

Yes, Ball does not launch.

Quoted from paulace:

The part of this snippet in red is the circuit that should lock the Hold Relay (R) on. Check those switches and see if any of them are open....clean the contacts, adjust the gaps if necessary, check the soldered tabs on the back of the switches.
[quoted image]
There's a switch on the R relay that provides power to most of the rest of the playfield (near I 10 on the schematic) - if that switch isn't staying closed because your R relay isn't holding on, you won't have power to most things on the pf.

Yes if I hold the R relay on it will start the game. So I need to find the switch that holds the R relay.
Sorry I struggle with schematics.

Quoted from hjh632:

Try gapping/cleaning the YEL-BLK, SL-GR switch on the R RELAY.
Make sure that when you manually close the relay that the switch blades touch and slightly push each other.

Checked regapped and cleaned switches on the R relay also checked the coil. If I hold the relay it will eject the ball and energize the playfield.

Check those other 2 switches - H and Lightbox Anti-Cheat Sw.
If you don't find anything, have you used a jumper wire before?</

I really appreciate the advice I have cleaned and adjusted the switches on H and R relays checked and adjusted the light box Anti-cheat switch. Still no R relay hold.
I do have jumpers and have used them.

I checked and adjusted switches on H and R relays also again checked and cleaned and adjusted the light box anti cheat switch. And yes I do have jumpers and have used them.

Quoted from paulace:

Photos of the switches don't tell me much - just because switches look like they're closed, doesn't mean they're electrically conducting. So we're gonna use jumpers. There are lots of ways to do this, but let's start by hooking the jumpers between the 2 red X's on this schematic.
[quoted image]
If the 15A fuse, Bounce Switch and n/c Anti-Cheat Switch are all good, the R relay should turn on and stay on once you've jumped between the red X's. I'm assuming those 3 components are working since the R relay turns on briefly at first.
So does the R relay turn on when you jumper?

I jumpered from the anti-cheat to R relay and it holds the R-relay and when I activate the trough switch the score motor starts up and runs.

Is this the anti cheat switch under the score motor

The slam switch on the coin door has silver and red yellow wires. I tested the switch and it is working. Jumping to the R relay it locks on. I was originally jumped to the bounce switch with red white and red yellow wires.
Would this tell me that a switch on the S relay isn’t closing?

If I close the yellow black and silver switch on the S relay it will lock the R relay and power the playfield. The S relay is pulsing but not locking on.

So the switch on the S relay that activates the R relay does send a pulse but does not lock the relay on. What locks the R relay?
I am trying to follow the schematic.

Silver Green switch on the R relay?

Paulace and Howard big thanks for walking me through this. It came down to the H switch before the light box switch. It was making contact but had some white corrosion that I needed to take the relay apart and clean the switches with a Dremel to have continuity. So thanks again the R relay now locks its self in and working properly.
