So I recently landed one of my grails, Jack*Bot. Got the game home a did a full run though. For the first day, the game played great. No issues. The next day I fired it up, only to hear a nasty cracking/distorted sound throughout the gameplay. Lifting the PF, I found one of the two subwoofer connectors came loose... No problem, reconnected it. When plugged back in and turned on, the lower audio power amp on the sound board popped and started to smoke.... A Really bad Metallic burn smell!! Don’t know if it was the resistor, capacitor, or power amp, but I shut the game off and pulled the fuses. With the fuses removed, the sound board doesn’t heat up and the game plays with no sound.... but as soon as I plug the audio fuses back in, the sound works, but the power amp\fuses gets VERY hot and starts to burn and smell really bad! But as it stands right now, I can’t play the game in fear of frying something out more serious. I believe it all comes back to that small board / coil / transformer next to the sub woofer. What is this and what purpose does it serve? Checking other Jack*Bots, I don’t see this on anyone else’s games?..
Can I simply remove and bypass this? Just connect the input wires right to the sub? My fear is that I’ll fry out something else if I remove It (or leave It in)
Any insight or guidance is greatly appreciated.... Thanks!!
