Guys, I think I *may* have discovered something unique to my 'bot...at least I'm hoping this is the case. I am tearing it down right now, I found something odd.
The mode start hole plastic saucer is mounted flush to the wood, so is the switch stack.
They EYE HOLE saucers are *not*. They have black spacers under them, and so do the switch stacks, to put them in an appropriate position to register correctly. I do not believe this is normal mounting for these parts, but it's either a factory improvement or aftermarket. The lower position of the saucer cups gives the ball more leeway to fall into the eye locks, just as the later design using the vertical upkicker would. I have noticed on my game that eye shots do not get rejected nearly as much as people complain about other sample JB's. The mode start hole, which is mounted flush to the wood DOES bounce out a lot more on my game. I need someone else with a sample JB to go look at these plastic saucers, the switch brackets, and see if there's little 2 or 3mm spacers between them and the playfield wood.
If this is unique to my game, I believe this could make people's lives with these machines MUCH more tolerable. I have an idea of a solution, but I need verification from someone with another early production Jackbot to verify if mine is 'normal' or if what I have is unique to my game, I.E. someone added it later.
