Quoted from Grandnational007:

hmmm, I wonder if this is why mine has been acting up recently...
Every so often, from a full plunge, which I rarely even do at this point, the ball will ricochet off something and go right into the pops instead of climbing the spiral.
I suppose I may have to tear mine down this weekend and take a peak. I need to replace a bumper skirt in there as well (similarly to yours). Fun times ahead.

That could be from a worn plunger plastic bushing not hitting the ball dead center. See how much the metal shaft wiggles side to side. That wire should have been a lot beefier if you ask me, it takes a hell of a beating.

Hey Guys, I am thinking about joining the club. There is an Jackbot nearby. But it is running on 95 platform. Anything specific to look for?

Looking for a post 02-4195, for the Pinbot/Jackbot mini-playfield, anyone have one they could spare? Looks like Marco is sold out.

Did you get it?

Is there any specific issues to look for when buying a jackbot?

I would look at the standard wpc "stuff" (connectors being crispy, raised inserts, etc.)

Make sure the ramp flap works, that the visor goes up and down smoothly, that the pops aren't hammered...it's a pretty basic playfield, really.

The cabinets are notorious for fade, if that's a big deal to you. Replacement plastics, the mini playfield, and decals are all currently available to freshen everything up. I've been debating with myself to grab spare for a while now while they are around.

Mine has been basically flawless since I've had it, the only issue being a flipper opto-interuptor being "out of sync" with the other (the plastic spring "lost" its memory, and there was an ever so slight delay between releasing a flipper button and the flipper dropping). I'd hardly count that as a game specific flaw, though.

All in all, it's one of my favorite games; a real, perennial, challenge, that never seems to get old.

Also Pinsider beatmaster is making a new ramp for it, it's half transparent blue and red. I'm getting one.

Of course, only one place has it, in Europe. Figured I'd ask around here first.

I see, how much did they want for it.

Make sure you buy LOTS of them, they split just by looking at them.

So... we have had nothing but problems since purchasing our Jackbot.
Just recently had the MPC board and MPC security board replaced after the DISPLAY (that shows graphics, scores) would fade out after 10 seconds and the female voice stopped working. That seemed to fix it until we turned the machine on the next day and the display would not come on, but the voices seemed to work.
We have checked all fuses, all internal LED (red lights) are on, check connectors, wiggled wires and still cannot get the display to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have owned this machine for less than a year and it just seems like problem after problem is occurring.
Please help. Thank you

Spent the last few days flattening and gluing the 2-2-A-A-A and all the arrow inserts in my playfield. First time flattening inserts so I was a little apprehensive about how they might turn out, but they're just about perfect. Made my own clamping blocks from Home Depot hardwood flooring samples, a different size and shape for each type of insert. I think I'm going to lay some removable mylar over the cards and grid area to prevent any possible insert chipping in the future, then the repopulating can begin.

Old vs. new parts for the pop bumpers, how did they function with such broken skirts? This isn't even the worst one.

Excellent job . Jackbot is absolutely a keeper and when you master the game is such a great satisfaction. Great pin, and my personal greetings for joining the Club!

I just noticed my skirts starting to chip last week while cleaning & waxing playfield. Although they don't look as bad as the right pop bumper, in your picture. But can look as good as the left one with some work. I have everything to replace them just need to find the time. Jack Bot was my 3rd game that I purchased. That was 6 years ago.

Super job on those inserts and pops. I did all my pops too but mine were no where near as bad as yours.

Snuck it in the breakroom at work untill i finish a few things in my basement. Will look great after a quick cleaning. Only issue I see is my lift ramp seems to be binding. It fires repeatedly and stays up.

Removed the purple wire from the larger coil that lifts the ramp and the ramp dropped. Must need a new q66

From the picture it looks pretty nice.

Does this version not have the super jackbot award?

According to IPDB, 0.4A is the sample/prototype. But there are also no other roms listed, so not sure what's up with that.

It just needs a little wd-40, or some other type of lubricant on the mechanism I had the same exact thing happen to mine, I used wd-40 and its been running flawlessly for last 3 years

You realize WD 40 is flammable right? There are other options for lubricant in that situation where some is needed.

#441 5 years ago

Just did a pop bumpers overhaul on Jack*Bot. Thinking about listing her for sale soon. It's been in my collection for 6 years. Just want to fix one issue with flashers not working. The face of Jack*Bot on playfield and flasher on backwall at start of multiball don't work. It's freezing outside today so I'll get manual out and find out what's needed and get the light show working again.

OMG. Never use WD40 in a game.

Machine oil should do. But first, take it apart and clean the pieces.

Quoted from Gnatty:

Yes I realize, I only dabbed a small amount with a q-tip, then rubbed with clean q-tip. Like I said it has been operating flawlessly for the last 3 years, and it gets played daily. I also didn’t have to take it apart to fix. End of the day up to you I guess.

New pop bumper bodies and skirts installed tonight, new caps and 555 bulb holders to follow. Figured as long as these would be on the machine for life, I might as well make everything perfect, so I rubbed out the bodies with plastic polish and smoothed the sort-of-rough edges of the new skirts with sandpaper and polish. I ran into issues when test fitting the bulb holders, no matter what body I used (I tried three - the original and two different company's new ones) and what type of bulb I used (the shortest of any LED or incandescent 555's), the cap would "bottom out" against the top of the bulb and I'd have to move the bulb off to the side to screw the cap down. That must be why every Sys11 or WPC machine I see has little divots melted into the underside of the caps.

There are two little plastic posts/cylinders at the bottom of the inside of the body that the 555 bulb holder terminals feed into, so I wound up grinding these down with a dremel tool until they were flush with the rest of the bottom. Now when I feed in the bulb holder and screw the cap on, there's about 1/16" - 3/32" clearance between the top of the bulb and the cap, if I use the shortest incandescents in my box. The taller ones and taller LED's still hit the cap, and while I'd prefer the LED's lower temp, I like the incandescent glow and hopefully as long as the shorter one isn't hitting the cap, it won't melt a divot into it.

So much better than this filthy, gray. broken mess.

That's a big improvement they sure needed replacing. I just replaced my pop bumpers too. After looking at yours mine still had some life in them. Lol. I had no problem with bulbs touching caps. Very Strange.

Looks like you're using some SMD bulbs that don't have a dome? No height problems with those.

My bulbs touch caps as well, and they are original pop bumpers and caps, change the bulbs to led and you wont have to worry about caps burning.

Well I was hoping my no flashers issue was br4 so I threw one on an order I was already making. Upon further inspection I have a little more work to do.

At the start of multiball or anytime my flashers don't work. Sounds like I have the same issue. Please keep me posted. Thanks
