Welcome to the club. If you need new plastics and mini pf they are available. If you led it you'll want both OCD boards, it'll look great then.

OCD Boards??

#304 6 years ago

He’s talking about the LED-OCD and GI-OCD boards that can be purchased to make your LED bulbs behave more like incandescent bulbs... the GI board completely eliminated flicker one games that feature GI dimming. And the LED boards help to Re-introduce that slower blink that incandescent insert bulbs exhibit.

They’re a nice add on... more important on some games as opposed to others (I’ve had a lot of success with the GI boards on Addams Family, Johnny, and White Water)... all of those games have moments of GI dimming that doesn’t play as well with LED bulbs.

Quoted from 27dnast:

I had bad flickering of the GI until I put the GI OCD board in, they are perfect now same with the inserts until I put the LED OCD board in.

The art package on this game is awesome... I don't have a copy of the game yet, but I was lucky enough to purchase the original backglass illustration recently. Such a great backglass painting IMHO

WOW!!! Now that's cool. Congrats. I hope you can find a nice example. Watch out for faded cab and bb art, you can't get them anymore.

No

Get your enhanced 5 drop target base and 5 drop target back here:

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/chaskett

Base (resized).pngBase (resized).png
Pinbot/Jackbot Enhanced 5 Drop Target Base
This is an enhanced underplayfield drop target base for the 1986 Williams Pin*Bot and 1990 Williams Jack*Bot pinball machines. This piece is often found broken or glued together on the pinball machine. Having a new base is ideal to keep the moving target rigid and free from wiggling in the up or down position. I have enhanced the slim piece that attches to the under side of the playfield by thickening the material and adding a diagonal cant to make the piece able to take more abuse.

Back (resized).pngBack (resized).png
Pinbot/Jackbot 5 Drop Target Back
This is a replacement drop target back for the 1986 Williams Pin*Bot and 1990 Williams Jack*Bot pinball machines. This piece is often found broken as it is constantly getting hammered by the silver ball. Having a new back is ideal to keep the moving target rigid and free from wiggling in the up or down position.

I see you got a LCD, so did I. Got it in the mail yesterday but don't know when I'll have time to install it, Leg Light orders are keeping me REAL busy. Now you need the light up speaker panel, that's next for me.

Nope, I have LED. I like the dot look on the DMDs. So does the wife.

Holy Crap! I didn’t realize they released JB on CDMD!

This is my grail CDMD! So psyched!!!

#321 5 years ago

Well I installed mine and I got the dreaded optos in ball trough not working check connection etc. Went to their web site and looked under trouble shooting and they had a listing for that. All connections are good so I may have not enough 12v power. Anyone know which of the 3 power wires is the + and -? I have a 12v wall wart I can splice into to power it. I just reseated the connectors and now the game will start but no balls will kick out.

Wow. They really knocked it out of the park with this title!

I'm on the hunt for the three-bank drop target decals.

Anyone know where they're sold? I can't seem to find them...

I bought my Jack*Bot a couple of months ago. It has no black edging, white arrows, it is totally LED (color correct) and is in near mint shape. The cabinet is faded but all else is a 9.5. I LOVE this game. The only issue I am having is my helmet will come about 1" from totally closing. It doesn't effect play at all, the targets go 100% up and down, but if anyone knows a fix, please share. I have looked at it very thoroughly (without taking it totally apart) and I can't seem to see any issues. Thanks!

I was one of the lucky ones to help test the colordmd roms for Jackbot before its release, been holding this in for about 3 months. Man it looks good. Nice work Colordmd

Thanks for testing it. I downloaded the file but how do I get it on to a memory stick and get it in the dmd? I've never done it before.

Empty flash drive.
Download and copy "chroma.rom" file onto empty drive
insert drive into usb slot of Cdmd
hold down the USB button on the back of the Cdmd for 5 secs or until the LED starts blinking
release USB button when light is blinking
when light stops blinking remove USB drive
you are done - may require a reboot.

#331 5 years ago

When I flashed my colordmd it took 3 different usb sticks before it actually worked, just a heads up.

OK inserted drive, held down USB button till it started to flash then it went out and the PROG started to flash and INIT was on constant, DONE was off, STATUS was off and dmd was blank. After 10 minutes none of those lights changed. Now what?

Reset dmd, unplug the dmd power source to reset, your going to need a different usb drive, the one you have is not compatible with the dmd, I had the same problem, luckily I had 3 already, worked on the 3rd one I tried.

This drive worked for Met and T3 though, I wonder why not for JB? The file is only like 2.5 meg so how long should that take to download into the dmd board?

#335 5 years ago

It also depends on if you got the newer model of the colorDMD. The new model uses "chroma.rom" while the old version of the ColorDMD uses the "colordmd.rom". The .rom file will not work with the wrong version of colorDMD.

Got it, had to reformat the card. Thanks for the help guys. Now I just have to rewire the power connector for a 12v wall wart power supply because the trough optos still won't work with the dmd on the same power circuit.

Have had my Jackbot for 10+ years and play it all the time, always draws me back just like my Fast Draw. I put the JB up for sale about 7 yrs ago but fortunately no takers at the time. Selling it was one of THE dumbest things I *almost* did and now I honestly cannot fathom what I was thinking. Sometimes you need to have a game a looong time to totally appreciate that it has never been and never will become tiresome to you. You step up to it and you WANT to play it no matter how long you've had it. To me that is the definition of a 'keeper'.

I am nearing the completion of new ramps for Pinbot. MustangPaul thought I should post here as well. I have modified the Pinbot design very slightly so that it can make the Jackbot ramp perfectly as well. In another thread (Freeplay40 Ramps) I posted photos of one of the new main ramps that is dyed blue on the left and red on the right to mimic the blue red theme of these games. I'm also making the visor and the complete lift ramp for Pinbot. I believe they are the same in both Pinbot and Jackbot, but would appreciate if anyone knows for sure.

There is slight differences yes. If you would like, I can take a few pictures here eventually. It might be something as simple as just the screw holes had a bit more support/plastic tab around them

Thanks....I already have a nice photo of an NOS Jackbot main ramp. I might just need a couple measurements for the positions and spread of the overhead wireform brackets.

#343 5 years ago

That blue/red ramp is freakin sick.

#344 5 years ago

Wow. I definitively consider me IN if them will be done and fit Jackbot,
seems it is JB reinassance, new plastics... new ramps.... gorgeous!

I'm debating grabbing a set of plastics for mine, even though I only need one sling and one ball guide plastic because they have a crack...guess it can't hurt to have backups

Just be aware that at least one of the plastics has the wrong holes drilled in it. I contacted Planetary after receiving mine and every set they have has the error. Their only solution is refund.

I haven’t looked too closely at other plastics in the set, so there could be more. Not sure

which plastic? Don't tell me a lane guide or slingshot?!?

#348 5 years ago

It was the awards plastic that has 4 lights on it (below the mini playfield). A couple of other buyers confirmed they had the same issue. It appears that planetary ran the whole set that way

#349 5 years ago

I could live with that, considering the one in there now is perfect, and I cant ever really imagine that plastic getting wrecked by a ball strike...

Thank you.

Hi all!! New to this club! Just purchased our first Pinball machine - Jackbot. Hoping someone might have some ideas how to fix the Double or Nothing problem we have. The flippers work for hitting the ball. When Double or Nothing activates, the left flipper option to collect works, but the right flipper will not activate Double or Nothing or Casino Run. Fuses checked, connection checked and the button connector checked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
