Thanks. I will start checking for pinched wires or connectors where I attached allogators clip and try to follow cables and check them to the board.I’m Newbie on shorts, I think these are the first steps?
Cheers
Quoted from jibmums:Something definitely off on mine too. At lower bonuses like 20k-30k x multiplier, the bonus is right on, but later in the game with bigger bonuses and I've seen discrepancies of 20%-30%, possibly more. Jackbot can't count.
It is a casino, after all. Probably programmed to rip the player off!
I just scored the "dirty pool" and between the euphoria and the light show I just kept pounding the chest forgetting that I need to hit the ramp to collect Mega Visor™. By the time I remembered the timer had expired followed by a quick drain. Oh well, I'll finally get a mega visor one of these days...

What's the "dirty pool"? Is that the same as getting 15 jackbots and then lighting all the chest squares?

Sneaking a ball into the visor as it is closing (Obviously, only during multiball, as that is the only time you can score "Jackbot!(s)" (come to think of it, I've never tested with a plunged jackbot or a jackbot scored during casino run with one jackbot left to start Mega Visor to see if the game will immediately go into Mega Visor in single ball play, or if it will eject another ball into the shooter lane, hmmm...)) at the start of Mega Visor. The visor will act as a "newton ball", and if you hit the visor with the snuck ball behind it into an eye socket, it scores all of your chest hits in one shot!
So essentially, yes, haha.
God I love this game!
That's pretty cool, I never would have even considered trying that. But then, I've only scored the 15 jackbots once, and drained before completing the grid. Does anything unique flash on the dmd for "dirty pool", or does the game not recognize the sneaky maneuver?

The robot babe says "dirty pool, old man" and you get the 1.5B. I'm not sure if there is anything unique on the DMD, but you get a wild lightshow.
Okay, I think I've got it (I'm a little obtuse today): so you complete the 15 jackbots and then when the visor closes so you can use the visor targets to fill in the grid, that's when you have to trap a ball behind there, before it's closed all the way. Do I have that correct? What happens if you manage to get a ball into one of the eye sockets while the visor is closing? Same "dirty pool", or is using the visor targets as a "newton ball" (had to look that up) a necessary part of it?
I loves Williams' "hidden" light shows. Only other one I know of is on Sorcerer when you drain your last ball with "demon" lit, and the lights and sounds go nuts at the end of your bonus countdown.

As the visor is closing after Jackbot 15 you have to get one of the balls loose behind the visor but not locked in an eye. If you lock it in an eye the game will know and the visor will open back up to kick the ball out and you have to start over with the chest hits. The game doesn't know the ball is back there until the "newton ball" event knocks it into an eye lock.

And someone at Williams actually thought up that rule. Genius!
Quoted from HowardHurtz:Are you guys able to backhand the cashier from a cradle?
Yes, if you give the ball a slight roll first by tapping the flipper button just a hair, you can hit the cashier target.
Quoted from jibmums:Yes, if you give the ball a slight roll first by tapping the flipper button just a hair, you can hit the cashier target.
There was one I used to play on location that I could backhand the shot with decent success, but I just can't seem to make the shot from a cradle on mine. I'm wondering if it's a setup issue, but more likely just a lapse in skill. I can pass to the right and make the shot consistently, but I wish I had the ability to attempt a backhand when that counter is down to the last second!
Cashier is definitely "backhandable", but not a traditional backhand from a cradle. As jibmums stated, you need to do a "rolling flick" so that the ball is either rolling up or down (but in full contact) with an actuated (flipper in the "up" position) left flipper, and then quickly let off and hit the flipper again when the ball is close to the end of the flipper. Hard to explain, but easier to execute than it sounds.
The real question, is can you backhand the casino scoop? I can about once in a 100 shots. And for perspective, I can backhand the band member shot on GNR 100%, the DocOcc shot on Spiderman 100%, etc...
Quoted from HowardHurtz:Are you guys able to backhand the cashier from a cradle?
Consistently yes. The game saucer is almost impossible from a cradle but can be hit from a normal backhand 1/10 tries.

Well ya see it's like this..... I'm looking at a new motor for the Mustang a Ford R302, lists new for 2k and my buddy has a used one for $400. It's being Magnafluxed for cracks now and if it checks out I'll buy it. BUT it's just a bare block so I will need EVERYTHING. It will be stroked to 363cid and will have EFI and should push 500hp and still run on pump premium. I'll need to sell a couple more games to pay for it though like my Refinery Met Pro and maybe NASCAR. It's gonna be an endless money pit just like pins. LOL

Somebody got a nice clean example!
Quoted from HowardHurtz:Somebody got a nice clean example!
Yes he did and it had MANY one of a kind mods on it. I put a lot of BS&B into it. This is what I did with the pf when I sanded the cabinet sides to put the mirror blades in. It hung like that for a couple weeks like that while it was still attached to the game. LOL
IMGA0347 (resized).JPGYou are in multiball with a ball trapped on each flip and an eye lit... Do you shoot right-right, left-left, or cross field? Bowen goes cross field on the PAPA vid, but I seem to have much better luck with the 'backhand' shot.

Me too backhand, as I miss much more when I try cross field shots. The more I play this game and the more I love it. Did hit very good scores only after a looooooooooong time spent playing it. Rules are so deep, a pure pinball happiness. Definitively a keeper.

I find crossfield SO much easier. Drop the flipper and as soon as the ball hits the halfway point on it from a cradle, flip and right into the eye it goes. Then the other one.
Anyone have a way to stop the ball from getting stuck behind the visor? Had a gathering last night and a lot of newbies ( sons robotics team 16yrs olds) playing pin for the 1st time. I think the kids just launched the ball as hard as possible? I never saw how they did it but it happened 3 times! I tried to explain the skill shot etc... Anyone have this happen and if so any trick/ mod ideas to prevent?

It is getting stuck in the visor when launching it from the plunge? I wonder if you are missing a plastic or if the vortex is damaged. Where in the visor is it getting stuck? Maybe try one of the weaker color coded springs or a white plunger tip.
I didn’t see it happen but it is behind the right eye Curved metal. I have to lift the playfield let the ball roll back then use a magnet tool to pluck it out. My vortex is a bit cracked but not enough to loose a ball. I will post a picture of the area
I had kids too at home plunging really hard (did not have any problems..) and I just did cut a little bit the plunger spring, so now even if they pull hard the ball does not enter the vortex like a bullet.
Good question. I may have forgot to put it on after the tear down deep clean! I need to go down and look
I just installed my first color LED display (ColorDMD) into my beloved Jackbot and wow, it is totally worth it. The colors on the face when you lock a ball, Casino Run sequence, the red flames shooting out of the space shuttle engines, the red and black card suits, beautiful. Besides looking great the color makes the objects in the relatively low-rez graphics more instantly clear and recognizable. I went with LED because to me has the exact same 'look' as the factory dmd except it's in color. My pics do not really show the brilliance of the colors, I love it.

I really want to get the colour DMD for Jackbot, but I know if I do I'll be forced to do the rest of my games as well. At $500 a pop I'll spend as much as a nice used pin

I was with you for the longest time but finally bit the bullet. The Jackbot color is outstanding.
Regarding the ball flying off the spiral ramp, how about purposely giving it some really hard shots (use other thumb as a 'spring') and video it in slo-mo mode so you can perhaps see where it is flying off? Like if it's hopping the last hole (where it's become cracked) or flying out as it comes from under the shield. Mine has the original spring, has never come off that ramp and I do full plunges sometimes if my game is going lousy.
Just finished up a good game, first time I had a lane lit for "extra ball" from the full house....and a second lit for "extra ball" from the slot machine....and a third lit for "extra ball" from exiting the mini-playfield at the right time....all at the same time. Now I'm going to make it my mission to get all four lanes lit and take a photo of it. I'll need either another mini-playfield exit, or a lucky Casino Run, and no ball running over a lit lane 'til all four are lit. Anyone here ever done this?

Yes but after a looooooooong time playing this marvellous beast. I got really high scores one year after purchasing it, when I studied very well the rules, jackbot is no pin for the casual gamer I think, and I earned really huge points insisting with casino run again and again. Extra balls did help for sure when I did set my personal records and in Jackbot you can obtain at least three of them without too much effort and with some skills.
My problem is I get high scores only if a friend of mine comes to me so we can make small tournaments, when I'm alone I feel it more difficult to try alone.

Enjoy the lucrative Casino Runs while you can. Once you get better and run up the replay score the game gets stingy.
Early on I would regularly receive "extra ball" or "add 10 cards" from the slot machine and score two (sometimes even three) extra balls from casino run. Now that my score history is much higher I mostly get "Hurry Up" and "Big Points" from the slot. Casino runs are generally stingy and the bombs more frequent.
Early on I found Casino Run to be a better scoring strategy. Now, I generally do better focusing on the visor (Keno Awards and multiball) and ramp shots.

Yeah, I'm starting to feel the stinginess. Replay score went from 5 billion all last year to 6.6 billion this week. Getting lots of Hurry-Up's now, and more bombs. Still have goals to shoot for, the above-mentioned 4-lane extra balls, Dirty Pool, and of course Mega-Visor which I've only enabled once but never scored.

Huh, and I thought I was the only one, haha.
This game aliases up like crazy, and never goes down...
Any issues with the ramp flipping down after the cashier closes? Mine was sicking up a while back... The magnet was still actuating, so I just cleaned the bracket and was trouble free for a while. But, now it has stuck in the up position a couple of times over several dozen games.
Should I lube the bracket under the playfield or leave it dry?
Quoted from Pbgixxer:Pretty excited . Jackbot joined my collection . Plays very fast and in amazing shape .

Great looking JB. It's just begging for the blue inlane guide on the left.
