Another rubber-related question, what size are you guys using for this long one next to the lift ramp? The manual calls for a 3" but that's so tight that it's pulling on both end posts so hard that they're angling over slightly, and then I can't fit the plastic over the threads without bowing it down. A 4" rubber is on the looser side but then no problems with the posts or plastic, and it's not like this is a high-bouncey area. The last thing I want to do is break the NOS plastic I just bought, so to be on the safe side I think the 4" it is unless someone tells me differently......?

Hi all just got another Jack*Bot in today needs a good shop job but in real nice condition all the way around only thing is typical red yellow cabinet fade. I would keep it but already own one. Price $2500 before I shop it and list it for more. Thanks

Me too I'm interested in this as I got same problem and worried about too much tension there. Think I'm gonna stick to 4" too if there is no right exact size...

Is there any common reason J107-108 (should be green and yellow GI) keep blowing fuses on startup? Is there anything common to two those strands?

Done! Finished my Bot yesterday, and it plays blazingly fast. Too fast, going by the Youtube vids of other JB's, I think I'm going to have to lower the back a little. Everything works perfectly except for one thing: the right flipper button works the flipper but it doesn't change the "extra ball" lane change, and it doesn't work for the "double or nothing" either. Can't figure out why the flipper works but those don't, would this be an opto problem?

I believe JB uses optic switches on the cab buttons. There are two optos on the little board. One controls flipper the other controls lane change functions and entering initials. One opto may be dirty, flaky or have bad solder joints. Check the little board behind the flipper button first. Good cleaning may help as well.

Yup, that was it, dirty opto. I guess I didn't clean that one off well enough the first time. Plays like a champ again.

4" seems to be working just fine so far.

Had an odd thing happen in the middle of a game just now, maybe one of you long-time owners can tell me if this is normal behavior. I had the visor open for at least the second time and when I shot the game saucer, it locked the ball for multiball just as if I had shot one of the eye-holes. Upon starting another game after this one was finished, multiball was back to normal, only locking in the eye-holes. I'm guessing that with the game saucer multiball lock, this was something in the normal ruleset that I had triggered?

#512 4 years ago

Ive had my Jack Bot a few months(love the game wanted Pinbot but like this even more), does anyone know why the game requires 4 balls when 3 ball multi ball is most u can get? Just wondering.

Playing today I glanced at the DMD which said "lock a ball in any hole" which, I assume, includes the game saucer. So apparently a game saucer lock is part of the rules, but for the life of me I have no idea what I did to enable it. Can someone fill me in? Really liking this game, even though I already own a Pinbot it might just be a keeper.

Who knows what a long game might lead to, perhaps at some point there's a four-ball multiball? Lock one in each of the three holes & then plunge one to begin.

#514 4 years ago

You can watch Bowen's tutorial, he got almost 13B but I don't recall seeing a fourth ball in play.

#515 4 years ago

Maybe the 4th ball happens in mega visor. Ive got there but never got all the lights on. Hmmmmmm?

No, there is never a 4 ball multiball on Jackbot. The 4 ball trough protects against a lost/stuck ball.

Bought some circuit breakers to find my GI issue. Was blowing through fuses like nobody's business.

Has anyone made the bonus X (2X, 3X, etc) decals? my green inserts are all sinking pretty bad

Started assembling and cleaning my Jackbot last night. Pretty messy. I am guessing it was an operator but WOWsomeone used a lot of different oils and goops to try and lube the drop targets as well as the left lift ramp. Gooey sticky mess. Added ColorLED display. The top of the visor doesn't close *completely* and that bugs me so I gotta look at that.

Also I'm having a real issue with the corkscrew ramp. Sometimes the ball doesn't even make it to the ramp and if it does it makes it consistently to the first hole. Are there things I should look out for? Is it possible that the balls are bouncing off the long rubber on the right hand side and bouncing it around? I have yet to actually examine the corkscrew or anything around it YET, just looking for any "gotcha" advice.

Gonna replace the flipper buttons with lit clears this weekend as well as tweaking the LED layouts, too.

Mine did this on the first game after getting it set up. I thought I bought a game with problems at first, but it hasn't happened again. I think its some kind of bug with the code, but I don't know how to repeat it.

Is the plunger hitting the ball dead center? Is the ball making the opening for the ramp cleanly?

#524 4 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Is the plunger hitting the ball dead center? Is the ball making the opening for the ramp cleanly?

Well, I went nuts and took everything apart last night. I replaced the shooter rod rubber, spring, sleeve, added the correct washers. The ball also was falling backwardsinto the shooter rest because it was bent back from... something. So it was a little off-center. Still need to investigate that. Took everything off up to the corkscrew ramp and the ramp flap was bent up very slightly dude to some gunk getting shoved under it from years of either not getting cleaned or just time. That's fine now.

All of these fixes made it *better* but not perfect. I think you're right, I need to work on the shooter lane a bit more. The ball falls backward a little bit when plunging and it falls far enough back the switch deactivates.

#525 4 years ago

Mine has done this once in a while; you go for a full-ish plunge skill shot, and maybe once every 7th or 8th time, it will bauble around at the entrance to the spiral. Made me nervous at first as your sending the ball at top speed into the ramp only to have it go "CLUNK!", but there is rubber and posts there, so I'm not particularly worried, as I am a short-plunge/playfield validation player anyways. I think I may go for a full plunge every 10 games or so just so I don't get credit dot from not hitting the switch...

The next time I shop it out, I'll probably get it tuned perfect; I just don't use that "feature" of the game enough to warrant it at this point.

Not home to test it, but I'm pretty sure this happens in multiplayer games, the scenario is such: player one qualifies and locks a single ball, then drains. Player two then qualifies the locks and the visor lowers, but doesn't kick out the previously locked ball because there is already one in play. Player 2 then has to shoot the saucer or the available eye for a lock; if the saucer is shot, it will count as a lock, and then kick it back out; if the available eye is shot, then one of the eyes will eject a ball.

You can also get some interesting things to happen by locking a ball in a one player game (on ball one), draining, then restarting the game by holding the start button with a ball in the shooter lane.

Those are the two ways I've seen the above described scenario happen...

Yeah, you have to get the game set up PERFECT side ways for it to hit the ramp opening perfect. At least I had to.

Ok, that makes sense. The game must be trying to give player 2 a second target to shoot for since only half the eyes are available. I think I'd rather have the saucer award a casino game vs a lock since either eye is an easy shot from either flipper.

How many cows have you guys come across when playing? So far there's the one in orbit at the beginning of Casino Run; one of the prizes in Casino Run; and the word COW on Pinbot's chest when playing the Slot Machine. Any others? I haven't reached Mega Visor yet, so no idea if there's one there.

Those are the only ones I am aware of. The bride's "moo" for the casino award is my favorite call out in the game.

My Jackbot must need a math tutor. So, after a drain, the bonus is supposed to total up (1) Poker cards & Hit-me cards, (2) Vortex millions, and (3) Dice Wager value, then multiply the total by the bonusX, right? So let's say, for example, (1) is 15,000,000 and (2) is 25,000,000 and (3) is 10,000,000 and my bonusX is 3X, then my bonus should be 50,000,000 x 3 = 150,000,000. Instead I'm getting a slightly lower bonus such as, for the above example, 135,000,000. It's not all the time but it happens frequently enough to notice. Is there something about the bonus calculation that I'm just not understanding?

#533 4 years ago
Quoted from jibmums:

I've noticed the same. It sometimes seems like the total is a little lower than you would expect when there is a multiplier.

I also have a Judge Dredd which seems to do the opposite. You'll have 150m, get a 25m bonus, and somehow end up with 187m when the next ball starts.

Hey there, looking for sideblades for my jack bot but don't want the ones from retro-refurb as I got a terrible experience with the guy.
Any hint?

I think those are the only ones out there. I have mirror blades on mine, had to sand one whole layer of wood off to form a pocket for them to sit in but now the pf comes no where near them so no scratches.

I just finished my Jackbot restore and she played MEAN!
But I have a question to those who have played for a while. Have you ever been able to cheat a free game on match? I’ve tried hundreds of times over the years and still haven’t gotten one

Just had a really good high game, 7,373,000,000 and change. Had a great 3-ball multiball, was nailing jackbots left and right and finally enabled megavisor, though I was still a few squares away from filling in the chest panel to open the visor when I drained. Next time!

Once the visor closes those balls come back at a furious pace.

I haven’t. Sounds like you’re getting some bounce when the ball hits the ramp (perhaps the flap?). Record it in slow mo and post

Was your playfield freshly waxed when you picked it up? My JB will have a higher rate of balls being rejected from the eyes and balls flying out of the ramp entrance when freshly waxed, but has settled down after some plays.
