I've only seen these messages on John Popadiuk's games.

I'm guessing that maybe he was the one who decided change it.

Very fitting since his last name is pronounced, "Pop a duke."

This message is on shadow also. I don't think it's limited to J Pop games.

I edit mine to a custom message since AIDS is no longer real.

    Cops are real. Protect Yourself.

    Shit just got real.....

My machines all say "You Suck at Pinball. Get a Life."

Interesting read from 1995, a time where people believed kissing transmitted AIDS. We have come a long way.

Set it to another country in the dipswitches and you'll be AIDS-free.

I have seen this msg on my AFM and used to on JM before sent off for board repair in May 2016. Caught me totally offguard the first couple of times.

I was just reading an article that stated that AIDS is no longer an issue in Australia.
If you catch HIV it can be controlled with treatment and is no longer a death sentence

    #19 7 years ago

Pops up on my AFM periodically.

    #20 7 years ago

Had the message on The Shadow. Photo is the day I got it before it was torn down.

They never could quite get Safecracker dialed in to periodically kick out condoms.

    #22 7 years ago

Really, what was the point of these being put into the game anyway? Social problems aside, did the pinball companies get gold stars (bonus points, tax advantages) from the gov't at that time?

I still remember the Winners don't do drugs banner on the Narc video game. It was the first game that Williams published after they stopped doing pinball.

They pushed the message to a whole anti drug video game, the problem was that it somewhat promoted drug through the cool life of drug dealers with super weapons against 2 poorly armed cops who kept dying so we would put more coins !

But the DMD makes it look so cool... is that a Martini?

    The guy’s even smiling!
