It seems that it's not really loved or really hated, kind of middle of the road with a great light show......what do the LE guys think after having a chance to play it a lot now....waiting for the Nimble review!

    #2 8 years ago

I too am awaiting the Nimble review. Depending on what he has to say I may pull the trigger on one...

    #3 8 years ago

I honestly am loving mine so far. Of coarse that could change with me. It is Fast, fun and the ball is just NUTS on this table. Great music, Great lights and SUPER FAST! Sometimes too FAST in some ways. I like the rules. I like the layout. Lots of airballs. Not sure if that is bad or good. But I can't wait to play it every time I get home. I just played 6 games in a row when I walked in the door.

If you had to pick one... Which would you go with... Tron:LE or Spider-Man?

    #5 8 years ago

I'm new here. What's the nimble review?

    #6 8 years ago

Nice review Coaster...glad you are enjoying it so much! You might have just pushed Jar over the edge.......does it compare to anything you have played before?

    #7 8 years ago

That is tough. Tron is still new to me so it has the "NEW AND FUN" factor going for it.
But, side by side. I would have to say in MY OPINION I would keep playing Tron over Spiderman. Spidey rocks and is as amazing as they say. They are both fun and they both keep you coming back for more. I really like what they have done with the theme. The playfield looks a little bare compared to spidey but, their seems to be enough to hit to keep me coming back.
    TRON is FAST FAST FAST!

    #8 8 years ago

I think with spiderman and many other pins you tend to know what the outcome is gonna be. The spinning disc really changes that on this table. Forest Gump would sum it up for us like this "You never know whatcha goin git"
    I'm hooked right now.
At times I have missed playing spidey but, Tron has replaced that feeling.

again, I am partial to the TRON theme over a comic as well. Just me though.

I'm still dangling off the cliff, but I'm losing my grip.

    TRON is FAST FAST FAST!

Sounds pretty awesome! Almost like Spidey on steroids in a way. So does the moving recognizer do anything for the gameplay or is it just for show?

Thanks for providing your feedback by the way. Much appreciated!

    #11 8 years ago

I would not say TRON is spidey on steroids as the playfield is more sparse. I would say it is a FASTER game with a very crazy ball that is unpredictable. They are very different. I had a spidey and traded it though. But, I also had a MB, CV, TZ so I do not keep a game just because it has a high fan base.

The recognizer does nothing at all.. JUST moves. It is not big deal. LE your paying for Chrome, Lit ramps, and game code changes along with some other stuff. I dig the ramp lights so I am happy.

That's cool. Doesn't really bother me that it is just for show. I was more curious as to whether or not it actually did do something since I hadn't seen any confirmation one way or the other. The Daft Punk multiball sounds pretty wicked!

I'm thinking this might be a nice change of pace pin from LOTR and (eventually) WOZ to add to my collection.

    #13 8 years ago

The ramp lights are really cool and I guess the sparse playfield is part of what makes it so fast.....

Cmon Jar! It's just a matter of time...wait until the Nimble review hits....hang in there for a while Waldo, you'll understand what the Nimble review is!

I'll have to wait till I get some extended play on a Tron before I make judgement but as of right now I would not put it in the same category as SM. Just saying, I know it's new and all but I'm gonna wait a bit before I go comparing it to some of the best pins ever made.

It does seem like Tron would be a great fit with a LOTR, I think your right on that one.

    #16 8 years ago

Automated has them for $6195 and free shipping.......doesn't mention shaker motor, did yours come with it Coaster?

    #17 8 years ago

They don't come with shakers unless the distributor adds them like GAP offered. I ordered one but I have to go pick it up at GAP along with my speakers and sub.

    #18 8 years ago

GAP may have some LE's too. I am not sure though. I know he has to pick up quite a few still.

    Absolutely agree.

    #20 8 years ago

I remember GAP had a really nice Tron package....speakers and a sub too, man you are blowing it out!

    You guys are evil!!!

    #22 8 years ago

Yep Jar, I would honestly wait to get one because I know wholesalers like Automated will run specials at times to reduce inventory and I'm assuming raise cash.....I picked up my LOTR LE NIB at $5295 with shaker earlier this year......he has it at $5895 now, gotta believe it's gonna drop in price at some point in next few months....patience

Sound advice. Yeah, I don't think there's any way I could in good conscience drop over $6K on Tron when I am getting WOZ for $6.5K. By comparison, Tron feels like it should be in the low to possible mid $5K range.

Definitely jealous man that is pretty cool. Wish I was in your area to see it in person! Are you gonna pick up that sweet topper from pinball life?

    +1 on that

    #26 8 years ago

I agree with the comparison to WOZ, Tron is overpriced absolutely. I will say though if you think you want a TRON LE I would think twice about waiting. LOTR LE did not sell out. You can still get them all over the place. TRON LE sold out to Distributors very quickly. Also, their seems to be a ton of hype about TRON in general. I say if you can get the LE with free shipping or contact GAP I would.

I just played 6 more games and I'll tell ya. It's a BLAST to play. I absolutely LOVE how the ramps change color with modes and they usually match the inserts as well. It makes it sorta like watching a concert live. It is really well done. The music gets better and better the more modes you ignite.

I am sure that I prefer it over spidey at this point. But, I do not always agree with everyone else's opinions of machines. Good Luck

    #27 8 years ago

That topper is unreal Dude...gotta get that too Coaster!

I'm on TSPP LE watch myself...cmon Stern, mix that one in the production equation too, and no added overhead associated with producing that one!

    #28 8 years ago

    JUST ordered it RIGHT NOW!

    #29 8 years ago

    Now my TRON will have
    Topper
    Sub-speaker upgrade
    Shaker
Led's through including all flashers color matched
    PDI glass

I don't care for the undercabinet lighting. It just highlights the scratches I have put into my wood flooring moving too many pins

    #30 8 years ago

Congrats! Tricked out like Tatman's.....love it, what can Nimble add to it?

    #31 8 years ago

I bought several toys too but, Not sure if I want to change it that much. I may swap out the light cycles for the larger set and the arcade game. On a rainy day.

    #32 8 years ago

Wow! I just get back from seeing HP7pt2 and there is all of this buzz about what I think of TRON!

    ...waiting for the Nimble review!

    Looks in the mirror...

    images-1.jpeg

    Nope- that is not me.
You guys must be confusing me with some OTHER expert out there!
I am here to kick ass and chew Pinball.
    Wait, that's not right...

    Oh look, there's Selma!!!

    images-2.jpeg

    ....

    But seriously guys!
TRON is awesome... Pro or LE! (Mine will be delivered next week...)
I don't have quite the time on it like coast or tatman.
The games I have played on the pro model from CAX- made me want it that much MORE.
It is not a SM on 'roids. It is simply a "very fun" and "addictive" machine...
Coast summed up the feeling... You walk in, see it- and you just want to play it!!!
It will compliment my LOTR perfectly in the grand scheme of what I want my humble 'Pincade' to have...
Just like WOZ will offer something else that the other two machines don't have. Having similar machines is the LAST thing I want in such a small space.
No tatman "sprawling sub-dwelling" for ol' NP...
    One day though...
    Come to think of it-
I did JUST change out my failing 1970's 100 amp main to a 200 amp main...
I can now put in another house's worth of electricity!
Hooray! 1 pin per breaker! Let the meter spin, spin, SPIN!

I will give a review after 200 plays or so...
    Just buy it Binksy!
You know you have ALREADY convinced yourself!
    Silly Gungan!

    #33 8 years ago

what can Nimble add to it?

For starters, a decent- more menacing Recognizer! (Work in Progress??? )
Led's (Great job so far coast!), shaker, Mirror Blades, 'Flipper Fidelity' system, undercab lighting, figures...

Oh- I almost forgot about the topper!
(Very early stages right now... )

I just need some down time to actually "Do Work!" as the kids say...

I hope Cliffy has some new bits for us soon!
I know he's REALLY busy- patrolling Pinside as the newly appointed "Grammar/Diction-Brute-Squad"...
I'm just jerkin' yer chain..! (Cliffy)

You can smack my hands with that stainless steel ruler you have!
    I'll behave from now on...
