I’ve been collecting pinball machines for about 7 years. Bought my first game when my youngest was 6 years old. In all these years my kids have shown minimal interest in pinball. More of the pc gamer types.
But something has changed in the past month. Two of the three have out of nowhere taken up playing. And i don’t mean when i’m down in the gameroom. It’s on their own all times of the day. Often individually. I of course think this is great.
It started with one. Alice Cooper. They both love this game. Thats all they were playing. Taught themselves the rules. Aiming, nudging even. Alice is quite loud so even upstairs i can here it. Fighting a monster. Then in no time i hear they found another one on the same ball. Even beating a few in a game and setting some high scores.
My (now) 12 year old is moving around the room and playing other games. This week it is CV. He currently has the #1 high score (GC still owned by @coyote) and has made it to the Join the Cirqus mode twice since yesterday. Hasn’t beat it but he is getting close. My theory is having practiced so much on a difficult shooter it has accelerated his progress on the easier pins. They both tear up MM now too, 15yo has the GC on that now.
Tonight my youngest told me Alice is not perfectly level. I was like whatever punk, its level - play better. For fun i pulled the glass and checked. 0.06 degrees off. So i fixed that and now it apparently plays waaaayyy better lol.
Guess i’m just having a proud pindad moment. I don’t get to play my games as much as i should in the past couple years. So i’m happy that they are getting a tonne of use again. I think it’s time i show em how to clean and wax them…
