I've been a long time Stern Pinball fan, but I'm done with them.

    You guys are all pissy now but when the next Game comes out Im betting most of you will buy it just like you are buying a revamped Costco Batman for stupid money. Remember that I have been saying for years that Stern is fucking its buyers up the ass and I got poo pooed for it. You are finally realizing it. But it wont last, people have short memories, just look at the people in public office and the shit they do and they still get voted in.

    Quoted from jackofdiamonds:

    Stern=Data East
    If you played pinball on route in the nineties you would remember that the B/W stuff was the best,The Data East games were always second rate and nobody dropped quarters into them unless the B/W stuff was broken or removed.B/W closes.All we are left with is the second rate Data East stuff.
    Except now its called Stern.
    And its 8k.And comes with incomplete software.

    Stern games are toys compared to W/B games. You see W/B game that have been o route for years and years that look better than a stern that is a couple years old. You see holes jogged out, shooter lanes destroyed, ball return holes damaged and clear and ink chipping off after a few years even in home use on stern games. The truth is that stern doesn't give two shits about anything other than making money as fast as possible. If the game you buy today is junk next year to bad, they will sell you a new one.

    Quoted from pinballwil:

    I had most of the Data East machines at home.
    I think they are les complex than bw games but not less quality.
    Some of them are a bit clunky to play and the rules are less deep.
    But great light and sound and display animations.
    Easy to repair.
    Same as Stern only the spike system is not for home collectors , its made for 4 years arcade life span and then trash them.
    Same as the MM remake , if you want to collect a MM by a Original one.
    This modern smd 10,000 transistor cpu/sound display board is not to repair .

    You are the first to say this or at least I have never heard it before. If this is the case no one should be buying new stern games. I'm sure however that someone will build a board that will replace the spike board although the PF probably won't last over 4 years either. I would love to read more about this or where you get this from. It doesn't surprise me however as I have no love for Stern at all. I do love GB and I would love to buy a used one down the road but you may just have prevented me from doing that.
