So I just found a fairly rough TAFG for a decent price and I am fixing it up. I wanted some advice specific to this game (specifically the limited badge or plaque, but I’ll get to that…) and I searched for a club thread. It appears there hasn’t been one, so now there is! I’m going to still be involved in the regular TAF group, but I’m thought specific questions and topics could be discussed here (without making everyone else jealous! Hahaha).

So to my question, my plaque is a little scratched up and possibly tarnished. Anyone have a great picture of an original or mint plaque? I’m curious what it’s supposed to look like before I go and start messing with it!

Thanks in advance.

As suggested, a TAFG owner list (voluntary)

So start your own club to be better than a non gold machine ..

What number is your machine? Here's mine, #949. Original owner was an operator in Baltimore area, had never routed it but had it in his home and barely got any plays. I've owned 3 of these throughout the years but this one is the nicest shape. One if these days j will replace the shooter rod he put on it, don't care for it, maybe get a brass one instead.

For sure not. I was just kidding. But I’m figuring on discussions that won’t pertain to the taf club. Like the plate question I have and was already solved by another “club” member.

Thanks for your reply. So your plate looks just like mine without the scratches!! Hahah. I’m number 295. I just did a ton of upgrades and it cleaned up REALLY well.

Color dmd, new brass legs, hinges, side rails, lockdown bar, wireforms, and shooter rod. I have a brass coin door on the way (too much?). Also, voodoo glass.

Wow! That’s about all mine needs is a new cab. Where did you get it?

Also, here’s the straight but chipped and worn rails if anyone wants originals (maybe they look better than yours at least?). Just pay shipping.

If your plaque is rough get a new one from this guy. He will engrave your number if you can prove you currently own a gold.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Hence a gold thread! Thanks a ton for that post.

Looks like he also does reproduction certificates. Nice!

Well, except that we in the regular TAF thread have known about that for a while... (Somebody just posted about the certificate reprint like 5 months ago, too.)

I'm just having a bit of fun, I really don't care either way.

Fair enough. Definitely getting a little blowback on the new club thread. Was it weird when someone posted about repro certificates in the regular tax thread?

I’ll keep this up to see if there’s any more interest. I’m personally curious how many of the serial numbers can be accounted for by pinsiders. Is that info out there somewhere? We know of three now I guess…

Here's what's left of the owners list that was started in the 90s and ported to a now defunct Swedish site in 2018.

I'm number 0017.

Quoted from paynemic:

Absolutely not. That thread is about 1/5 gold games, 4/5 regular games. Then there are those in the thread who have customized their regular games with gold parts, too. It's a nice fluid mix of both. No detractors towards either side at all. There's really not that much outside of a few cosmetic parts and a different ROM that's actually different between the two versions. I think that's why there's only ever been the one thread.

Don't worry about the flak on making this new thread. If it dies out and everybody goes back to the other one, so be it. If this one keeps going, so be it. Important information will be shared between the two regardless.

I think this would be an interesting list to put together. Serial numbers and location. Not sure what the best approach would be. But number 8 and number 738 are currently with me in Pittsburgh.

I wish the pin map option would let us filter for TAFG games instead of just all TAF games lumped in generically. The two games can be selected separately in collections and market results. Maybe robin could help us with that.

Hey I’m looking for reprints of the original apron cards. Mine are a little grungy. I don’t really want upgraded ones. Just new originals. Anyone know where to get them?

#19 1 year ago

Used to be that the IPDB kept that kind of stuff on their site for each game, but I don't know if it's there for TAF/G.

Is this what you need? Take the image to any print shop. Tell them you want it printed on 12pt kromecote card stock or similar. Give them final dimensions of 3 1/4” by 6”. Should turn out great for like $5. Let me know if you need price cards or anything else. I uploaded this file to ipdb as well.

Sweet! Perfect. Thanks. I’d love the price card too!

Was it originally that off white? Or is that what kromecote is?

#22 1 year ago

Kromecote is the cardstock weight I think. Similar to a 3x5 card. Here is the back of a kromecote it is Snow White. My rule card has yellowed a bit but isn’t bad. You could lighten it up in photoshop probably too.

Here are a few price cards. Just crop the one you like. I have no idea what is original.
