I picked up this JackBot from an Italian shipping container buy, and the main thing I've noticed right off the bat is this big device wired into the main box output (the part that goes to the transformer). It looks like it splits off of a couple of lines into it, and then outputs power to the 12v, 5v and ground lines. This is most definitely not from the factory, so without having turned this thing on at all, can anyone hazard a guess as to why the previous operator might have felt it was necessary?

You have driver board problems, He is using it to put the 5v and 12v right to the board. You should be able to fix the driver board and get rid of the power supply.

It's a switching power supply commonly found in arcade machines from the 80's and 90's (and newer). Power supply board must be flawed/not working.

The power supply section is built into the driver board on WPC games. They don't have a separate power supply board.

Ahh, okay. Well, power supply "section" then. Interesting to know. Thanks.
