I fell in love with Congo at MGC last March. I had a chance to play another one at Pinball Circus in April..........I think that's when it was. A great game IMO. My question is why was there a B&W (2nd) version made? Not a big deal..............just wondering.

I've only come across the B&W once and the seller claimed it was more "rare". I figured this was Williams' solution for cab fade Here are some pics for reference of the B&W and my own Congo which I love!

How is the game b&w on the right side then in color?

#4 11 years ago

The pics are of two different machines.

Congo has great music as well.

I think the b&w one is the prototype. A friend has one. Mine looks way better

You picked the right machine, IMO. I would love one again someday. I would say the game is underrated but it has been steadily climbing this year. I looks like people are starting to appreciate its nuances.

Congrats!

Whenever there is a Congo thread I always feel the need to post about the Volcano shot being one of the best/most satisfying shots in all of pinball.

I was so "green" in ownership when I had Congo. I had no idea how special the game was, that shot in particular!

I totally agree with this. And getting that extra ball from hitting it repeatedly is very satisfying.

Great game. Played it at Pinfest this year for the first time in a long time and see why the love. Congrats!

That was my Congo at the MGC last March, glad you enjoyed it. I really like the game and obviously feel you made the right choice. I have since sold mine to buy The Shadow, but my old Congo is still in MN in very good hands.

"Amy love pinball!"

Brings a tear to my eye when I hear that voice over in the pin.

I love mine too but is going out in the next week or two for shadow as well! Both amazing games

As for the black and white cab. Its rarer because it was sold as a kit by williams. You dropped the Congo playfield into another can and they gave you the black and white decals to put on. Not sure why they offered this. Guess it was sort of like a pin2k thing?

Shadow and Congo. I would have to give the nod to Shadow. When I want to feel humiliated.........I play The Shadow.
