My Story.
3 Years ago, things moving smoothly, I get a text from Jeff, Pinball Pimp.
"Do I want a Bride of Pinbot?" For a moment, I didnt give it much thought.
BOP seemed old, I only have played about 6 games, hearing or doing nothing and it wasnt
on my radar. Yet, the game is all over Pinside!
What the heck, its a good price, might as well give it a try.
What I picked up, was a game Jeff started restoring, He was going to drop in a new playfield, as this
was badly worn, and new decals for some fading.
But by the time the tech work and bulletproofing was done, the game would not be worth the full restore.
So, I drove home with a New Playing Awesome, players game.
I managed about 12 games, before it was wrapped up for storage.
Today, I managed to finish my shop job, I had had the playfield mostly touched up, but I hated the dark incandescent look on this,
and I had some eye issues on the face. 3 Years to LED a game.....who would think?
But I bring this up to share with you something I started 3 years ago.
I did not like the dark left ramp, and had seen what others had done.
I went through all my bins...prototypes, 12v, 5v, 6.3v. tried everything,
I wasnt happy with lighting the far left saucer, I wanted it GI responsive.
No matter what I did with strips, along the back, sides of ramp, spotlights, etc....I couldnt get a look that made me happy.
Here is my result. A 6.3v Sideways 45 degree 3528 strip from Comet, with a 12" extension, and a frosted white Matrix splitter bulb.
Attached to GI nd tucked under the ramp edge, I added four glue spots.
I didnt like those that faced up. I didnt like those not in coordination with GI, and I got tired of adjusting the brightness constantly to soften a too bright corner, that was previously dark.
The strip casts a nice soft light upward, and at 45 degrees lights the lamp gently, with a reflection that looks like stars on the other
side.
I am Happy......Maybe not for everyone, but it does what I had in mind.....3 years later. Pics suck.....
What is your biggest procrastination?
