Quoted from shlt_thunder:Maybe a really famous band could write a song about pinball that they could play on the radio every day for like 50 years since that has never happened?
Oh come on, WHO would ever do that...?

Quoted from Dogford_Studios:Mainstream really means dumbing down the games for the masses. (what pinhead wants that?)
I was watching people at a barcade over the Christmas break and most people didn't have a clue how to start a game. One guy asked me how to start a game and I pointed to the big button that said "Start Game".
After one ball they'd think the game was over and walk away.
Just about any game you'd approach had four players racked up and it would be on ball two. Player already moved on to the next thing.
Yeah, I was at a barcade last week, there was a mother and her daughter there (maybe about 10 years old). The mother was playing Led Zep, while the daughter tried to play TMNT next to me by repeatedly pressing the button on the lockdown bar. I pointed her to the flipper button, so she tried to use one hand for the right-side flipper and the other hand on the lockdown bar button. She played one ball and walked away. I weep for the future...
Quoted from DanQverymuch:Does that mean we're done, it happened, pinball is mainstream now?
Yes, pinball is mainstream now. I know this because whenever I visit Pinside all the threads are about pinball, well, except for this one.
Quoted from Palmer:You should start your own pinball company and show these old farts how it should really be done.
Yeah, I heard that "Pinball is Easy".
If you want pinball to be more "mainstream" then what you need is a pinball-themed sitcom show.
You know, something that captures all of the crazy hi-jinks of a pinball repair shop.
The old-timer repair guy that hates machines with those new-fangled things called flippers.
The sleezy salesman that tries to sell Stern Pros as "Collector Editions".
Wacky customers that complain about chipping playfields.
Young kids that can't find the Start button.
Hilarity ensues...
