Finished installing with the GI wiring. Moving on to the switch run.

I know the #1 suggestion is to "take lots of photos" but wondering what other advice/approach you to take when reinstalling the wiring harness. I'd love the insight/tips on making sure you don't miss anything.

Well first is don't be overwhelmed by the process. Take it slow, one step at a time. As you are seeing I first separate the three harnesses and install one completely before moving on. This way I can focus on that harness and what's installed on it. I start with the GI harness as there is alot of screwing the light sockets down. Second one is the switch harness, which is alot of screwing down again, but different screw types. Also alot of soldering to be done once its installed. Lastly I finish with the flash lamp and power for the coils. Overall it's a long process, but rewarding when finished. Hope this helps.
One thing I have not mentioned yet was the type of drill screw driver I use. I have found that a Black & Decker VP720 works the best. It's an older type, but love that I can use one hand to install and power the drill and push/hold down on the screw with the other hand if necessary. It installs at a very good slow speed and doesn't over power the screw in. Also I use two batteries, one in use and one in the charger as I am installing alot of screws.

Note: For those of you that don't know, a good soldering station is very important to own. A soldering station with adjustable heat is needed. Heat setting should be at 750 Fahrenheit or about 400 Celsius. I also use soldering liquid flux, just a dab on the bair wire so that the solder flows real well and you get a good connection.

Yup! I have a pace mbt industrial solder/desolder myself, makes swaps and rebuilds soooo much easier
Haven't worked on TAF the last few days due to I was waiting for different back board decals to come in. Have come to the point they needed to be on and finished for me to move on further with the restoration. Since I posted the playfield back board mod/decals I have been working with the designer on reprinting them on see through white so that the LEDS lighting that are behind will be distributed more evenly. I think it turned out great.

Well I wasn't going to post this, but I am anyhow as sometimes shit just happens. So, went to install the bookcase yesterday, the top bracket screw hole was a bit in the way of installation due to the flipper bracket being in the way. Thought I would install it anyway (my mistake) and the screw went in a bit sideways. Should have removed the flipper first. Would be just fine, but the bookcase itself is a bit unlevel (didn't notice this) and was in need of a shim under this top bracket. I installed a shim and went to reinstall the screw and snapped it off! (Bad words were spoken)
Once I got the broken screw removed the hole now was a bit stripped and had to do a fix.
Long story is that best plans don't always work, just need to take a breath, walk away and move forward on another day.

I agree, should be called fill and hold with a part number id10t. lol

Thanks guys! Chris is an amazing restorer. I feel honored that you would state my restoration is in that caliber.
I am down to little bugs and adjustments. Also to add additional lighting and spot lighting, the fun stuff to do. So keep watching as the finish line is not far off.
Can you post where you got all these cool add ons? I will be doing a complete makeover like this to my Addams Gold and love what you have done thus far.

Wow. Turned out great! Wish I had the skills and talent to take on a project like this!
I like the added color of pop bumper caps and LEDs, but curious if the pictures aren't doing it justice or if you really see each individual LED under the pop caps? The still picture doesn't look "right" to me. Maybe it's the transparent/clear caps? Machine looks great!

Here is a better picture of the playfield lit. The pop bumpers have color caps along with matching LEDS. White LEDS are on the underside of the body's that help light surrounding areas by the pop bumpers.

Sure can, I have noted on some throughout this thread. If there is something pickular you want me to focus on let me know. Most lighting mods are home made by me, some are purchased.
Have finished with the bookcase lighted mod and works great. I added a double flex light to light up the sign. It only works when facing you and does shut off once greed is spelled and the bookcase rotates. This is done by that I added a second switch at the shut off point on the underside and tied this to the lights and GI circuit.
On the far right plastic, I removed the socket/bulb and added a small 6V LED strip light of 6 blue LEDS. I added the strip to the lower plastic this way it gave it a bit move distance and better distribute of the light. Looks good.

Quoted from RGarriott:Looks good Mike. So basically you just cut your 5v bulb out, cut a strip of leds and installed in its place?
Yes, basically that's what I did. I removed the bulb socket as it would have blocked some of the lights due to the strip I installed is below. I used the same power source due to that the strip I installed is the same voltage. Very simple mod.
So, upon further investigation this one is a bit tuff to do. Alot going on in and around/underneath this area. I do see a small gap between the post tee nut and the bracket for the ramp diverter. Usually I like to use original lamp sockets, but no room for that here. Have to use strip lighting again. Since the plastic that will be above this area is all green, makes sense to use a green strip. That's what I will do.

I'm definitely using lighted caps
