Something is wrong for sure KPG. Should at least make it an easy call for stern to swap your PF. I was looking at one of my games on location just yesterday, it has about 4-5k games on it and my shooter lane has less wear than that.

I'm with you. A non-defective playfield should have minimal wear here. My metallica is probably close to 2k plays and looks fine. Other games ranging from sterns, wms and JJP are fine with thousands of plays. We should not have to buy extra protection to compensate for a quality problem at stern.

I took a really close look and it is fine. It is one of the early build metallica's, pre LED. The edge has smoothed a little but the clear is fine. Nothing like what you see in these pictures. More of a soft gradual wear than clear flaking off. My Metallica is wearing like my old williams games. My ACDC is the same as is WOZ. The last two are both out on location. I gave them both a really good look just the other day because of all of this.

Bet it will play fast!

I suspect I will buy more NIBs but I will not buy any game until I am confident in it. I'm not touching any stern for a while to make sure the PFs are fixed and that they stand up to play. It is nuts that people are putting mylar on a shooter lane of a HUO pin to protect it. If that is the new normal I am done for sure!

There is too much hype around each release and everyone is going nuts so a bit of time is needed for the hype to settle down so you can see things more clearly. I seriously wonder how many fake accounts there are on pinside of people that are working for a manufacturer or distributor adding fuel to the release hype fire.
