Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

It's tough because the maker of the PFs should be required to produce very good quality work to get paid. They (CGC & FUN) are not stepping up to the plate putting Stern in a tough spot.

Do we know this?

Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

This is all just my gut feeling on it I have no inside info on this.

Guess not.

For all we know, CGC is providing them will new PF's and that is why the LE's stopped until the new PFs arrived.

Quoted from jeffspinballpalace:

You have it backwards - numerous GB pro & GBLE's have documented issues. Very few problems are reported on GB prem, because Stern just started running them. The ghosting issue appears to be on any Stern coming out the factory, it is not limited to specific titles or models. I agree that the problem is likely caused by smooth inserts not grabbing and holding the clearcoat.

He was talikg about Game of Thrones, not Ghostbusters.

And Stern hasn't started making the Premium Ghostbusters yet.

Quoted from Chicoman:

What do you expect for $8,000? A machine that looks flawless and mint? We need a CEO who's gonna make Pinball Great Again because right now the quality just plain sucks!

Gary Stern: I will build a wall around the bad playfields, and JJP is going to pay for it!

#164 7 years ago

Supposedly, the LE run is starting back up this week, after a brief stop.

We need to pay attention to LE games made in August, to see if they have the ghosting problem. This will tell us Premium buyers what to expect.

Quoted from Guinnesstime:

Mine's on the truck. Delivery Wednesday. Has to be a late July mfg date.

I've heard they didn't make any in late July. I think mid July was the cutoff. Hopefully, that time off was to address the issue.

VERY curious to see your manufacture date. Could enlighten us if there really was a pause in the manufacturing. Could just be rumors.

Quoted from catboxer:

I think you guys are being a little goofy if you think 24 hours of having the glass off is going to help cure your clearcoat any faster. Couldn't hurt, but I can't imagine it can help much at all.

Insanity is slowly taking over Pinside.

Maybe chanting an Incan fertility dance would help.

Quoted from JoeJet:

Get a Hobbit. I have never been so impressed. Game play is awesome. Ignore the haters that have played an early game with early code at a show.

Some people's criticism of The Hobbit have nothing to do with the code.

Hard to get a feel for the code, when the game puts you to sleep in 30 seconds.

#412 7 years ago
Quoted from kpg:

I'd take my Hobbit over my GBLE in two seconds, and that's not even considering the playfield falling apart w/ my GB.
Hobbit is a much better quality package all around, and so much fun in a different way. It's a great pin. If it puts you to sleep you should see a doctor as you might have some health issues that need to be addressed.

My health is great!

I just need more than a bunch of drop targets and a spinning dragon head that doesn't interact with the ball.

Maybe I should buy a Hobbit for sleepless nights. Better than Tylenol PM!

Hobby lobby. $1 a sheet
Keeps your ball eject area nice and protected as well

Do you have a pic of how you placed it in your lane?

Quoted from rubberducks:

Wrong, I'm afraid.
The problem is systematic, and I don't know why you believe they have good intentions or want to make things right when they knew this cheapening would have such results.
They're using cheap, soft, un-aged wood and don't appear to be allowing adequate drying and hardening time for the clear either. That and a host of other issues.
They're doing this because it's cheap and increases their margins. They're not going to go back to a much more expensive product which they previously used (which still would have been much cheaper than what's in JJP, HW and DP machines). So the problem isn't going to be fixed. There might be ways of making it less horrific, or the consequences appear less quickly, but it can't be 'fixed' without reverting to a more expensive product.

Nonsense. It cost them way more money to have to ship out new playfields than what they save. They will fix it 100%. They have to fix it to survive. It will not just be "less horrific".

You're a well known Stern basher. Time to give it a rest.

Quoted from rubberducks:

LOL.
You jump in to defend the indefensible on their part at every opportunity.
I criticise the patently indefensible.
They were supposedly working on a fix when production was mostly halted for nearly a month, yet 2-3 months later they're still shipping games in exactly the same state.
The cause is due to what I specified. If you believe that they go back to using a higher quality of materials, you're living in dream land.

I said they would fix the problem 100%. You're making assumptions on the higher quality vs lower quality material.

We haven't seen the Premium runs yet, so you're being presumptuous.

Like I said, time to give it a rest. You continually regurgitate bile and negativity towards Stern, and it's just a broken record at this point.

Quoted from rubberducks:

I'm not making any assumptions about the wood. It's a fact. That's why the wood is very visibly different, that's why the durability is so low. It is an assumption regarding their clearcoating ... but an educated one.
So they're going to go back to better quality PFs for Premiums, replace all the LE PFs, and let the Pros continue with the current archetype?
Do you believe what you're typing? Not worth even talking to you.

I said they would fix the problem 100%, so that ghosting isn't an issue again. You keep putting other words in my mouth.

It is completely worthless speaking with you.

Now, where is that ignore button? Ah....there it is!

Cheerio, Gov'ner!
