Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

Willy Wonka was a strange and creepy movie. Are so many of you really hot to trot for a WW pin?

Absolutely. WW was a great movie, that went way deeper than a weird man and his factory. I can't wait for a pin of this, I'm in as soon as it is announced.

#402 5 years ago

I don't have much interest in a Wonka pin but I said the same thing 2 years ago about the POTC pin that I now happily own. So, I am remaining open to it's possibilities. But, I am more interested in a Toy Story or Harry Potter based pin.

I know Harry Potter has been mentioned quite a bit, but what a cool theme with so much universe.

My Dialed In shipped about 8 months after the announcement. That's still too long in my book. Hopefully they get better.

They have, took me 3 years from the announcement of ECWOZ

Can we skip to the part where Guns n Roses gets announced / released? Toy Story is a terrible license for pinball and WW is older than the pyramids.

All for GnR !!!!!

Quoted from JustLikeMe:

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's a standard body designed by Pat.
Edit: To clarify, I'm personally happy that it's a standard body because that's my preference, but I do understand that others feel differently!

And you know this for certain?.

#412 5 years ago
Quoted from Greenandwhite:

What is the average time between an announced pin and when the games begin to ship? Wonka could be epic, looking forward to seeing the final product!

The whole reason it’s been two years since we’ve seen a new announcement is to close the wild gap between announcing and shipping. Plan is to ship within a short period of announcements, like big daddy pinball stern does. Ship within a couple weeks of announcement.

Yeah, lots of unsettling undertones, so surprised it fits the 2019 era.

Next!

A TRON VE and a JJP Willy Wonka are just about the only two pins I can think of to get me to pay today’s CRAZY prices, but I still hope they both come out soon, to the detriment of my wallet.

Thank you for making my mind up! I am 100% in on buying Wonka if it comes out. I can’t wait to expose my two young children to the creepy undertones of an outdated movie.... Oh wait, let’s see, I watched Wonka in elementary school and thought the movie was a fun tale about kids running though an awesome chocolate factory. Ironically I bought the movie yesterday and wactched it with my Daughter. She loved it. Very fitting for 2019.

#416 5 years ago

Dont like the movie at all, still can be a fun pin theme. But rather see something different from JJP. Woz, hobbit, potc and wonk are a bit the same genre. Fantasy themed.

Guns and roses would be fantastic and refreshing, or Jaws.

POTC should have been Jaws with the rocking boat etc could have been really cool.

#418 5 years ago

I loved the Willy Wonka book from Roald Dahl as a child, but I have never seen any of the movies. Theme is not really that important to me - I tend to prefer unlicenced themes in my pinball games. I do think that the JJP treatment of themes is very good and after a while playing you forget that a pin is based on a movie and get immersed in the pin’s story itself. That being said I am a fan of Gene Wilder (Johnny Depp, too, actually). I guess I will need to reread the book and watch the movies. I’m looking forward to seeing JJP’s next pin, particularly because I’ve ruled out getting a Stern pin due to the repairability issues with Spike.

Well, it'll probably be a great game but have a quick google of 'snozberry'

I have a couple questions:

1: Is jjp still using the linex pc or has this changed?
2: Any word if jjp going to invest on making his own mpu board simular to sterns
3: Anyone know when we will see pics of WW, as in time frame, weeks, months

Youll see it at Texas Pinball Festival in March.

The podcast that shall not be named mentioned that images may have been leaked online.

Assume you mean Kaneda's Podcast? (Honestly dont know, I saw soneone else mention that he was banned here for some reason).

#425 5 years ago
Quoted from Coz:

So will JJP release back to back pins with Johnny Depp or will it be the original?? Has there been any confirmation?
[quoted image]

Johnny Depp's version was an abortion. He and Tim Burton went super high on the weird, dysfunctional theme and the movie they made is a brightly, painted shallow imitator. No, just no.

#426 5 years ago

just watched wilder ww yesterday. if this pin is made with og wilder version i am buying it 100 percent take my dang money. !!!

#427 5 years ago

I rewatched the 1964 willy wonka yesterday. The movie is one of my top ten films in life. Gene Wilder made the film unique to me. So it would need to be original wonka pin.

Unlike Woz the theme, Willy Wonka could hit home.

hmm ok, I thought that was false and was actually Toy Story.

#432 5 years ago

But... WHERE?

#433 5 years ago

Willy Wonka for the win! Wish Toy Story first, but happy with WW at TPF next month. Finally JJP will be releasing a new table after two years waiting. Just hope they don’t up prices. That would not be good for JJP or us customers.

#434 5 years ago

Any chatter on how many different versions might be available? Standard body w Pat on board sounds perfect to me.

#435 5 years ago

It should be only an LE. $8,500 and it’ll sell like hot cakes. Standard, LE, CE makes no sense, with little differences, other than paint. Or if they do this as before, limited LE to 500, not 2500. Even Stern knows this is not good marketing.

The JJP CE roughly maps to a Stern LE and has smaller limits. The JJP LE maps to a Stern Premium, except JJPs is limited and Stern's is not. The JJP Standard maps to a Pro.

#437 5 years ago

I know that, but my point is Sterns playfields reflect different options, not just paint. Like Munsters Pro has no lower PF, etc. If that were JJP, they’d all have a lower PF the way they build them. Good for standard, but not compelling to buy higher than an LE. LE not compelling because 2500 is not really too limited, like Sterns 500 LE models.

I actually like that JJP gives you the whole game at all trim levels, and if you pencil out the jump from Standard to LE, the parts are worth pretty much the difference in price. They aren't bending you over for a nicely-appointed machine.

I agree from a consumer standpoint, but from a business viewpoint, Stern’s model works well, because LEs sellout sight unseen almost.

At $1000 less and minimum 1/4 as many units. JJP is perfectly happy selling 4x as much product at $1000 more per unit, from a business standpoint.

Not one to listen to pinball podcasts. But the Pinball News pinball podcast released yesterday did an interview with Jack. It's a very informative interview, with Jack mentioning that Pat Lawlor's game will release first, then a second game will be released later this year. Also mentioned that they have increased staff at the factory, and that there are zero Hobbitt, WOZ, POTC games available at the factory. Finally, there are currently 22 DI games available at the factory, and there will be another run of WOZ.

Great news, if true about two titles being released this year by JJP

I assume this means that they have geared up production of whatever machine is to be shown at Texas Pinball Festival. Would be great to have units ready to ship immediately after the reveal!!!!

So I assume we are in concurrence that the first game will be standard-body Lawlor Toy Story, a YBR WoZ (yellow brick road wizard of oz) followed by Wonka later this year?

Edit: ok so this?

1) YBR WoZ + Wonka (same release @ TPF)
2) Lawlor Toy Story (release TBD)

Wonka is before Toy Story.

2) Lawlor standard body Toy Story (release TBD)

I'd love to see Wonka dispense actual golden tickets to players who finish the wizard mode, a la Safecracker.

#446 5 years ago

Wonka features I'd like to see:

Everlasting Gobstopper orb with color-changing LEDs or LCD screen to progress "through" the Gobstopper
Interactive backbox with glass elevator game, which interacts with the elevator topper

The issue is every $500 in price increase there are a large number of sales losses starting $8500 when Stern and CGC can be had under $6000 is killing them

#448 5 years ago

Well JJP already had a price increase with the tax law of about $600 here in VA alone. I certainly wont buy pins north of 8500. Looking at 10k already once you add shipping. But thats for another thread.

#449 5 years ago

That is bs to blame JJP for the impact of sales taxes voted in by your legislature. If you don't like sales taxes vote the people out who pass them but don't blame businesses that have to collect them. Or do you think that JJP should absorb them on your behalf????

If he can’t or won’t spend 10k on a pin he shouldn’t be chastised for that. Higher taxes cause us all to lose, is I think what his point was. Unfortunately the voting populace in this country is fine with continued voting for two sides of the same coin, moving us in the same direction ultimately. Until that changes, nothing else will.
