I have read some posts in the past with rumors of this title being made, anyone know if its going to happen? Is JJP doing this? If so I need to start saving right now

    #2 6 years ago

I don't know if it's left the rumor stage. Or ever will.

Too many of the rumors are wishful thinking.

    LTG : )

I hear you Lloyd, Man if JJp made this pin it would be so damn good!!!

    #4 6 years ago

Probably one day, but will be the Depp version. Which will be a shame because the original should have never been touched. JMO

    #5 6 years ago

No way, it would definitely be the original movie and made by jjp. It's a strong rumor, so I would bet on it. A Depp version wouldn't fit the jjp style of classic license's.

    #6 6 years ago

Only JJP could do the original justice, and if they gave it the same care as WOZ, it could be AMAZING, BUT does JJP have another WOZ in them? They about went broke doing it...

They'd be fine now. Woz was underpriced and cost them dearly. I'm sure they have their price point now, and all their follow up games were just as packed with features. Wonka would be a great fit for jjp.

    #8 6 years ago

I agree. Wonka would be an excellent fit for JJP. It might come but probably not for a while.

    #9 6 years ago

Wasn't Wonka the next rumored title after Toy Story for JJP?

    #10 6 years ago

    Id buy that instantly

    #11 6 years ago

I would like to see a Toy Story

    #12 6 years ago

Count me in for a JJP Wonka. The damn Wonka slot has been draining my wallet for years. I can't resist.

    Dreams can come true!

They seem to have survived making Dialed In with a layout as loaded as TZ but less cramped and in a standard body, so why not?

JJP....please take me.....to a world of pure imagination....

If they don't have Gene Wilder's "You get NOTHING! GOOD DAY SIR!" when you tilt, why even bother with this license?

    #16 6 years ago

It's real. Just be patient. Willy Wonka by JJP in 2019.

It will be the best pin ever made.

The wife and I went to Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. Every casino on the strip had new and elaborate Willy Wonka slot machines with JJP-style displays and graphics..... and it was the original, not the new one. I'm not a slot guy, but after watching these machines for a minute, it looked like something that would work very well with a JJP type display.

???? this statement confuses me. JJP has made 4 games . WOZ , Hobbit , Dialed in , and pirates of the carribean . WOZ, yes based on the classic movie . Hobbit, based on the recent movies (not the book). Dialed in , original theme . Pirates of the Caribean , based on somewhat recent movies . 3 out of 4 games are not classic licenses . They've only made 1 game based on a classic movie license, how is that to be considered their style? For the record ,I'd rather see the original movie used as well though ( the Depp version doesn't do much for me)

Here's a crappy YouTube vid (not mine) of the new Willy Wonka slot machine. It's based on the old movie.

This little munchkin finds it very funny that you would even mention this Johnny Depp Character. Everyone knows there is only 1 Willy Wonka and that is Gene Wilder.

Willy Wonka would be what I would buy possibly . Based on the classic Gene Wilder film. Think of all the cool music and theme modes and working toys that could be put in this machine . Way more creative than a re-theme . I hope I am right . Sounds Dope.

I would argue that both Hobbit and pirates are all time classic franchises, and while some don't care about the Hobbit movies, they are still the original film's for a major classic tale(not counting some low budget cartoon). Same with pirates. Jjp is taking classic family license's, and using the original film's, not remakes. Toy story will be another classic franchise. While none are as old as woz/wonka, these recent titles are considered by many to be family favorites, and or classics of their respective time. Its of course variable opinions on what the definition of a classic is, and that's fair. Now picture a lineup of all jjp titles and tell me if the Wilder or Depp version would fit the style best in a jjp row of games.

They could do the kids scenes as modes. You could have a Mike Teavee mode where the pinball shrinks down and is sent to a mini-playfield below the main one that's a mini recreation of the upper playfield but with a tiny pinball. Or, shrink Mike down and put him in a video mode on the main screen. Violet Beauregarde has a blue ceramic powerball, secret Miranda Piker mode, etc. SO MANY possibilities.

I started work on an original Willy Wonka pinball game many years ago. Here's my early concept backglass idea. If no one else makes it, I certainly will.

Hopefully the license includes the Oompa-Loompas - not like WOZ and the missing munchkins.

    #27 6 years ago

All these ideas I have seen are amazing, I already put money aside just in case this happens which JJP would be the best to do it and could be the greatest pin ever, Bring back Brian Eddy for the creation and wow it would just be insane

LOL, that makes me think an even better license would be Young Frankenstein. "Puttin' on the Ritz" multiball and "It's pronounced eye-gor" magnet grab.

My ex-wife loved the Depp version. Judge gave me child custody. Just sayin'.

Huh? Munchkins are in the game, on-screen, in the munchkin modes.

Seems like it's about 40 years too late for that one.

I don't know how many more times it's necessary to relive one's childhood.

The classics are considered as such for a reason. Timeless.

Gone With The Wind is a classic movie too, but WhyTF make a modern pinball machine about it?

    Ask all the WOZ owners.

    #37 6 years ago

    lol

You guys can keep buying these pricey monuments to movies from ages past and it won't bother me one bit.

Now you're being silly. The ball time on a Gone with the Wind would be ridiculous. Who has time for that?

It might be perfect for Hobbit or LOTR owners.

Not to mention it catching on fire half way through your game!

Yeah well, do you think I want these hands touching my other machines after playing Willy Wonka?

Laughing reading through this post. Ha, how things can change fast. Shall we subtitle this post "Disclaimers from the Silent Minority?"

WONKA is here and the pinball world is celebrating as well it should be!

And I'd also buy a GWTW in a heartbeat!!

Did you sell your design to JJP?

Or wait: this image comes from the dust jacket of the Warner Home Video 40-Year Anniversary Edition!

Perhaps you sold it to JJP anyway!

    #45 4 years ago

So yes it is. Time to mark the thread as resolved.
