TMNT is making quite an impression with new owners for Borgs layout and flow but how does it compare with some of his best titles?
Looking forward to opinions and playing either version very soon!
The layout is pretty average imo. Side flipper doesn't work well and too much feeds it. Shots are quite narrow. Poor visibility in the back due to all the ramps
Borgs layouts tend to be similar to each other. As far as code goes, it's both. It's a good game but there's also a of lot hype.
New games are always exciting so there is some hype to it. I mean, it's not the second coming but it's pretty solid. The license alone doesn't do anything for me either. (Like Ghostbusters movie didn't do much for me but the pin is one of the best)
Quoted from Gryszzz:It's better than MET? Already?
Exactly!!
Tron, Metallica, and Iron Man are all superior to anything made today.
Quoted from Vino:TMNT is making quite an impression with new owners...
Is there a machine that doesn't?
WWE had no owners so it doesn't count smarty Pants'!

That's just sheer, foul smelling, fly infested Horse Pucky.

You lost me at iron man.
and maybe tron.
potentially metallica as well.
Turtles is a top Borg design, and arguably his most fun. But what's really adding to it is how much it fits the theme, the fast flow with all those martial-arty fights and training and such...
This theme hits the mark with a lot of folks I guess. It incorporates so much more compared to his typical layout that we have been use to in the past given the theme. It will turn out to be the best until the next one comes around.
Quoted from zacaj:too much feeds it.
I need that training wheels upper flipper. Haha. Some games are so frustrating to set up the upper flipper shot, then you just miss the shot with it 9/10.
It will be almost impossible for him to top tron and TWD. But this does shoot very very well.
The lair is clunky, but it’s fine. Rest is very well done.

^^^This.
Same thread, inset new game title.
People said the same thing with Iron Maiden, Jurassic Park etc.
It’s a good game and people are excited.
It will settle down a bit as new titles get released.
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:TWD is the best.
I had a Premium and l regret selling it.
It's a good game for sure with a solid layout, one of his smoothest playing games but certainly not the best either!
That's the problem, Borg has a few really good and varied layouts to choose from!
Quoted from aussiegeorge:I had a Premium and l regret selling it.
Find another one while you still can. If Stern do not do a vault, it will become one of the most collectible games of all time, right up there with TRONLE and BM66LE.
Quoted from TheLaw:Is there a machine that doesn't?

The newest game is always the best game and this is no exception.
Pretty impressive, as even though it’s hamstrung by the worst theme in recent memory it has still risen to the top. A masterpiece!!
Quoted from CrazyLevi:the worst theme in recent memory
lest we forget Munsters? not knocking the game itself, but theme-wise?!? we're talking about a 60yo TV Show that lasted only 2 seasons, and didn't even get broadcast outside the US until it settled into it's retirement home on Nick at Nite in the 90's! By then, anyone who cared was either 4yo or 94yo!! Hardly the recipe for a successful pinball theme.

What can I say, I just hate the teenage mutant fucking ninja turtles and it depresses me that there are adults who gravitate towards this IP. I’d be embarrassed to have one in my home.
Cowabunga dude!! Pizza!
Lamest thing possible. Munsters far superior.
That dumb fucking song alone would be enough to have me reaching for the cyanide. I don’t know how you people do it.
Quoted from Pinball_Syd:Simply X-Men mirrored, but with a few more smoke and mirrors
Shoots way better than X-Men. Closer layout to tron than anything (with a better gem shot but offset by a clunky lair shot).

between all the looting and rioting happening right on your doorstep, and your communist/socialist politicians keeping business shutdown for nothing, I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of all the ninja pizza parlors in NYC are closed forever.
edit: sorry, i'm derailing this thread. back to 80's nostalgia...

Clearly we need some heroes to step up and make things right.
Preferably, on a half shell!

LOL. I'd love to see a thread asking if Maiden or JP is the best Borg game ever. Heehee

Munsters was a massive hit down under in the 80’s. Use to watch it religiously when it ran back to back with Adams Family. Probably explains why Munsters Pin was a big hit amongst pin fans in their 40s plus here.
But we also didn’t get colour TV years after the USA. Which probably explains why B&W throwback shows were still pre prime time hits in the 70s and 80s. Defrosted, reheated B&W tasty meatloaf... We digs it!
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:TWD is the best.
Quoted from Krupps4:Agreed. My vote is for TWD.

To me, TWD seems like one of the best pins of all time. I don't understand why it continues to slip in the rankings. It's also probably the modern game I see for sale the most on the 2nd hand market. You can't look at pins for sale anywhere without tripping over a TWD Premium or even an LE or two.

This community has ADHD. It is 6 years old. To some of these people, TWD might as well be lumped in with the Bally/William games of the 1970s.
Yes---TWD will slip in the rankings due to recency bias at play here. TWD is not only Borg's best but one of the best games ever. Incredible code--people give up on it because it is a tough, hard game. That's why you see it for sale often--when you have a great game on it there are few pinball experiences more satisfying. TMNT is a solid layout. Frankenstein one of his most underrated layouts--Sega bias.

This helps - appreciate the feedback!

Actually, I would say TMNT's layout is closer to corvette than tron.

"in" a half shell. Come on dude, get it right.
I really love TMNT. Game is packed and a blast to play. The shots are tight(damn you right ramp), but all the shots feel so good. I find the left upper flipper to work great and maybe its sensitive to pitch. I like it more than tron but I admittedly havent had tons of time on that game. Id say even with TWD so far.

Even better.
Quoted from bigehrl:lest we forget Munsters? not knocking the game itself, but theme-wise?!?...
Which is weird, because the theme was a huge success on Pinside yet the game gets knocked.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:What can I say, I just hate the teenage mutant fucking ninja turtles and it depresses me that there are adults who gravitate towards this IP...
I was a bit shocked by it myself, which is not the easiest thing to do these days.

I love TWD, but the horrible art and grating voice-actor callouts keep me from owning it—especially with my space constraints. MET hits on (almost) all cylinders for me.

It's ugly as hell and frustrating for novice players
