Quoted from mmr61184:

Which would makes sense, Medieval Madess was a later produced game. Weber would have providing playfield blanks for Bally/Williams at the time of production. The fact that an addams family playfield would have a 1997 date stamped in it is what was really baffling initially.

Yes MM was made in 1997 so makes sense that at that time they made the blanks for B/W your TAF one unless they make more PF for TAF for resell ,they did sell 20,000 units was the biggest hit just guessing

I think a lot of the mystery has been answered with all the back and forth but at the time I just couldn’t wrap my head around why the playfield was being produced way after the fact. I guess I just didn’t realize that b/w made more parts long after production of the games to keep as spares. I also can’t imagine a coin operator doing a playfield swap

Yea I don't think anyone knows why they would do that after the fact but we might never know they might be thinking ahead when they sold so many of the game it self ,it like there's so many TAF parts still out there for this game they must of made all parts for TAF as it is the most game ever made at that time

Actually it was probably more common in that era. As an operator in the 70's I did many playfield swaps. The coatings weren't as durable as today's, and replacements were less than $100.00, so we'd replace them when we started seeing more wood than ink/paint. Especially remember doing them on High Hand, Big Brave, Capt. Fantastic etc. At the time, the games might only be a few years old but after 100K plays they'd look awful, even with good maintenance. A couple of days labor and a 100.00 playfield, and they'd be ready for another 100K plays.

I was thinking how time consuming it would be.

Ya I replace many PFs and its a lot of time by your self but when u a few guys doing it back then it's not as bad as you think goes good

Quoted from Williampinball:

By the date on the PF it was made in 1997 and TAF was made in 1992 so can't be from when the machine was made

Looks like 1992 to me?

Edit: Expanding it big and it says 1997. My mistake

TAF made big bucks on location, especially in 1997 when pinball was in the last revival period. Worth it to get it out there and earning again.

IPB playfields had the routing missing around the holes leading to the subway and it’s definitely not mirco or CPR. I Highly doubt B/W would let any aftermarket manufacturers repro while they were still in business .

IMO If replacement playfields were made by Bally/Williams then it should be considered new old stock.

Good thing is it's still was made in the 90s

That’s my opinion too. I knew for sure it wasn’t CPR or Mirco. I didn’t think it was IPB either.

For sure W/B got them remade because they know TAF was a money maker all around and they are needed years too come

Your playfield is from a run of playfields that Bally/Williams ran in 1997 to satisfy backup inventory for replacements since they made over 20K games. It was made by Linc Smith for B/W so it would be considered NOS. It is not a reproduction that Gene, CPR or Mirco did.
