Just got a new pin delivered and found some lines partially out. Anyone out there have any experience with this.

The full line out is just the test line, the two partial lines are the problems.
Any help/ideas would be great
Cheers

Check the thin ribbon going to them. You might be able to solder a break or crack, or carefully use an electrical conductive adhesive.

If it's inside the glass, no.

When the display test completes, does it say "RAM TEST OK"?
This looks more like a Dot Controller RAM issue to me.

Will check both, cheers

try the display in another game to be sure. All 128x32 dmd's are basically the same and will work in any dmd game of the same sized display.

Swapped out the display and the problem followed the dmd so something is up with it. What I don't get is that its not the whole line just part of it. I would have though if it was a solder issue the whole line would have been out??

Just had a sent back. Put it in another machine and played a game. At the end of the game got a match and the knocker went off. As soon as the knocker went off a horizontal line went out - all but one dot. No happy.
Thinking on taking this to work and reflow all the connections with the hot air solder.

If it's your Fish Tails I would swap it out with the color dmd. If it's The Flintstone's I would swap it out with a color dmd and play with the color rendering. Either way Color DMD all the way http://www.colordmd.com/

Got the colour dmd in a stern so don't have the cables to swap it out to the williams otherwise it's a great idea. I've priced the cables from colour dmd and the postage is a killer to Australia, it's about $70. I guess I could try knocking up a set, just have to see what's needed.

The saga continues. The display I put in my JM to replace the faulty was working. I just now checked it and it looks like this

Reseated the cables and fixed the second issue. I'm thinking the original display is on its way out.

Yup. When it did the same thing in a different game, that was evidence that the display itself has failed. I agree that it's odd that only part of a line is missing. Ouch.

Are you saying it's $70 shipping for the cables alone? Ship them to me and I'll send them to you for $15. Pm if that helps you at all

I should take you up on your offer and probably will but I'm really struggling not to give in and just get the color dmd. Though with our Aus dollar in the toilet thats an expensive thought.

On my DMD just the bottom line (horzontal line) is out.. Does anyone know if there is an easy fix to it?

If you can get to the conductor that feeds that line, it's hit or miss on being able to use silver solder, conductive pens, etc.
