I watched the York Show video of Dennis Dodel’s NIB (new in box) Silver Sails several years back. Now, there is an equally remarkable Silver Sails up for auction November 17. In fact, I wonder if this is Dennis’ game. The auction listing speculates that the game is HUO (home use only), and looking at the inside-head photo and others, I am inclined to believe it. The few minor flaws I see wouldn’t survive a restoration. The only false note I detect is the incorrect wood legs substituted for the original red metal ones. Worse, the two rear legs were attached only by a single bolt at the time of the photo shoot. That’s asking for trouble. This would be a wonderful opportunity for someone to pick up one of the most desirable of Bally’s bingos. I’d be going for it myself if I weren’t in the middle of a downsizing move. Have you guys ever seen an original bingo this nice?

There were a few very nice copies of this title floating around. The fact that it has incorrect legs likely rules out that it's the game Dennis unboxed at York.
I had the pleasure of witnessing that event in person. It really was a memorable event!

The York game was serial number A2027. I don’t think that is the same game.
