Hello,

I have a Striker Xtreme that has a faulty membrane switch in the stadium lock. It always sees lock four as being full. I have done a bit of searching and I can't find anyone talking about how to fix the actual membrane itself, does anyone know if there is a way to do it?
Membranes are also found on Apollo 13, Twister and Harley Davidson.

Thanks
Eric

Membrane switches are NOT repairable. You buy a new one.

That is crap news. The one I want costs $90us and then I have to get it to the UK.

$90 seems like a steal compared to the Apollo 13 one.

How do membrane switches actually work? I just got mine in today and since they seem as rare as hens teeth I wanted to find out a bit more about them.

I have removed the old one from my Striker Xtreme, but there is still some sticky residue left on the ramp where it sits, will this matter if I stick the new one down over it? Or do they need to have contact with the metal of the ramp to work correctly?

Membrane switches are custom made per vendor (Williams) specs.
Tough to explain but they're essentially two layers of flexible circuit board taped face to face. Most of the material is coated with a protective layer to prevent shorts but in select areas, there is no coating. This area of no coating is where the switching occurs. Depending on type of 'snap action' that the vendor wants - a plastic dome, metal dome or spacer is installed at the location of the switch that holds the two layers apart until pressed.
*VERY* expensive to have made in small quantities.
