I just grabbed a very dirty example.

Does anyone have a scan of the "Fred's Choice B" and "Fred's Choice C" plastics? Mine are missing and can't see them available anywhere.

Thanks.

Quoted from zerbam:

they are both for sale on ebay

Would you care to share a link - I haven't seen them. Thanks.

A cheap diy building light mod.

I recently picked up a Flintstones and wanted to add the building light mod so here's my diy approach.

I used 1W leds that come mounted on aluminium plate, these are cheap, a few dollars for ten from ebay and the like. To make them easier to mount I superglued them to thin pieces of metal cut from an old pc case.

https://images.pinside.com/8/55/85564c30ae9b06837d73f8f0a54575668e85c7d4/resized/large/85564c30ae9b06837d73f8f0a54575668e85c7d4.jpg

Each led is about 3 volts and they are polarised, so if you arrange two in series and then a parallel string of another two arranged in the opposite polarity they suit being fed from the GI.

Bad ascii art schematic shows it below!

|---|<---|<---|

I drilled 20mm holes to mount the leds into the buildings. I drilled from the bottom for the residential side because I thought this would look better with the flat roofs. I drilled from the rear wall for the shops.

the wires can be concealed inside the buildings, working your way along.

when all is down and tested I used a smear of neutral cure silastic to hold the back plates in place

I made up little up little tails to connect to GI sockets, this makes it easily removable.

On the building end is the mating connector and the cable is run through the playfield holes

so it all plugs together

and from the top

The whole thing cost a few dollars and an hour or two for those who like to tinker.

I painted in the names of the shops just for effect - I like it.

What did you use, paint? if so what kind? Or marker?

Just acrylic craft paint and a fine brush.

It's also lacking a video mode for a game of this vintage.

Quoted from Rat:

.. does anyone know what value diode I should put with it? ...

Pretty much any diode will be ok. 1N4148 or it's equiv 1N914 were used originally but 1N4001 will work if you have them on hand. They aren't critical.

Edit - you shouldn't have problems with a lamp socket. Have you tried soldering the nipple to the wire tag - sometimes this connection becomes iffy.

#1066 4 years ago

Rat, on type 44 sockets the centre nipple is riveted to a tag to which the wire is soldered - sometimes this connection is flakey because it's only pressure holding it in place - so you can put a blob of solder over the rivet and tag to ensure good electrical connection - doesn't sound likely now from what you've described.

How's it behave in single lamp test? Any problems with other lamps in the same row or column? Run through the test routine for all in single lamp and this may reveal something.

Need some help with the Round Stand Up targets, .... Thanks, Rob

Rob, run through the switch test and individual lamp test modes. This may reveal something for you.

I put the stripey sticker on mine to make it more finished and less bland.

Quoted from little-italy:

Hey anyone here try painting a Flintstones apron? If so looking for some good advice. Thanks

Checkout a technique called "dry brushing". Good luck.

Here's how it looks applied to a Dirty Harry safe house.
