Hi
Just joined the club after doing a major overhaul. Any of you guys know where to get the spinning wheel from? The full wheel not just the sticker.

What is the purpose of that little mini half gate?

My ball still bounces off the rail and runs down the middle of the lane making the upper flipper shot very difficult if not impossible. Is this normal?
I have tried bending the side rail inwards and outwards not making any difference.

Where do I get the decal from that goes into the playfield and replaces the actors with the cartoon characters? I'm getting nowhere with my searches.

Happy with the file to print it myself.

Quoted from SYS6:

A cheap diy building light mod.
I recently picked up a Flintstones and wanted to add the building light mod so here's my diy approach.
I used 1W leds that come mounted on aluminium plate, these are cheap, a few dollars for ten from ebay and the like. To make them easier to mount I superglued them to thin pieces of metal cut from an old pc case.
https://images.pinside.com/8/55/85564c30ae9b06837d73f8f0a54575668e85c7d4/resized/large/85564c30ae9b06837d73f8f0a54575668e85c7d4.jpg
Each led is about 3 volts and they are polarised, so if you arrange two in series and then a parallel string of another two arranged in the opposite polarity they suit being fed from the GI.
Bad ascii art schematic shows it below!
|--->|--->|---|
|
|---|<---|<---|
I drilled 20mm holes to mount the leds into the buildings. I drilled from the bottom for the residential side because I thought this would look better with the flat roofs. I drilled from the rear wall for the shops.

the wires can be concealed inside the buildings, working your way along.

when all is down and tested I used a smear of neutral cure silastic to hold the back plates in place

I made up little up little tails to connect to GI sockets, this makes it easily removable.

On the building end is the mating connector and the cable is run through the playfield holes

so it all plugs together

Not trying to take away from your approach but you can do the same mod in 10 min by simply using 6V leds strips and a single feeder hole for the strip. Solder the strip to any GI socket and feed into the building.
I used the 6V strips to also light up the apron.

Hi All, Attached to this post is a pdf of the cartoon family decal for the playfield. There is a magenta cut line around the black shape for those that have the ability to cut the decal. This was originally a jpg placed in illustrator to print and cut. Seemed like the best way to post it was pdf. Hopefully someone out there can make these available again.[quoted image][quoted image]

Thank you so much. Just a question. When I printed it it is the wrong size. Any tips on how to print it to have it sized correctly?

#884 5 years ago

I have printed the file and the lines are quite pixelated. Anybody else having the same issue? Also the size I'm getting is wrong. Love to get some feedback to see if this is my issue or a file issue?

#885 5 years ago

After not been able to get a replacement of the spinning wheel of the rock tumbler I made my own. My original was cracked at the base. I enlarged the size of the base ring so it does not crack again.
Changed from boring black to a picture of Bedrock.as well.
I can make some extra ones if anybody is interested.

I sold my first Flintstones back in 2012 and really missed it. One came up in my circle of friends so I picked it up last Tuesday. Been slowly working through the minor issues and getting it up to my standards.
Here is the lighting before and after.

I also made some inlane decals to cover the stainless using the file posted by someone a few pages back in this thread... thanks!
[quoted image]

Really like the inlane decals.

Quoted from ToucanF16:

I like those inlane decals too. However I’m too lazy to print them myself. I’d certainly buy a set if someone started printing them for sale.

Working on it lol. Are you happy to cut them out with scissors if I print them as a laminated adhesive decal?

After printing the file Pinstein so generously donated I found that it was not high enough in resolution and the lines were quite pixelated (you can't see it easily on the picture but when you blow it up to decal size it's very noticeable) . Unfortunately he did not have any higher res file. So I was forced to make my own design. Much higher resolution and very clear. It's the decal on the left. I also made some spare line guide decals.
PM me if you want any of the decals (old style, new design and guide pattern)

How bout some posts of custom rule cards. I printed out 1 set but would love to see someone post a set of cartoon themed cards.

Yes that sounds great. Me too please.

Quoted from pinbuoy:

that's nice, no odd ball behaviors at slow speed?

No. No different to using Mylar.

#966 5 years ago
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Did you just attach your new playfield sticker right to playfield with the sticky backing or did you put anything on top of it to secure it down with mylar?

Straight on top of playfield. I made sure the playfield is wax/grease free before application.

#967 5 years ago

If you want to be able to remove the decal later it might be a good idea to wax the playfield before application.

Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Very good thanks for the update on that. Can you please advise at any point down the road if you start to notice the decal starting to lift away and maybe how many games (approx) of course it lasted. Thx

It should never come off. No different to applying Mylar.

#971 5 years ago

Make sure you have the right spacer underneath the apron.
Otherwise it's just the angle of the playfield (leg levelers).

killer, you making these available for the rest of the class?

Here you go.

Place the guides on the decal so that both fit. Cut the decal into two pieces - one for each guide. Remove backing and attach decal to guide. Use scalpel to cut arround the edges and arround the holes.
Use this sort of scalpel for best results.

I made a decal for the rock tumbler. It has a special surface to generate spin. It's $15 including postage worldwide.

Quoted from seah2os:

Is this one thicker drop target on the E of the left bank of drop targets original? I was having an issue where occasionally a few of the targets didn't seem like they wanted to drop all the way when hit, leaving about an 1/8th" above the playfield. They appeared to be dragging due to the aftermarket decals placed over the originals creating too much thickness for the slot. When I removed the decals, I noticed the one odd target on the left bank. Even after removing the layered decals, they still don't all drop correctly. It occurs on both banks. Thanks.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Them not dropping is definitely not a decal issue.

For the buildings I just use the 6V led strips. Much easier than using lamp sockets or 12V led strips. 6V led strips are more expensive when compared to 12V but soooo much easier to install. Just hook up to any GI socket.

Quoted from RB0135:

SPINNING WHEEL - I CREATED A 3D VERSION OF IT
Hi all,
My newly required Flintstones didn't seem right when it came to the Spinning Wheel and it seem to wobble and stop and go when balls were on it.
Taking it apart, I found the wheel was stripped out where it fits on the spindle and whoever had it before, just tighten the spindle nut that tight, the surface was below the ball exit and the last ball out would get stuck.
Finding it impossible to buy, I set out with Fusion360 and designed a direct replacement for the wheel, with tight tolerances. I measured the motor spindle, the key, distance from motor to where the balls exit and other measurements.
Took a few goes to get the shaft spindle tolerances correct, but I finally have a direct replacement that now spins perfectly.
Surprisingly, the decal for the surface still seems to be available. This is the textured surface, so I didn't bother designing that in, but that might be the next version.
I printed it out on a Prusa MK3S, .20 resolution, 100% infill using black PETG (but PLA should be fine). You could even get creative and printing in any color if you wanted..
Anyone interested, I have put it up on Thingiverse. Would love to know if this helps anyone.
Here is the link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4200258
Rob

I made a custom decal with textured surface for the rock tumbler. It's pre cut to the right round shape of the disc.

Hi Pinball Haus
Bought something from you recently... Will be buying more... Love the "Rock Tumbler" decal. Love the coin door decal, but my coin door is different, so mightn't fit...

Thanks! Yes my machine seems to have a Stern door. I think most other machines will have the Bally/Williams US door.
I will make a Flintstones door decal for that door down the track.

Quoted from mbelofsky:

I picked up a nice Flintstones at the beginning of February. First time I bought a pre-owned game and all the LEDs were installed (I usually get the "most LEDs except for the really hard to reach places installation"). It had no errors. All lamps, GI, flashers, coils, and switches working. So I have been playing it to see what needs to be adjusted. I bought a translite from Germany and decals from the Netherlands Feb 23 but they both have not arrived yet. I want to go more with the cartoon look.
My only remaining "issue" is when the ball goes up the right lane and the diverter is down, the ball spins out of the right inlane. Sometimes it goes to the outlane. Sometimes it dribbles down the front of the sling. But it makes it difficult to bowl. After carefully watching the ball, it appeared that the ball was dropping onto the rubber around the post in front of the rod that lifts the gate. You can see in the first photo, I removed the rubber and you can see that the ball has been hitting at the 9 o'clock position and bouncing erratically. This solved about 75% of the problems. But the erratic ball behavior continued. It looked like the ball would hit the diverter and then slide really fast out the hole at an angle. In the second picture, I added a small felt dot on the diverter where the ball was mostly hitting. These are easily removed if needed. For good measure, I added one at the end as shown in the third photo. Occasionally, the ball will spin out. But for the most part, It has allowed the ball to correctly fall into the inlane. This makes the game much less frustrating. I also did the same changes on the left side.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That rubber looks a little too large. It looks like a 3/8. It should be a 3/16.
Also make sure to slide the post to its most top position. That way the ball will not hit it when it drops down.
Otherwise it look exactly like my own machine. Strange don't need the felt in mine. Is your playfield angle too steep?
