    Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Of course it can happen on all three... It's most likely to be a dropped packet or a server that never sent anything. Sploogified is my fancy term for "lost in the ether".
That's when most people's code will wait forever for the return (why you see the spinning circle forever, even though the post has been made).
The two paragraphs were meant to be de-coupled, I probably could have written it better. I didn't blame a specific browser, but I am definitely recommending chrome for all the reasons I listed. That was done in response to some people saying they use Firefox.

Chrome rocks. I love it! I was a die hard Firefox user, but Chrome won me over.

So, if the issue is with the browser, what can be done to fix the issue?

It's not the browser, its the javascript that's being run.

A suggestion might be for Robin to include code that kicks off a timer, and asynchronously checks for the status of the post, instead of waiting on an ajax return.

I should add that I have not ever looked at Robin's code, so I may be completely misstating how he has his tech set up, but the general concept of what I am telling you holds true.

    lol!
I'm using Chrome! The issue with posting replies is horrendous on Chrome. I've also tried Firefox *and* Safari. It's the same on all three browsers.
The logical conclusion...it's not the browser!

I'm running Opera and it's all smooooov as buttah.

The issue with the spinning "posting your reply" message is not browser related, it's the server struggling when it's busy. I did build in a timeout check but this appears to not be working, I will look into this and try to fix it asap!

Dewsho, you don't need to create an account to donate through Paypal. You can just use your credit card without creating an account.

I've never donated to a website before, but felt that this site is such a great benefit to the hobby that I had to do my part to help. Only $10 this time but every little bit helps right? I figure I'm going to be spending money on tools and other things for the hobby so why not the resource that is Pinside!

As for the topic, I run Firefox with no problems, and this site has MANY great features, and a great layout. Thanks Robin!

The list updates every 30 minutes according to the SQL.

I am really starting to wonder if this site will die the way it has been performing the last week or so. Every time I post I get an error or "too fast" message. It even takes a long time for edits to take effect sometimes.

It's bad for sure...but that's the price of success. I've taken a couple days off here and there...really quite annoying...in a 2010+ world we live in

Definitely agree. It's really bad. Having a really fast internet connection like I do does me zero good on Pinside.

Robin posted in another thread that he does have plans to remedy this situation, but he currently has other priorities and won't be able to get to it for several weeks at least.

    No. It makes zero difference.

Chrome, Safari, Firefox, no difference at all. It's a issue with the Pinside server, and Robin has acknowledged as much.

    O-din: thanks for the update!

It seems that Robin has successfully fixed the problems for the time being. He said in another thread that he has upgraded the equipment.

Frequently now, threads I've read are showing as new.

I've noticed this as well; mostly with older threads though, not current threads.

    Robin,
If you log into my account and look at my activity, you will see that some of the threads that I actually started show as me never opening (if you want a quick and easy example). This doesn't bother me by the way, just pointing it out to you. Thanks. TL

Yes, no one goes here any more. It's too crowded

This is still happening. Some threads that I have read that are a month old are showing as new.
