    Quoted from mnrocketry:

Back on August 8, I ordered a set of plastic protectors from Pinbits for my Stern Star Trek. I didn't note exactly when I received them, but it was within two weeks of placing the order.
I'd really like to order a set of their plastic protectors for my Tron, but their web page for that item is broken and is missing the add-to-cart button. I've sent them 5 or 6 emails about it (direct and through their web site) over the past 5 months without any reply.

They are out of business, out of stock, not interested in continuing operations, whatever. Take a hint

Yes they really should take their site down. I can't believe they haven't yet. Have a clearance sale, sell you inventory to someone who is actually interested in moving it, whatever.... but stick a fork in it already.

I placed an order in Nov. 2020. They took my money and nothing ever came. No communication. I filed a report with PayPal at the end of December. They didn't respond to PayPal. I escalated the claim.

If you have no intent on fulfilling orders, shut your store down and stop accepting orders. I'd imagine PayPal would shut them off at some point.

ForceFlow does Pinside put up a pinned thread when businesses like these are in bad standings with the community? I’m guessing more people are going to continue to purchase and have to go through a return process unless they are warned. I’ve bought products from them before and they’ve sold a great product, but this is not acceptable. Unless somebody can reach them and tell them to shut down their site

No, Pinside generally tries to remain neutral and does not typically make any official statements about anyone. However, everyone is free to discuss things amongst themselves.

For Tron plastics (the good ones with fluorescent colors), help may be coming shortly - PM you..

Anybody know where to get Funhouse plastic protectors? I see Marcos has some, not sure if that’s the only option now

Hopefully, other providers have started to offer similar type of modded products. Time to move on and take our business elsewhere..

Yeah, just canceled/disputed my order with my CC Co. Gonna try the Marcos plastic protectors

Crap. Wish I found this thread before I ordered some TWDLE protectors last week. Looks like I will have to contact PayPal as well. Too bad, as their kits were perfect.
I see some here have mentioned they have laser cutters....is there anyone that can recreate the pinbits figure mounting LOTR plastic protector set? Or perhaps know of another distributer?
    Thanks

    #60 3 years ago

Yeah this is a bad fly trap sitting open. Really wish they would close the store even if they are on hiatus for a bit. I consistently ordered from them and loyal but this is how you lose a customer forever. Of course if they are not coming back guess it doesn’t matter

I'm working on getting a laser cutter and will start filling these kinds of gaps in the not too distant future.

I’ll be your first customer! I mean, you are from Florida and I’m a huge Bucs fan soooo...Lol.
I looked at laser cutters today but I wouldn’t know where to start! There is another site with protectors but pinbits were always great as they were about 2mm wider than the original plastics.

I agree that Pinbits had the best protectors , but they have been MIA for a long long time , to bad they had some great mods !! I’ve tried contacting them off and on with no responses,,,,

i had the same experience around that time as well... Saddened to hear customers that may be left in the lurch at this point...

I had a protector crack and actually called the number under “contact us “and talked to Pam, very nice , and she replaced it right away , but its been months ago ,,, I’d say to call the number on the website , you might get lucky and she’ll answer ,,,,

Well, looks like I found this thread a little too late....I ordered the fluorescent plastic protectors for Avatar from their site. Paid for and confirmation of my order back in December but crickets since then. I tried to call, contact through their website and direct email to Pam also. I figured with this, as with just about everything these days, that there might be a delay because of the virus or lack of parts, but guess I figured wrong. As someone mentioned above, they could have disabled the site until they came back to work, better than keeping everyone hanging. Maybe they'll be back soon. Only thing I can say is at least my order was small, so not out a bunch of money.

Go through paypal (if you used that) or your credit card company to get it refunded.

    #68 3 years ago

    I got refunded by PayPal.

    #69 3 years ago

Yeah I got my refund. This is unfortunate this keeps happening. They really need to shut down the store

    #70 3 years ago

I spoke with Pam on the phone back in August a few times. I have a "New" tron ramp kit that was purchased from someone at TPF or Expo. Finally went to install it one day and found it was missing one of the ramp light modules that the fibers plug into. Pam was going to look into what she had left and get back to me. Never heard back from her....

    #71 3 years ago

I suggest a few things need to happen asap here, including Pinbits:
    - going over whatever issues they were suppose to correct at one point (like @grbgemen's missing module) and make things right
    - turn off PayPal from taking money
    - reimburse unfulfilled orders
    - put on some 'closed for now' sign on their website

These are the minimum things to do at this point. I think ForceFlow was the closest to actually talking to them, maybe he could steer the owners in actioning those items?

    #72 3 years ago

Second, Pinbits was doing well because of their varied and popular offering. And that, even with customers experiencing similar issues in the past (e.g. this is well documented elsewhere on Pinside).

Not putting current ownership on trial here, just saying that their offering was unique in many ways and that their clients were obviously loyal because they kept coming back.

Seems like a well organized team of people could still make Pinbits into the real deal. Maybe it's time to pass the business along, or at least sell off the inventory to another business if they have any left.

I'm no different than any other customer. The only contact info I have is either listed on their website or in order emails.

    #74 3 years ago

I hope the owners are ok, and I would think Pinbits knows their company product has a certain value in it's laser cutting files and (maybe) stock on hand. Seeing as this has happened several times before, maybe they could contact some other parts dealers and see if any of them would be interested in buying the company or it's assets.

Had my post sitting unsent for an hour, finally sent it, and see you already said the same thing

    ...pinheads' think alike! Lol

I'll give Pinbits a call, you never know!

    #77 3 years ago

I should clarify, i did not purchase the Tron kit through pinbits. It was picked up from a 3rd party and later found to be incomplete.

I reached out to Pinbits to see if they could help. I tried through email & the contact form on their website but got no response. Finally got a hold of Pam via phone and explained the situation. I spoke with her again a few weeks after that to see if she had any update and she was still looking into it. Never heard from her again.

    #78 3 years ago

Seems to be a recurring trend with pinball websites. They fade away and we find out through litigation to get a refund.

Not just pinball sites. Most online stores.

    #79 3 years ago

I’ve ordered heaps of stuff over the years from Pam and always great. I stopped receiving email responses over a year ago as I always double check through email before I order. It’s an O/S thing. I just stopped ordering through them. May be it’s not worth the headaches as more mod makers are offering plastic protectors now. Ulekstore for one. Shame as I always like using Pinbits. Surely someone local has a number or even an address that they could check if this is a permanent thing and gently ask them to closedown the website. It’s going to keep causing headaches as it is often first in web searches if you are looking for protectors. I do hope they are ok though.

    #80 3 years ago

Anybody live in or near Fremont, CA ..... I have Pinbits Business Address from a previous purchase if someone wanted to drop by and check.

    #81 3 years ago

Its so unprofessional to leave the site active if you have no intent to deliver

    2 weeks later
    #82 3 years ago

I’m sorry to hear this news. I just placed an order on 2/16. I paid using PayPal but haven’t received anything and I’m not getting any response from them.

    #83 3 years ago

Request a refund from PayPal. Seems like they are on a permanent hiatus

To make matters worse, it looks as if someone decided to set up a scam website

    Zitt

Can you make some of these, and the Indy ramp flaps?

    #89 3 years ago

I absolutely could; but it seems other vendors have you covered.
The problem is I'd need a part to measure and duplicate the parts.
