Quoted from ExSquid:Yeah this kills me too, When I play a game and have no idea what's going on I don't care! Its fun anyways. The discovery of all of it is the fun part. So I don't understand the "its too complicated" garbage I hear from some of my family and friends. Like get over it and just enjoy!
You can actually code a setting for location play, to lure in new players. Give them a simplified ruleset and more instructions.
When I was a kid, I didn't like pinball because I didn't understand what the hell was going on. I played 1 or 2 games, then never again... until 30 years later.
Today, I code the most comprehensive and complicated pinball games ever made (digitally), but the player ALWAYS knows what to do and will ALWAYS have fun. I'm using my own experience as a kid to fix the problem I had.
