Hi I have been emailing tom but I havent heard back. is he still macking this?
I emailed him a few times about 5 months ago but I haven't heard anything. I was hoping to get the animated tiger saw too.
Several months ago I contacted him and he replied that he is no longer selling these kits.
I'm not sure whether anything changed since then. Based on his concept I replicated the mod:

And still around. On Monday, I emailed him about some Bally Black Buttons and they arrived yesterday in the mail.

thanks for the info. I'm like you 250.00 is a bit much for the other mod. and would have like to have gotten all at once from pin logic.. but i guess I can do it your way thanks for all the links,
I bought a Black Knight CMOS battery eliminator (SIMTEK STK16C68-W45) from him a little over a year ago, just got around to installing it. Wouldn't work, e-mailed him for more info. Long story short, he refunded my money, which was exactly NOT what I was looking for. When I told him this, his simple response was (and I'm quoting verbatim): "I FELT THIS WAS BEST WAY TO RESOLVE INSTALL ISSUES." He hasn't responded to any of my follow-up e-mails.
Anybody know how to get this to work? Does it require the original CMOS chip? The socket he provided with it has 2 rows of pin sockets and allows the original chip to install underneath the SIMTEK, but not sure if this is how it's supposed to work.
PS Hope everything is okay with Tom.

It would replace the original 5101 RAM, so you remove the original RAM & install the adapter in its place.
Seems to me that refunding in full resolved the issue with the transaction. Maybe not the best circumstance for you since you wanted to replace your RAM with a battery eliminator, but gives you the option of purchasing something else. To get a refund 1 year after the purchase, that seems like pretty good customer service IMO. From a business standpoint, it's sometimes easier to refund in full than try to step customers through possible board issues or faulty RAM..especially depending upon what else the person has going on in life (ie. no longer creating or selling those types of products to the capacity he used to).
I recently bought a board from him, which seems to work great. He seems like a kind and helpful guy. Having said that, I had to dig rather deep just to get a few questions answered.
My .02 of advice if you ever need tech support from Tom:
If he doesn't answer your questions the first time around, take a big deep breath and relax, like you are having a conversation with your great grandfather (someone you'd never lose your patience with), and slow wayyy down. Ask again. And again. You may eventually get your answers.
And don't let his "ALL CAPS" communicating style bug you, he has no idea that means "SHOUTING" in internet jargon...
RELAXXX...

His web site has changed, because awhile back it was posted that he was quitting, and that all of his inventory was for sale. I was interested in buying, and here is the conversation we had back about a year ago. I've altered nothing except removing my phone number:
Todd: Do you have a list/prices in mind? I run Big Daddy Enterprises. Todd (Phone number)
Tom: 19kgetswebandallproducts with pcb files and remaining stock
Todd: A more detailed list when you have time
Tom: 600Xenon lite strips and transport tubes@$40.00
Todd: Tom, I’m not really sure what that means. You’re apparently asking for $19,000 for your web site, inventory and PCB files, and I’m a serious buyer. Do you not have an inventory list with quantities and values?
