Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Another believer!!! Hardbody is criminally underrated (and it’s original version BMX is too) Hardbody is actually a shitload of fun. Add too that flexsave is waaaay more fun than Magnasave.

Hardbody was the first pinball machine I owned. I learned so much about pinball from it. +1 on the shitloads of fun.

To the original discussion. I think people are slowly beginning to realize that modern games, even at their worst, still outperform some “top rated” games from the 90s in terms of gameplay and assets. It’s like the Moore’s law of pinball. Some of us will always be nostalgic for a certain era of pinball, but at some point even late DMD games are going to start to feel dated.

Quoted from Krupps4:

I think that is okay. Nostalgia matters and should count towards ranking considerations. I’d rank TAF much higher than it is ranked and a big part of that is due to nostalgia. For me, it probably makes it a better pin than it actually is.

Absolutely. I think probably the biggest consideration for some people around here will be the market devaluation of “top rated” pins over time as new collectors will have newer tastes, expectations and nostalgia of their own. As others have mentioned, similar things happened in the EM market. Some folks are still only interested in EMs, others have moved on.

TAF is a good example of a game that is at its peak of nostalgic demand. Funny, I remember when I brought mine home how anticlimactic it felt. Nostalgia was great, but the gameplay didn’t hold up for me.
