Quoted from yancy:

I'll pay whatever Stern is asking for a Spike LOTR with dual-wound flipper coils. Not interested in an original so long as even a tiny VE possibility exists.

if they do a VE I would not be surprised if they do use Spike...

LOTR was a whitestar machine, I seriously doubt stern wants to re-run old PCBs (especially since whitestar boards are HUGE)

LOTR LE used a whitestar CPU board with a SAM power/driver board...

but the Spike system is much more powerful and could probably easily run whitestar in emulation

Quoted from Tripin:

I will be surprised if we don't see another VE before year's end, and LOTR looks like the more likely candidate than Tron.

only if they can successfully emulate whitestar in spike... I really don't see stern doing another run of whitestar boards

Quoted from someoneelse:

I seriously don't want to see what current Sterns will look like 10-15 years from now. Some of the 2013 used (HUO!!!) ST's I've seen lately look far worse (playfield, plastics, ramps, ...) than my 2003 LotR with x-thousands of plays on it.
Stern will never again even come close to the quality they produced in 2003/2004.

my 2013 Tron looks fine, it has a couple plays
