I am seeing a large number of LOTR for sale across the country, could it be???
If you consider four a large number then I suppose so. Of course I've been pondering listing mine (that would make it five!), but have zero knowledge of a VE, just feeling its time to go after 8 good years and would like to make space for some new games.

IMO, will they do a LOTR? Probably if the licensing makes sense, but I don't think we see a VE, rather something to do with the Amazon show.
Quoted from tdiddy:I heard grumblings that it was coming with the LCD monitor.
I hope not my pin funds are severely depleted right now!

I know 2 people that sold theirs for Iron Maiden. Could just be some turnover. Think their are just about as many Trons for sale as well.
The price for lotr has jumped, which usually results in more going to market. That would be my guess.
I also haven’t seen a big increase. There are not all that many available.

No.
Is the Hobbit still in production? Wonder if there are licencing complications with there already being that Tolkien-themed machine currently. Not being SAM or spike might mean a lot more work to release a new version too.
Anyway, I'm seriously considering selling my LOTR to move to Iron Maiden now too - and I only just got it. A lot of that going around with all titles I'd wager. Certainly no rumors of a VE causing that here...
