I am sure this question has been answered before, but would it be possible to put B/W flippers on my Stargate?

    Flipper bats or flipper mechs?

Full mechs yes, not sure if the bats have the same diameter shaft.

The Gottlieb uses half the voltage I believe so you can't use the Williams coils. You could probably swap everything else though if the coils will fit.

Stargate is 50v just like wpc. Coils aren't the same, so it might take a bit of adjusting to find which wpc coil works best.

I replaced the upper flipper on a friend's with a wpc mech and it worked fine, but should have used a bit weaker flipper as it occasionally hopes off the habitrail now

I did not know that! I haven't had it for a while but I was sure my Big Hurt used 25 volt. But it's been a while....

On another note, is it possible to make the noisy Gottlieb flippers quieter, or is that just the way they are?

    What's noisy?

I guess I meant loud. Especially with the glass off, they are really loud when you flip.

Hard to compare, but I'd assume that's normal. It is a metal rod being bashed into a metal plate at high speed.

Gottlieb flipper mechs are loud clunky sounding by nature as compared to say wpc or Ball/Williams. Imo

I've seen Williams flipper bats installed of the gottlieb ones before, but I haven't seen someone swap out the whole assembly.

Why would you want to? The game wasn't designed for WPC style flippers.

Would Williams flipper bats even make a difference?

The bats--not much, although gottlieb bats are probably a bit heavier. A flipper assembly, yes.

I really want to get a Stargate myself and do the swap on all 3 flipper mechs, just to see what it's like. Stargate is a great game but those horrible flippers kill me. Too floppy to do any flipper skills on, too weak to make the ramps. I might also try putting in short WPC stops to make the flippers go higher, but I'm not sure Gottlieb's throw is a good thing

Kind of off subject, but isn't about time for Hollywood to remake the Stargate movie, to be followed by a Stern Stargate pin?
