My WOZ's shaker is a little squeaky when it spins. Is it ok to lubricate the shaft a bit with WD-40 or maintenance spray?

Probably not a good idea but lubricating the shaft would seem like a pleasurable experience.

Yes, right at the bearings. A light oil.

I've used contact cleaner in that instance - works very well.

Somehow I knew beatmaster would be posting in this thread.

Don't use WD-40. It's a penetrating oil and water-displacing spray. It will eventually dry and gum up.

The bearing is lubricated with grease and should have a metal shield (non contact), adding oil to it isn't ideal but it could help buy some time. If the bearing has a rubber seal, which it shouldn't since it is an electrical motor application then trying to add oil pretty much is useless since that seal is more than likely going to be a contact seal which keeps containments from getting in (meaning that oil won't be reaching the balls either).

So in short if the noise is coming from the bearing, replace the bearing.

I'll use a light maintenance spray and see if that does the trick. Thank you for the responses!

Almost all conventional shaker motors use bronze bushes NOT roller bearings which I am assuming you are referring to in your post.

Ahhh jeeze, no wonder why it's squeaky then. Disregard my previous statement.

Phosphor Bronze or Brass. Either don't need lubricating.
